Marvel: Infinite Personalities Chapter 178

For some reason, at that moment, Raymond suddenly felt like he had just become a dad. "I'd better not tell David he has another father…" While Raymond was thinking this, the system was still running. The last ten bronze character cards he exchanged were still being activated one by one. However, most of the bronze sub-personalities weren't very useful. For example, there was Konoha's special jōnin home tutor, Ebisu, among others… Honestly, for Raymond now, even a silver sub-personality wasn't very meaningful unless it filled a specific skill gap. Bronze sub-personalities were even less useful. In a real fight, Raymond was more reliable fighting on his own than switching to one of them. The main reason he still exchanged ten bronze cards was to see if he could get a surprising bonus, like when he got the John Constantine Sub-Personality before. Unfortunately, luck wasn't on his side this time. The only one that could be called a mild surprise was "Silver Fox" Foxy, captain of the Foxy Pirates from the One Piece world. Although Foxy was very weak in power, he had a very unique Devil Fruit—the Slow-Slow Fruit. Anything hit by his slow beam would become many times slower. For example, if someone could run 100 meters in 10 seconds, getting hit would slow them down to less than a meter in the same time. That meant their speed was reduced by at least a hundred times. In a fight, if someone was unprepared and got hit by it, the results could be disastrous. In the One Piece world, Foxy completely wasted this almost cheat-level ability. But if used well, it could definitely be a deadly weapon. So among all the bronze sub-personalities this time, Foxy was the only one Raymond was at least a bit happy with. Inside his mind, Akainu noticed an old acquaintance had arrived and greeted him: "Borsalino, long time no see—" "Oh, it's Fleet Admiral Sakazuki. Didn't expect you here too," the Kizaru sub-personality replied in his usual sleazy tone. Even though he called him "Fleet Admiral," his tone was very casual. In their original world, the two had known each other for years, both called the Navy's "monsters" in their youth, and later served many years together as vice admirals and admirals. They knew each other well, though they weren't exactly close friends because their personalities didn't match at all. "Good afternoon, everyone. I'm Jiro, nice to meet you all…" the hunched old man said with a smile, greeting everyone. The moment he spoke, all the other sub-personalities went quiet. Whether they were old ones or newly activated ones, they all felt it—this old man was a gold-tier sub-personality! So far, the only one. Even though they hadn't seen him in action yet, just by looking at the gap between the old silver sub-personalities and the bronze ones before, it was clear how big the difference between ranks really was. In the end, it was the oddball John Constantine—whose value wasn't limited by rank—who stepped forward and broke the silence: "Sir, you're really strong. Please take care of us in the future…" "No problem, no problem." The old man Jiro nodded kindly, smiling warmly. "Senior Jiro, do you still remember me?" the Livebearer sub-personality suddenly asked in a low voice. "Hmm, aren't you… that guy… that… oh right, the owner of the Gourmet Casino?" Jiro scratched his head, taking a while to recall. "I didn't expect you to remember me. I'm honored." Livebearer smiled happily. "Of course I remember. I never forget someone who's bought me a drink…" Jiro laughed. Watching the sub-personalities in his mind catching up and getting to know each other, Raymond didn't interrupt. This had happened several times already, so it wasn't new to him. What interested him most, however, was the Professor X sub-personality, who had stayed silent since appearing. After creating a shadow clone, Raymond made it sit on a chair, then transferred the Professor X sub-personality into it. "Hello, main personality…" It was clear Professor X was a little puzzled at suddenly being pulled out from the mind space alone, but he quickly calmed down. Since the clone's body was modeled after the sub-personality's original body, this version of Professor X was also paralyzed from the waist down. That was why Raymond had the clone sit down first—to avoid a sudden fall after the switch. "Aren't you going to ask why I called you out here?" Raymond asked with a smile. "I think that's exactly why you called me out. Even if I don't ask, you'll tell me…" Professor X shrugged. "No one's told you talking like that will make you lose friends?" Raymond joked. Professor X just smiled. Seeing that, Raymond didn't beat around the bush and asked directly, "Can you tell me about your experiences before you came here?" Without hesitation, Professor X took a moment to recall, then began speaking. It was much like what Raymond already knew—in that world, mutants were being hunted and captured by sentinel robots made by humans. These robots could keep gaining new abilities, making them more and more versatile, able to counter almost any mutant. Even if they couldn't at first, they could be reprogrammed to fix their weaknesses. If they met a mutant without any clear weakness, they could overwhelm them with sheer numbers. In that situation, the mutant population kept shrinking, and their fate was tragic. Professor X had been part of the last resistance. Before he came here, they hadn't yet thought of using Shadowcat's ability to send someone to the past to change the timeline. In his memories, everything was filled with despair. Even with his powers, he couldn't stop the mutants from facing extinction—only join forces with his old friend Magneto to resist as best they could. Join .com/AHumanMadeMOFO to read ahead!
