Seeing the fiend lured into the array set up by the two, Shen Wang was instead a bit worried that it would be killed.
"Never mind, let’s go back first."
While the two were fighting the fiend, Shen Wang turned into a shadow and approached the ancestral residence from another direction.
As he neared, a circle of electric light appeared midway, causing his body to go numb.
Shen Wang quickly scanned the area and realized it was an ambush array. A circle of black vigorous qi appeared on him as he forcibly moved forward.
A bell sound emanated from Yun Conghui’s sleeve.
"Not good, that kid is back!"
Yun Conghui immediately noticed.
They set up an array to stop Shen Wang from returning to his home. The array’s range was too wide, making its power average at best; it could only hinder Shen Wang, not stop him.
If it weren’t for this monster, they were confident that the array could block Shen Wang, forcing him to hand over people honestly.
Now with the fiend’s attack, he could not split his attention, only sensing Shen Wang passing through the array slowly and returning to his nest.
"No time now, deal with this thing first; as long as he’s back, there’s no fear he won’t run."
Ge Changzhuang snorted, wielding a long halberd to intercept most close combat attacks. He entered the attack array he had set up and sneered, "Now it’s your turn, kill him!"
Yun Conghui had already chanted a spell, and nearby came a crackling sound. Beams of thunder began to transform into a grid in the sky.
He pointed at the fiend: "Four-direction Thunder Net, go!"
The bright lightning gathered into a thunder serpent that struck the creature with a boom.
With a bang, the fiend shuddered under the lightning strike, its arm immediately charred black, breaking from its body and hanging limply.
The creature let out a cry. Much of the black aura on its body was scattered, and before it could retaliate, another thunder serpent struck it.
If Shen Wang’s electric shock only caused numbness, the fiend seemed like it was struck by a bolt of lightning. The black aura disintegrated, its body cracked open, and under two more thunder attacks, it shattered entirely.
With a roar, its body exploded, forming a violent blast that shook the ground.
Yun Conghui and Ge Changzhuang’s expressions changed. They hastily retreated, but still got caught in the blast’s aftershock, groaning as they were thrown backwards.
Shen Wang, who had just returned to the Yin Yang Inversion Array, saw this scene and showed a look of fear.
If he had been attacked by that array, he probably couldn’t have withstood two hits.
"I underestimated them."
Shen Wang felt a lingering fear. He thought escaping and successfully returning was enough.
He didn’t expect Yun Conghui to have an array flag that could arrange a complete set of middle-grade array.
Luckily, he used the opportunity of the fiend fighting the two to return almost unharmed.
"The Thunder Power is quite formidable!"
Shen Wang felt envious. His fire attribute was somewhat effective against these fiends, but compared to the thunder attribute, the destructive power was still inferior.
After the creature exploded, dust rose. A corner of the Four-direction Thunder Net Array set up by Yun Conghui was blown open, and a wisp of black gas flew out.
Shen Wang’s pupils shrank, looking at the two who were thrown over ten zhang away, and grinned.
"Thank you both for your righteous help in getting rid of one fiend for me."
He spoke deliberately, actually mocking and gloating.
"Kid, count yourself lucky, but let’s see how long you can hide in there."
Ge Changzhuang snorted coldly, touched his torn clothes, and flashed over to the shattered limb, finding that the exploded body did not dissipate.
"Is this thing a zombie or an evil spirit, but how can it have such a hard body?"
Ge Changzhuang was puzzled. An evil spirit is an energy body. Even if it can become tangible, it remains energy, quickly dissipating after an explosion.
The shattered limbs before him were clearly physical, suggesting a zombie, yet the initial ghost aura seemed like an evil spirit.
This left him bewildered.
Yun Conghui looked at Shen Wang: "You’ve been here for a year; you should know what it is, right?"
"What would a Qi Cultivation cultivator like me know?"
Shen Wang mocked: "If you two want to study it, feel free to stay here."
"Shen Wang, there was an ominous bloodshed event in your Shen Family before; I don’t believe you don’t know the situation."
Yun Conghui said coldly: "If you hope this will scare us away, you think too much."
"Even if I knew, I wouldn’t tell you, figure it out yourselves."
Shen Wang couldn’t be bothered to explain further. "I went out today and bought two more arrays. Let your Golden Core Zhenren come and try them."
Ge Changzhuang frowned at hearing this: "Where did you get the Spirit Stones to buy arrays?"
"Think for yourself."
Shen Wang was not interested in saying more and immediately entered the ancestral residence.
Jia’Er and others were waiting for him, relieved to see him return.
"Husband, we were waiting for you to come back for dinner."
Jia’Er said, her obvious belly showing.
"Remember to eat on time in the future, no need to wait for me."
Shen Wang ate, took out some supplies, and then performed routine tasks like nurturing the meridians of his wife and daughter and preparing medicine.
After putting everyone to sleep, Shen Wang went to the entrance to start setting up the new arrays.
He inspected around, finding the two arrays still well intact. As he took out a new array to set up, a cold wind blew outside.
Shen Wang sensed the disturbance, jumped to a high place and looked at the source. At Grave Mountain, another mass of black gas appeared, leaving him stunned.
Outside, Yun Conghui had just restored the Four-direction Thunder Net Array and saw new things appearing at Grave Mountain.
This time, the black gas seemed more massive, bringing gusts of cold wind, followed by one zombie after another below, making them seem numerous.
"Didn’t kill it earlier?"
Ge Changzhuang’s eyelid twitched wildly: "What kind of ghost is this, could it be immortal?"
