Mercenary’s War Chapter 99

99: Chapter 98 The Pushed-Over Rabbit 99: Chapter 98 The Pushed-Over Rabbit Sitting on the living room sofa, Gao Yang, with a bruised and swollen face, and Cui Bo, brimming with confidence, presented a stark contrast. Looking at the smug Cui Bo, Gao Yang felt really irritated deep inside. They were both training, so why did Cui Bo seem to be enjoying a spring breeze while he had to endure inhuman beatings, and worst of all, he had to continue getting beaten every day. Determined not to let Cui Bo get too smug, Gao Yang grunted, “It’s all because Jinfang beat you up, talking about ‘fast-track training’ like it’s something special. But don’t start feeling too good about yourself, Rabbit; you’re just now learning to shoot. When your shooting gets up to par, you’ll have to learn combat just like me, and then you’ll see what it’s like to suffer.” Cui Bo plonked down next to Gao Yang and laughed out loud, “Seems like Toad taught you a tough lesson, huh? How does it feel, heh heh?” Gao Yang replied irritably, “Stop pissing me off. Don’t get too cocky so soon. Once I’ve refined my skills, I’ll be looking for you to spar with every day, brother.” Cui Bo shook his head and said with a sly grin, “Forget about it. I still have to practice shooting. I won’t have time to be your sparring partner.” Looking at the smile on Cui Bo’s face, Gao Yang couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off. Even if Cui Bo enjoyed shooting, there was no need for him to look as thrilled as if he had found a treasure. Before Gao Yang could ask, Li Jinfang rushed to speak, “What’s got into you, Rabbit? Why are you laughing so lasciviously?” Cui Bo replied with a giggly voice, “Nothing, nothing. Just proved today that I’m quite charming, that’s all.” Gao Yang, too sore to move, stayed put while Li Jinfang immediately perked up and scooted next to Cui Bo, eager to know, “Come on, spill it. Who’s the blind one that took a fancy to you?” Cui Bo replied disdainfully, “What do you mean ‘blind’? Are you jealous or something?” Glolov glanced over to where his wife and daughter were busy in the kitchen, then lowered his head to whisper, “You know, today at the shooting range, the one scoring for Rabbit was a girl!” Li Jinfang blurted out in astonishment, “I’ll be damned, Rabbit really did strike some luck there!” Gao Yang also became interested, saying, “She was scoring for you? She’d better not be an auntie or something.” Cui Bo quickly answered, “What are you talking about? She’s only twenty-two, the daughter of the range owner. She’s not just a scorer; she’s a shooting instructor with certification.” Glolov murmured, “Indeed, she’s young. As for her looks, well, she must be considered beautiful in the eyes of Africans, I suppose.” Gao Yang was suddenly taken aback and said, “A black woman? Really, Rabbit, your taste is that strong?” Cui Bo countered defensively, “What’s wrong with a black woman, huh? I’ll have you know there’s nothing wrong. And don’t you dare be racist.” Gao Yang quickly waved his hands, “No offense, no offense. I’m just surprised, just very surprised. Keep going, keep going.” Glolov gestured across his chest with a cheeky smile, “The girl is about as tall as Rabbit, but her chest is this big!” Gao Yang inhaled sharply, “Isn’t that an exaggeration? Like watermelons or what?” Glolov nodded vigorously, then adjusted his hands, probably feeling they were too close, and widened the gap, whispering, “Her butt is this big, no exaggeration.” Seeing the width Glolov gestured could fit two of him, Gao Yang shook his head and said, “You’re bluffing. If it were some big, fat woman who liked Rabbit, he wouldn’t be this excited.” Glolov insisted, “Who said she’s fat? The girl isn’t overweight; she just has a big butt, right, Rabbit?” Cui Bo agreed repeatedly, “That’s right, that’s right. She’s just uniquely endowed, but definitely not a big fatty.” Glolov, with an air of mystery, said, “You know, Rabbit really hit it off with that girl today. And get this—if Rabbit shot well, she would slap his butt as a reward, but if he didn’t shoot well, she’d still slap his butt! Man, you should have seen Rabbit’s face; he was really enjoying it, haha.” Cui Bo proudly said, “What’s so funny? This just proves Brother’s charm transcends racial boundaries, and it also shows there are some girls out there with taste.” After clearing his throat, Gao Yang hesitantly added, “Rabbit, not to burst your bubble, but I heard that like thirty percent of African people are affected by AIDS, or was it HIV carriers? Anyway, it’s thirty percent, so you weigh the risks.” Cui Bo dismissively replied, “You’re worrying too much. I’m not planning to do anything with her, just have a chat, that’s all. Rest assured, brother here has his principles. And, Old Russian, you don’t need to come with me tomorrow. Stay home with your wife. I know the way; I can go alone.” With Cui Bo around to tease, Gao Yang felt his pain lessen a little, but during dinner, he found it hard to laugh. Yelena, still a young girl at heart with her emotions readable on her face, doubled her tenderness when serving food to Gao Yang. Whenever he ate too quickly and agitated his facial injuries, causing him to wince and rub his face, Yelena would glance at Li Jinfang with a cold huff. What annoyed Gao Yang was Glolov; he couldn’t believe the old couple couldn’t see Yelena’s unusual demeanor. Just when Glolov seemed about to say something to Yelena, he’d be silenced by a stern look from Natalia, leaving Gao Yang puzzled about what was going on in their heads, especially Natalia’s. Time passed, day by day, through Gao Yang’s