Hunter's P.O.V. ———————
I was just stepping into the office when the caretaker just walked
out. She's a lady above forties but looks a lot more aged that that.
I should really tell Dad to hire younger people.
Almost sitting on my chair when my door was thrown open and slammed
shut in seconds.
Then I was up on my feet again.
" Did you know?" Came Iris's seethed words.
No good morning or your files are ready?
The courage she uses will be the death of her.
" Iris are you really going mad? I'm just walking into the office and
that's the first thing you say to me? It's not like that question has a
logical base " My arms flailing around in contempt.
" Fine, let me rephrase "
So no apologies from her. Point taken.
" Did you know Mr Reid and Meredith were related?"
So that's what this is all about?
The red hair?
" Did I know Mr Reid and your red haired friend were related? Yes I do.
Mr Reid is her father, come sue me " I slumped into the chair.
Of course I had known, you can't work with Mason and miss out on how
much he misses the littlest and cutest red hair he had ever seen.
" You knew? Yet you made me go for that event!?" She shouted like that
was a bother.
" First of all, do not raise your voice at me. And secondly what does
the event have to do with it?"
" Well listen " She took strides till she was directly in front of my
table.
" Meredith is my friend "
" And she's not mine" I shrugged
" Of course she's not and she'll never be. Judging by your personality
I'd be surprised if you had any at all" She was most definitely primal
at the hour.
" Then I'll like to surprise you "
" Why didn't you tell me?" She asked almost breathing fire.
" It's none of your business "
" We're talking about one of my closest friends here!"
" Like I said, that was none of your business and it isn't mine either "
Her breathing shallowed and she stared at me like I spoke Martian.
" Huh?"
So i was right. She is confused.
" Mr Reid and his family is his business not mine. If anyone was to
inform you about that it should be him or someone from the Reid family
not me. Telling you about it is equivalent to spreading info about a man
I want to work with, info which I may add that I'm not sure of" I
explained hoping her stubborn skull will open and accept knowledge.
" That's a lie. You know fully well that they sent her away from the
family. So you're sure of it" Her skull is really thick.
" But neither you nor I are sure of the reasons she was sent away" I
added
" I am. She told me "
" And how sure are you that it's the truth "
She halted for a second. Maybe she felt it was impossible for a friend
to lie to her. But sorry iris, you've got to learn.
" Meredith would never lie to me" She finally released after seconds of
thoughts.
" How sure are you?" I raised a brow at her naivety.
Meredith may have told her the truth, but she has to be open for the
worst.
" What do you know?" She places her hands on her hips.
" I do know that after two years of knowing Mr Reid and his family, he
is a good man. So anything on the contrary should have a geniune reason"
She was about to speak again when my door was thrown open a second
time today.
Remind me to question my security later on.
And guess who just walked into my office?

Talking about bad timing.
" Yeah I'm not knocking " He said as he walked in but a smile tears
across his lips when he sets his eyes on Iris.
" Heyy " He breathes out and starts to walk in her direction, but the
girl before me is in no mood for pleasantries.
" Fine!" Iris mutters and only when I look in her direction do I realize
she's referring to our conversation.
She turns on her heels and marches out of the room, making sure to
avoid contact with Mason on the way.
She opened and slammed the door shut on her exit meanwhile Mason
looks like a rejected frosting.
And his face being priceless made me to burst into laughter.
" What happened?" He asked but his eyes still trained on the door my
secretary exited like she'll walk back in very soon.
I still found the scene hilarious so I continued in my laughter.
This is the exact definition of an epic day.
" Would you stop laughing and answer me before I choke you on your air
conditioning cable " Now he looks to me and his eyes were narrowed.
After calming myself down I released the biggest sigh of my life before
speaking.
" To begin with, she's mad at you " I said smirking.
" No shit Sherlock. Any reason as to why?" He hasn't still taken a seat
since he entered.
" She may have found out about the missing 'M' in your family "
" The missing wha- shit! You bastard! What did you tell her?" He growled
like he was a predator.
" I didn't. Your friend there is also friends with your sister. So can
you guess how she found out now?" I intertwined my fingers and watched
him unravel a non mystery.
Without another glance he was out of my office and my assumption is
to Iris.

Iris P.O.V ————
Hunter knew... He knew but he still let me go to that event like
Meredith's feelings don't matter.
I picked up a receipt that was delivered to my table this morning
before Hunter arrived
It was from Dwight's Academy. A receipt of confirmation for shares
deposit.
I opened my laptop to record the information when my door was opened
quick yet delicately.
" Jules I can explain " Mason walked in but I'm happy he knows my mood
and maintained a distance between us by remaining by the door.
" I don't have time f-"
" I was never in support of it " He cuts me off.
It was a family agreement?
" I don't understand?" I asked him and my interest in discussing the
topic brings him a step closer to my table.
" When they abandoned her I was truly against it. Michael and I "
Michael, her other brother.
" Why didn't you do something?" I asked him. Actions speak louder than
words you know.
" I tried everything, including Michael but they were hell bent on their
decision so we had to let it go "
" That's bullshit. If you loved her you will fight till the end"
" Of course I love her. I'm the only one who keeps in direct contact
with her. Ask her if you don't believe me "
She did mention it though.
I stayed silent for a while honestly not knowing what to really do or
say or feel about this.
" Michael has people secretly watching her that she doesn't know of. At
least we know she's safe"
They've been guarding her secretly?
" That's..... I don't know " I huffed and shut the laptop close.
" It looks very bad but I'm trying, our parents don't really show
emotions and all that but I know they miss her too and are being too
proud to admit it " He goes on explaining.
" What of your sisters?" He was leaving a part out.
He reaches to scratch the back of his head then answers.
" Mary is married so we really don't hear much from her"
There's another sister that I want to hear of.
" Michelle?" I fold my arm across my chest and wait.
After a sigh " She doesn't really care and I think that's why our
parents are still adamant on bringing her back. To them Michelle's
opinion matter"
Is there a reason why I shouldn't hate this girl already?
" Well that's good to know " I said and opened the laptop again.
" Jules I'm sorry "
His presence here is distracting in ways I do not want. I mean come
on, he's begging me.
" Why didn't you tell me?"
" I had no idea you knew Meredith. If I did I would have said something
to you "
I got up and walked to the cabinet where I keep recorded files and
pull the booklet for Dwight.
" What exactly would you have said? Hey, you know Meredith my abandoned
sister right? I don't hate her" I stated in a durh tone.
He walks up to me by the cabinet and takes hold of one hand which I
don't fight against.
" I would have made it clear to you that whenever you wanna talk about
it I'd be willing to explain it to you " He took hold of my second hand
and looked me into the eye.
" Jules I'm not a bad guy."
He's not and I know.
I can't believe I was angry at him.
I released a sigh and my shoulders that I never realized were tensed
somewhat relaxed.
" But I do admit that I need to keep up with her of recent " He adds as
he rests his forehead on mine.
" She asked if you all are okay" I told him but honestly my eyes were
just on his lips.
A sad chuckle escapes his mouth before he licks his lips " And what
did you tell her?"
" I said you're all fine" My voice was hitched and airy. This contact
is not good for me.
" I don't think I'm fine Jules, I'm not fine"
He really does miss her if i judge from his voice.
I slide my hands out from his and wrap them around him in an embrace.
He said nothing else but returned my hug and placed a light kiss on
the bridge of my nose.
