**Cassie’s POV**
AFTER a few months everyone has seen to be moved on. The safety of our territory became more stable because of the adjustment that happens to mitigate the possible thing happening again. One is to strengthen our pack warriors' ability to fight. I am proud to say that my dad became the new instructor. He is already retired but he needs to teach the young pack warrior. We cannot let have scarcity in terms of defense mechanisms.
Another one is to have powerful backers from another pack territory. The more we have connections to each other, the more stability we can have.
My mate became busy. I know the pressure on his side. He is soon to be the alpha of the pack, he will be the leader that the member will hold on to. There is a commitment already for him to be placed.
We are now in the middle of the forest, there is a place there where flowers grow in spring. The cold days disappeared, and the flower blooms beautifully.
I remember when we were younger, we usually hang out here. There is also a nearby pond and river where we can catch some fresh fish that we will grill using the dried wood we collected on the ground.
I am seating on the ground, my back is resting on the body of an old tree. Kaiden is currently using my thighs as a pillow for his head. He has restless nights and days not sleeping, I mean sleep-deprived. He is snoring so loud that even a lion will be frightened. I know how tired he is.
He helps the pack warrior on maintaining peace and order. He manages to create plans and projects for the coming seasonal changes.
“Did I sleep for too long?” he asked weakly. His thick dark circles are so obvious. I also feel worried about his health. It is not because we are a werewolf and have a better body and mind compared to humans, we are still vulnerable to sickness that humans cannot stand with.
“You sleep fine, have enough rest you know. It is not bad to have a little time to relax and regain energy. You will make mistakes and be clumsy if you are sleep-deprived like this. It is better to have enough rest for another battle,” I said to him. Kaiden smiled and like the speed of light, he steal a kiss from me.
“Hey!” I said a little bit blushing. It has been a month ever since we became an official couple or mate, but I still cannot get over the fact that he is my mate. Mine and mine alone.
I remember our high school days. Those days have been hard and happy for me. Love before, I know it is a one-sided love.
I am the one who secretly heads over heels for him. Crush life feels good, feels better. Those moments that I can still glance at, those moments where I put his name and all the details in my diary. It just feels nostalgic.
But not all my memories are happy, and I know it. How come I know? I just know, because there are moments when he can date girls that are more than what I am before. He dated those girls that I am always been insecure with. It feels terrifying to remember how he can end be on someone.
“Hey, what is with the frown on your face,” he said to me with his worried expression.
I shook my head giving him a reassuring smile. After all, everything happened already in the past. It is something that should still matter up to this day.
“It is nothing,” I assured Kaiden.
He is now the one frowning right now. “You are my mate, you know. I can feel what you feel. You can feel so heavy right now. It is hard that somehow it is uneasy inside. I am someone who mated for you, who will be with you. Tell me, tell me everything and I am willing to listen. It is also my heart to help you in every way that I can,” I told him.
I averted my stairs and look in the opposite direction. I can feel the heating of my face because I am embarrassed right now.
“Well, I remember how I wish this can happen in our high school days. I wish we can bring back the time. I am so sorry for thinking so selfish also, but those days, I remembered how terrified and horrified way back. Because you date beautiful and sexy girls.”
He sighed and was seated now. Kaiden gave me a warm embrace that warms my heart in an instant.
“I feel sorry about it also. The truth is, I am also attracted to you before, but I tried to stop it from growing. I am afraid of losing you as my friend because maybe you do not feel the same way. I tried to stop feeling so in love with you by dating random girls, and I regretted it. I regret playing fire on the past, that may stain how you look at me right now.”
I shook my head and sighed. I gave him my smile and did everything to assure him. I know Kaiden is a strong guy, but he is not a stone. He has this feeling, he can be vulnerable.
And I decided that instead of being his weakness, I wi become his strength. Someone who he can lean on me.
“If you are tired, I can be your shoulder, I can be your comfort zone, I can be your friend, your everything that trusts, and be your weapon.”
After resting we also tried the same thing we do before. We are fishing and looks like we are lucky right now to have lots of fish to harvest. We share it with the other werewolf that is hunting and fishing here also.
We pick some berries, and we decided to spend the rest of the night here.
I gathered some wood from the forest and he is now doing our tenth. As the skies got darker, the stars and moon shine also.
As a part of being that feels connected with the night and moon. It feels so good to see the night.
We put a blanket on the ground and we are ready to spend the rest of the night.
“You know I love you, and always, and forever be,” he said to me.
I smiled. “Promise to me that you will never leave me.”
“I promise.”
