Zamiel's POV
"Zamiel, she will be coming over tomorrow, you guys are going on a date" my mum informed me, but it looked like she was trying to give me some kind of instruction, rather than an information.
"Nope, we are not doing that" I made my decision clear.
"You will have to call her mother up, and cancel any plans you both have made so far. Because I don't see myself having anything to do with her, not to talk more of marriage'' I told her.
"Then why did you come home? And what were you guys doing in your room for so long?" She flinched, looking at me.
"Firstly, I only came because I saw like a thousand missed calls from Imogen. And secondly, I didn't ask her to come to my room, you did. We didn't do anything, and even if we did.
That doesn't mean I planned on marrying her or anything" I rolled my eyes, facing toward the staircase.
"You can at least give her a try, I know you don't like her. But, there is no harm in trying" My mum was trying her best to be understanding, for like three seconds.
"Yeah, there is plenty of harm in trying" I climbed up the staircase, not listening to what else she had to say. The conversation was over…or at least that was how I felt.
Hannah's POV
"And where are you coming from?" I heard my stepmom's voice from behind me.
Oh gosh! I had forgotten to call her, and inform her about the emergency at the office.
"I am asking you a question?!" She made her voice louder, and even scarier than it was the first time.
"I went to…. I…office" I stammered, not turning around to look at her.
"You can't talk now, I assume?" She sounded frightening, as her footsteps and voice got closer and closer to me.
"Why did you leave the castle without telling anyone?" She asked me, by this time she had already walked up in front of me.
"I am sorry Mom.." I was talking, but she interrupted me.
"Don't call me mom, I am not your mother" she corrected me. She had corrected me so many times, and she had restricted me from calling her so many times, yet I still made the mistake of calling her mom.
"Speak, I'm listening" she urged me to continue.
"I….I am sorry. There was an emergency at the office, and I was forced to leave. I thought about calling you, but my battery died.
And it took some time before I could charge my phone again. It kinda slipped my mind to tell you. And I felt my presence wasn't needed" I said in one breath.
"Of course, your presence was not needed. But, your father was still worried" She rolled her eyes.
"Don't ever repeat such nonsense. And stop calling that small workstation an office. You don't know what it means to have an office, but don't worry.
I am sure your sister will be kind enough, to give you the job of a cleaner when she inherits your father's property, and that of her soon-to-be husband as well" She hissed and walked away.
I had to laugh within myself, no doubt dad was going to give Joan all his property under my stepmom's influence.
As for her new soon-to-be husband, I am not quite sure about that. Because he wasn't even present when we arrived at the castle, my thoughts are that he isn't interested in Joan.
I wouldn't blame him though. I wouldn't be interested in her either. I let out a small giggle.
"And what seems to be funny to you?" I heard Joan walk up to me from behind. What is with these two scaring me all the time?
"Nothing, I am just tired. '' I tried my best to walk away, just to avoid any form of trouble. But, she was indeed prepared for that trouble.
"Are you walking out on me?" She was vexed, she looked so happy when she left the house, and now she seems so pissed, her life is just messed up.
"No, I told you I am tired, so I am going to have a rest and that is all. '' I heaved a huge breath.
"You won't rest yet, I will need you to go and wash my clothes. They have been piling up lately" she instructed me.
"There are so many maids and helpers in this house, why did you choose me?" I frowned.
"Because I want you to wash them. You are not going to refuse me are you?" She raised an eyebrow at me, looking at me as if she had employed me.
"What if I do?" I looked away from her, as I spoke.
"Mum…" she called for her mother, of course, that is what she had always used all these years to tie me down.
"I'm going to wash them" I stopped her, with a shaky voice.
An evil smile of satisfaction soon crawled up on her face. She looked dressed for a party, that's nice.
"I'll be leaving now, make sure you finish washing my clothes before I return..and please be careful while you are at it, I don't want you to ruin them" she-cat walked past me.
"Oh and, I'll like them hand-washed please" She turned around and said, waving with a smile on her face.
I turned around, thanking God she was gone, as I went to do as she had instructed.
I wouldn't want her mom to repeat what happened the last time, I still had the marks to remind me of the consequences of disobeying her.
"What the hell!!" I exclaimed, seeing a huge pile of clothes.
I was so tired, yet I forced myself to wash her clothes by hand.
"Ma'am, please rest. I'll do it, she wouldn't know" a maid offered, but I refused.
"That's okay," I told her while wiping my forehead with my soapy hands.
I already learned my lesson, from the last time I let a maid do the chore she assigned me.
