I entered the room and shut the door behind me only for me to see Faye curled up by her side and staring unblinkingly towards my direction. She didn’t make a move or gave a sigh like she heard the door open or not. She appeared like she was lost to the world.
“Faye.” I called softly as her eyes connected with mine. They looked so desolate and sad that I couldn’t help the pang I felt. We lost our child.
“I knew something like this was going to happen.” She said in a tone that was far too calm. “I felt pains and they told me to take it easy. I didn’t.” Faye said, This time tears fell from her face and she didn’t even bother to clean them.
If I had to guess, I would say that she was not even aware of the water on her face or where she was.
“All because I was worried about your affection towards the queen, someone who didn’t care that I even existed. I didn’t pose a threat to her and the only way which I could have being that, I lost it. I have lost my child and it is all my fault.” She broke down.
I hurried to her as I cradled her body in my arms, it has been a while I gave her any touch and still she still fit into my arms just like the first time she did when I put my arms around her.
“No Faye.” I replied. “It isn’t your fault, don’t say that. You are not the cause of our child loss, maybe it just was not meant to be.” I added as an afterthought as Faye broke down and cried her eyes out.
I wrapped my arms around her as I held her close, trying to comfort her for the loss which we both just experienced. I couldn’t help but feel bad at my role in it. I must have been the major part of that cause. I never wanted the child but I had grown accustomed to the child’s presence. If I had accepted the child would this had happened? I would not have caused the mother any threat and she would have carried the child to full term and given birth to him without much stress. No pregnant woman should have gone through what I put Faye through but still I did it.
“I hope you are finally happy.” Faye snorted, mucus running down her face, mingling with her tears but she didn’t give a care. This was a woman who cared very much for her physical appearance especially when I was with her and this was also a woman who was looking forward to motherhood, especially since I had taken all love and affecting from her.
Nobody wanted the woman who the king lost favor with and that was Faye, she lost favor through no fault of hers. Her only fault was catching my eyes because it was clear from the very onset that whoever I was going to be with will be discarded when Gwenn came home. Another reason why I hated her was the fact that she refused to let it end when our affair had ran its course and she found a way to successfully hold on to me and that was through the child that she just lost.
“You now have a reason to discard me, you can finally have your happy ever after with the woman you want to be with while not worrying about the child from the wrong woman inheriting your throne. I am sure that she is happy at this.” Faye spat out.
“Don’t be spiteful Faye, you know how Gwenn is?” I sighed as she shook her head.
“I know. She will probably sympathize with me and I hate her. He didn’t have to go My King. Am I being punished for trying to come between the two of you?”
“Faye, please stop.” I weakly replied. “If there is anybody being punished then it is the two of us and we are being punished for doing this to Gwenn. The gods are not that vengeful Faye.” I replied as I cradled her closer.
She went back to crying silently as I held her and that was all I could do.

Gwenn POV
I knew the hatred which would be placed my way before I entered the dining room that evening but I didn’t want to eat alone and Arius was still missing. I felt jealous at the fact that Arius was with Faye and after the jealousy came the guilt. I understood where he was with her. They just lost their child, someone made of them both.
Getting to the dinning room, the conversation which were flowing between Arius siblings stopped the moment the first one saw me and drew the attention of the rest. His brothers were watching me, some with disapproval while others with guided sympathy. The sister were the different story.
“You have to be kidding me.” Vastae growled. “What are you doing here?” He added. “Haven’t you done enough damage as it is?”
“Damage?” I asked confusion written on my face and my voice wary, wondering what was going on.
“Don’t give us your coy act, we all know that you are responsible for the death of the supposed future king. What is it? Did you discover that you are pregnant, that is why you decided to kill Faye’s child?” Catia demanded as I flinched.
“Unlike you who is so bitter and filled with rage which you cannot help but spew, I am not like that. I didn’t kill anybody and it would do you all good to remember that before you go out accusing innocents.” I retorted.
“Innocents?” Kastav laughed. Normally his brothers don’t say anything so I was shocked when Kastav jumped into the conversation. “You were never an innocent. You tormented her and made her scared to even breathe in your direction from the moment you came here.”
“She was doing what you are doing right now. Undermining me.”
“Maybe you are wrong to undermine us too.” Kastav asked as I felt something brush against me that left me feeling cold and taking a step back from Kastav, even though I was still far from the table.
“I didn’t do anything to her?” I gritted out.
“And how are we supposed to be sure?” Vala replied. “Your location during when her bleeding started was unknown, I am sure that you understand the reason why we would want you interrogated.”
“What?” I snapped, heavens know that I will not sit still and let these unhappy people do whatever they want to me in the name of finding out the truth.
“You heard her…” Catia replied.
“I would like to see you try it.” Orel voice came from the doorway, cool and dangerous. “Lay a hand to imprison Gwenn or drag her to the interrogation room, I dare you to.” He added as he advanced towards me and stopped beside me.
“Anybody want to try?” He asked and when no hand went up or nobody advanced to try and hold me, Orel nodded.
“Let’s get you to where Themis wishes to take dinner for today.” Orel said as he laid a hand on her biceps and dragged me out of the room with him. All that went through my mind was I couldn’t hide behind Orel or Arius forever. I needed to make these people fear me.