agony and Cui Bo’s bliss, until, on the eleventh day of training under Li Jinfang, Gao Yang finally saw a glimmer of hope. From that day on, Li Jinfang finally stopped simply beating him; he began to teach Gao Yang how to exert force and avoid enemy strikes, and he finally imparted a few simple moves to him. In fact, Li Jinfang had taught Gao Yang the moves much earlier; for the past ten days, Li Jinfang had been using the same few moves to beat Gao Yang, who had become exceedingly familiar with them—he knew Li Jinfang’s moves so well he could predict them even with his eyes closed. The problem was, despite knowing them, Gao Yang still couldn’t dodge them. It had to be said, Li Jinfang’s intensive training method was quite effective. With the daily beatings, even if Gao Yang were a fool, he knew how to use those moves, and with the foundation laid by the beatings, when Gao Yang started learning how to exert force and counter-attack, he really made rapid progress. One day, as Gao Yang was striking at Li Jinfang with the newly learned moves, he saw Cui Bo dash tearfully to the courtyard entrance, get off his resident vehicle, and run straight to the grass behind the house. Noticing that something was off with Cui Bo, Gao Yang’s moves slowed down a bit. Li Jinfang didn’t hesitate to kick him down hard, then said sternly, “No matter when or under what circumstances, you can’t slow down your moves. Gao Yang nodded repeatedly, got up while rubbing his butt, and asked the tearfully dashing Cui Bo, “Rabbit, what’s wrong?” Cui Bo ran up to Gao Yang, and after lowering his hands from his face, revealed a face that seemed extremely haggard. He looked at Gao Yang with eyes about to cry, and said, “Brother Yang, Jinfang, I—I—I don’t want to live anymore.” Gao Yang frowned and said, “What’s wrong with you, just spit it out. You’re not going to cry for us to see, are you?” Cui Bo nodded and said, “I want to cry, but I can’t. Li Jinfang, losing his patience, said, “Spit it out if you have something to say; just fart if you have to. What’s with the wailing like a woman? Can’t be that serious. What, were you sexually assaulted or something?” Cui Bo nodded, covered his face with his hands again, and sobbed, “I was sexually assaulted, Brother Yang, what should I do, I don’t want to live anymore.” Gao Yang and Li Jinfang both gaped at Cui Bo, at a loss for words; after a long pause, seeing no reaction from Gao Yang and Li Jinfang, Cui Bo lowered his hands again and said indignantly, “Aren’t you going to say something to comfort me? I was a virgin, and I was assaulted!” Li Jinfang nodded and said, “Brother Yang, why do I feel like Rabbit didn’t come to us for comfort, but to boast?” Gao Yang also nodded and said, “I deeply share the sentiment.” Angry and flustered, Cui Bo said, “Damn it, how can you be ? Are we still brothers or what?” Just tell us what happened.” Li Jinfang bellowed, and Cui Bo immediately said in a rushed tone, “It all started yesterday. Tutu took me to her room and said a few words about wanting to— you know—but I didn’t agree. Don’t laugh; I just hadn’t made up my mind at the time. Then, today I went to the shooting range, she didn’t say much, but during this morning’s break, she gave me a cup of coffee. After drinking it, it wasn’t long before I blacked out. When I woke up, I found myself in her bed, naked. I realized I had been— you know—assaulted…” Gao Yang and Li Jinfang lapsed into stunned silence once again. Muttering, Gao Yang said, “Damn it, it’s bad enough to be seduced, but to be drugged, too!” Li Jinfang kept shaking his head, saying, “I don’t know who’s blind, but one of them—Rabbit or that woman—definitely is.” Looking at Cui Bo, still with a sorrowful expression, Gao Yang coughed and ordered, “Toad, get the guns. Rabbit, lead the way! They dared to drug you? To the shooting range, and let’s take down that woman.” Li Jinfang responded and headed inside, when Cui Bo quickly said, “What are you doing? What are you going to do? Damn it, please don’t! She just liked me too much, that’s all. It’s not worth it—I mean, really not worth it. Listen to me, let’s just forget about it. After all, I didn’t lose anything, right?” Gao Yang halted, saying, “Alright, if you insist, then we won’t seek revenge for you. But you better not go there tomorrow; just switch to a different shooting range.” After hesitating for a while, Cui Bo sheepishly said, “Forget it, I’m used to it there already, so let’s not change places. I’ll just keep going. Actually, I think Tutu just loves me too much; she was driven to drug me, you know.” After Cui Bo finished speaking, Li Jinfang suddenly asked, “Hey, Rabbit, if you were knocked out, when did you wake up?” A look of confusion came over Cui Bo’s face as he answered, “Around noon, I think. It must have been around then.” Hearing Cui Bo’s reply, Gao Yang scoffed, “Dead rabbit, you fell for it just like that, yet you have the nerve to say you’re not showing off? Being drugged and seduced by a black woman, you may not mind the embarrassment, but still dare to come back and show off to us? That’d be okay on its own, but to act all aggrieved—do you really not know how to spell ‘death’?” Li Jinfang also said bitterly, “You woke up at noon, and it’s almost dinner time now. Did it take you all afternoon to get dressed? And you say you’re not bragging, still seeking comfort? Humph, Brother Yang, you’ve taken beatings for so many days, and you’ve finally learned something. Don’t you want to test how your skills have improved?” ps: It was over three in the morning when I finished typing, and as I was about to upload, I suddenly noticed more rewards.
