It has been for some weeks and I am enjoying it here, especially getting closer to Khloe every passing day. There is this behavior of her that I didn't know that she possesses like she is lively and more jovial to be around, all thanks to her mate because I know that he was the only one to tame the demon down.
Sipping my coffee as I chat away with Angel, Susan, and Vivian. The door was pulled open as Khloe barged inside.
"Hello, our humble Alpha…." I joked.
"You welcome, Alpha," Angel and Susan muttered.
"Uhmmm……" she gave us a little smile, something seemed off about her like she seemed angry and something again that I can't seem to place my finger on what exactly.
"What's wrong, Khloe?" Vivian asked before I could open my mouth.
"Nothing just that, Nicholas and his brother Derick came to my pack earlier yesterday," she confessed.
"They did what!..." We all exclaimed in unison.
"Hey, you guys should be calming down….." Vivian mumbled, "So tell us why they were there in the first place,"
"Yes, what brought them there?" Angel asked with Susan nodding her head in approval.
"They came looking for you," Khloe uttered.
"Me!.....
" Her!.......
We all seemed surprised at her words, I know that they will soon start looking for me but after Alpha Den's burial, I thought that they would stop looking for me because it has been weeks and months since I escaped. And for them coming to my former pack to look for me is total bullshit, do they expect me to run in there despite knowing that my parents will gladly hand me over to them again?
"Them coming to look for Miss Mira in your pack is the funny part……." Cracked Susan as she let out a funny laugh.
"I was thinking the same thing," said Angel.
"They will be stupid to think that I will allow my sister to go there and roam in their mess again, NEVER!" Vivian growled.
"The thing is that we need to be careful as they are doing all things to ensure that they find you," Khloe professed.
"So what do you think?" I asked.
"The look Derrick gave me yesterday didn't settle well….." She mumbled.
"Which look?"
"Is that why you didn't come back yesterday….." I asked.
"Yes, the look on his face was as if he wasn't believing what I was saying about not knowing your way about……
"And yes, I couldn't come back because I don't want anyone following me to know where I live," she declared.
The atmosphere seemed tense and unsettling as everyone seemed deep in thought, I don't know but my instinct told me that Derrick or Nicholas might barge into this place anytime soon.
"But……." Khloe suddenly mumbled
"What!......"
"Derrick seemed possessive about you like he cares and loves you……" she uttered.
"I don't understand what you are saying because I told you before that the two of them were the same," I claimed.
"I don't think the same because the love in his eyes says it all….." She expressed.
"The same applies to Nicholas though he can be an ass sometimes…." She muttered.
"If you know what I went through in that place, I don't think that you will say this thing," I angrily mumbled as my experience rushed into my head, crowding my thinking.
"We understand but what I am trying to say is that one of them might like you for who you are…." She encouragingly mumbled.
"I understand what you are saying and I always think the same, sometimes just that…..
" I can't believe that you guys can behave like this! Are you people tired of caring for me? I understand that I seemed like a huge burden to you guys but……." I didn't complete my words as tears rolled down my cheeks, trying to open my mouth but no words seemed to be coming out. It hurts that they could wish for me to accept the twins.
"Is okay….. But you all have to know that she is still hurting and this is not the right time for all this," Angel said as she walked up to me and embraced me in a cute friendly hug, not long and everyone joined her in hugging and consoling me.
"You know that you haven't told us the father of this child?" Vivian asked as everyone sat back on the sofa.
Sneezing I muttered with a faint tone, "Nicholas……
" WHAT!!..... They all blurted out in surprise and terror.
"Yeah, it sounds silly but……
" No! It sounds scary….." Susan grumbled.
"Poor Derrick…." Vivian mumbled with pain as she chewed her apple.
"So tell us how did you know the rightful father since you have already slept with the two brothers?" Khloe muttered with a narrowed expression.
"I didn't willingly sleep with Nicholas, you guys already know the story……" glancing at their faces they nodded as they gestured for me to continue.
"When I started noticing some strange feelings which made me uncomfortable I went to the hospital….."
"You meant that day that I saw you in the hospital….!!" Susan bewilderingly uttered.
