Memories of his Howling Voice Chapter 3

As I watched Henry's car drive away, I smiled. I entered the house quietly and noticed that all of the lights were still turned off. Perhaps Auntie Susan and Uncle Peter haven't arrived yet. I switched on the lights and placed my take-out order on the table. I set it out on the table so that when Auntie Susan arrived, they could simply eat it. As I remembered what had happened earlier tonight, I locked the door to my room. That voice. I couldn't see the man's face, but he looked familiar. It's as if there's something different about him that I'm curious about. And, if it wasn't just my imagination, the voice I remembered from a little memory that crossed my mind earlier sounded similar to his voice. Or perhaps my mind is playing tricks on me. I've heard many voices in the last two years, but when it comes to that man, I only hear a familiar voice. I'm not sure. I'm completely perplexed. I can't think clearly. Something in me is driven to learn everything I can about my past. To discover who I truly am. That's why my heart is overflowing the next day. If I chose to remain silent in previous years, I will now begin to search for my past. I'll start learning about my personality and the life of Amara Brooks. I require complete information. Finally, I'd like to know what happened two years ago when I was on the verge of death and had no recollection of the events. I need to know everything. "Did you get enough sleep last night?" Auntie Susan asked as they ate breakfast. "Yes, auntie. I was tired...so," I shrugged. "How about nightmares?” I had no nightmares last night, but I have so many things to think about. I shook my head in response to Auntie Susan. We soon left to bet on our jobs as well. When I arrived at work, I noticed a large crowd near the conference room. I approached Elena right away. "What's going on here?" I inquired of Elena. Elena smiled broadly as she turned to face me. "Because the new CEO is inside that room!" I frowned at what she said. "What?" I wondered. "Yes, the new shareholder bought the entire stock and became the new CEO!" Elena exclaimed. The new shareholder purchased stock from a nearly bankrupt company. Why does something appear to be wrong? Is the new shareholder insane? Why did he decide to buy stock in a bankrupt company? "Finally! I'll have the motivation to work! He's so handsome!" Elena exclaimed. I just shook and went to my desk to get to work. As the conference room door opened, the audience fell silent. As the company's shareholders arrived, my coworkers took their seats individually. Even though I tried to peer out the window at the people leaving the room, I couldn't see properly because the pillar in my cubicle was too high. When lunch arrived, Henry came over to my table and invited me to eat, but I declined because I had an appointment. I'm going to spend my lunch break at the library. I entered the elevator after saying my goodbyes to Elena and Henry. When the elevator doors opened and someone entered, I was scrolling through my phone. I didn't bother looking because I was more concerned with getting to the library. But I came to a halt when I felt and smelled something familiar. I also don't understand why my heart is racing so fast. As I raised my gaze to the man in front of me, my hands became cold. I could only see his back because he was standing in front of me. I tried peering through the elevator door to see his face, but it was blurry, and it was embarrassing to just walk in front of him to look at his face! When my wolf roared inside me, I balled my fist. I closed my eyes and tried to soothe her. Shit! This is the first time my wolf has gone crazy like this! Why? Why am I feeling this way? And his smell... This scent reminds me of something I've smelled before. It's so comfortable that I just want to... Should I hug him? Oh, no! I was in that state when the elevator doors opened and the man exited. My pupils dilated. That's why I tried to follow him, but there were so many people that it was difficult to do so. My vision is becoming dizzy. My wolf is getting excited, and I can't keep up. Damn it! Who is that man, and why am I the way I am? I've been outside the company, but I haven't caught up with him. I can no longer see him. I only know he's wearing a gray tux and is tall and has long hair, but he still looks manly and masculine. Oh, no! Where has he gone? I'm catching my breath as I feel the tightness in my chest. I'm right here in the middle of the crowd, looking for that man. My eyes welled up with tears. Why am I getting worked up over something like this? Why do I feel like I've just lost something important to me? But why do I feel pain at the same time? I couldn't stand the agony in my head any longer. My eyes went black, and I'm not sure what happened next. I'd just walked into a white-painted room. I can tell where I am just by looking. I'm currently in the hospital. "Thank God you're awake!" exclaimed Auntie Susan. When I turned around, I saw her worried expression. "How are you feeling, Amara?" she inquired, concerned. I took a deep breath and felt myself. Apart from a slight ache in my head, I don't feel anything else. "I-I'm fine," I said. She sighed with relief and smiled at me. "B-But...who drove me here?" I wondered because the last thing I remember is collapsing in the middle of the road. "I didn't know who it was, but he just called to tell us you're in the hospital," auntie Susan explained. I scowled. He had no idea I was related to Auntie Susan. It's unlikely that it was Henry or Elena because they had no idea what had happened to me. I was about to say something when I noticed something in myself. I have a keen sense of smell and cannot be misled. My clothing... are saturated with his smell. The scent I discovered in the elevator indicated that he was the one who transferred me here! My heart sank at the thought of him returning to me and assisting me. Does that mean he also knows who I am? So why isn't he coming to me? "C-Can I...borrow your cellphone, auntie?" I asked, my voice trembling. Even though Aunt Susan was unsure, she gave it anyway. I checked the calls on her cellphone and found the unknown number that had called Auntie Susan. I dialed that number, and when someone answered, my breathing almost stopped. “Hello?” When I heard his voice, I closed my eyes tightly. The voice I heard last night, the voice I recall from a fragment of my memory, and the voice I longed to hear hurt my heart for an unknown reason. "Y-You're the one who...brought me here, right?" I venture a question. I know Auntie Susan is keeping an eye on me, but I don't care. The man remained silent. As tears streamed down my cheeks, I tightly closed my eyes. "I know...you know who I am," I said my voice breaking. I couldn't stop the flood of emotions coursing through my chest. "S-So... please...come to me...and tell me who you are," I begged. After I said that, we were enveloped in silence. "H-Hello?" I'm curious if he's still there. "You lost your memories...and I lost you...as well, and now I want you to reclaim those memories on your own."