"Yes, I went to the hospital and after several tests were conducted I was told to go home and return a few days later….. "
"And???" Vivian urged me to continue.
"But after being knocked down by Nicholas, Derrick rushed me to the hospital……." I swallowed and blinked back my tears. "I was woken up with the news of me being pregnant……"
"So then how did you know that the supposed child was Nicholas," Khloe confusingly questioned.
"Calm down, let her finish," Vivian grumbled. That's the thing with her these few days, she is always grumbling due to the pregnancy. Small things annoy her when I, on the other hand, eat a lot and I won't deny that I have added very well these past few days. Though I don't have a sound sleep due to my fear that soon enough that either of the siblings will quickly find me and the fear of how I am going to raise the child on my own, despite being determined to cater to the child, I worry that I couldn't give him the best.
"I asked the doctor after he broke the news of the pregnancy to me," I replied shortly.
"And from what he told me it was obvious that it was Nicholas' child and not that of Derrick….. Remember that I had sex with Nicholas before Derrick," I sadly mumbled.
"So sad……" Angel uttered.
"I am just imagining what you might be going through now," Vivian cried out, yeah one of the symptoms of the pregnancy.
"Wait! Between Nicholas and Derrick, which one do you love most?" Khloe questioned.
"None of them!" I do it as I roll my eyes at Khloe.
"Khloe, you stop ahh," Vivian unhappily muttered.
"Then tell me why you are so down that the child wasn't Derrick's own?" Khloe uttered as her forehead caressed in confusion. She refused to drop the question and it is high time that I tell myself the truth and stop fooling around.
"Yes! I think that I feel something for Derrick….. Something more than mate bond but the thing is that I don't think he feels the same now after the rumor that I killed his father," I quietly whispered with pain and anger, I don't know why I feel this kind of feelings for him but he doesn't seem to me like he cares.
"Whoa!!...." They both exclaimed with a taunting smile.
"Why did you say so?" The room suddenly went quiet as Angel questioned.
"I haven't been open to him and with the rumor, do you think that he might see me in that way or want anything to do with me again?" I sadly muttered.
"I am damn sure that he feels the same based on his reaction earlier……..
"And who said that I don't feel the same way for my mate!"
"Derrick…." I shrieked surprisingly as confusion flashed on my face. As his words sank in my head, my face softened, and Khloe suddenly appeared in my front as she displayed her defense code.
"Back away from my sister!" She growled.
"I meant no harm," lifting his arms he muttered as his eyes held me in place.
"How much did you hear?" Vivian asked, he turned to her and smiled, ignoring her question. Angel and Susan had their heads cast down.
"I asked you a damn question!" Vivian snarled. My heart aches with the way they were treating him but I know that it was for my good.
Fixing his attention back to me, he quietly muttered "Not much……" as his eyes flashed at my belly, he fixed his attention on it as I swallowed hard and adjusted uncomfortably. I just prayed that he didn't hear about the real father of the child, a smile curled up on his lips as he intensely stared at my belly which was in total display.
"How did you find out about this place?" Khloe coldly snapped at him.
Shrugging his shoulders, he muttered, "You aren't smart enough…."
"Okay! Calm down angry lion…." He uttered as Khloe madly bellowed at his word.
"I have my men's eyes fixed on you after visiting your pack…..from your attitude I know that you might know about her but being a sister you aren't going to easily open up," He confessed.
"Smart, huh!....." Khloe gave him a small smile which he returned before focusing back on me.
It felt like we were the only ones in the room as his gaze bored into mine, I forgot everyone and things around us. The only one that was occupying my mind was him, Khloe seeing our intense look, quietly shifted to the other side as he strode toward me with love and adoration flickering in his eyes. Cupping my cheeks he leaned in and gave me a mouthwatering kiss as an uncontrollable moan escaped from my throat. I half heard the murmuring and sisterly argument going on with my sisters, Angel and Susan.
"What's going on here!"
Everyone seemed tense as I suddenly broke the kiss with Derrick who seemed angry at me for ending the kiss. Instantly turning around, my body felt cold as I stared at those furious black eyes.
"Nicholas!....." I audibly mumbled.
