Last Divinity: The Advent Of Dreams Chapter 1

The sound of footsteps on sand echoed below the star less night. " Ouch." Cried a feminine voice as it owner fell and crashed on the cold sand below. " Get up, we need to go." Another feminine voice said with urgency. Terrifying clicks filled the darkness around them and heavy footsteps could be head galloping towards them at rapid speed. The sound of a sword cutting through the air could be heard from metres away. A scream shook the souls of those who dared to brave the star less night. The sound of tearing flesh and crunching bones made their knees weak. However they were not at liberty to stop and worry about others. For it they do, they might never run again, let alone see the light of dawn. " We’re almost there, it almost morning keep running." The urgent feminine voice urged again. The people ran as fast as their legs could carry them. From the distance they saw a shadow standing tall as if reaching for the heavens. They ran even faster towards it. Terrified screams could be heard every now and then but no one dared to stop. As they were about to reach the shadow the clicks and screeches grew quiet. They looked up and from the distance they saw red paint the sky. Relief and panic sunk in, a contradiction that was strangely easy to understand. They ran even faster, as the surroundings lit up the shadow became clearer, it was mountain reaching for the sky. Near it base was a cave. Multiple figures could be seen running towards this cave as if their lives depended on it. Yet nothing was on their hills besides the red glow of the sun. One of them fell, a feminine figure with a sword ran back to get them. The red glow closed in and just as it was about to reach them, they jumped into the cave. ---------------------------------------------------------- Khaladrel heard a scream, he had just woken up with a splitting headache to find himself trapped in the body of a mortal. He had felt pain before but that was conceptual, feeling it as a mortal was a whole different matter. He was already in a bad mood and now some people intruded into his home making a ruckus. He stood up and went towards to the outer cave where those people were ---------------------------------------------------------- Viona gritted her teeth and looked at her burnt leg. This was the worst possible situation. As the best fighter here, being wounded meant less ability to hunt and protect her tribe. She raised her head to look at the cave they were in. It was spacious, it roof stood at over 40 metres above them. The cave itself was around 400 metres across. On the other end was a huge statue, she didn’t recognise it. However looking at it gave her peace, as if it was depicting a vastly powerful being. " Is..that a god?" She whispered. Suddenly the statue lit up with golden light filling the entire cave. She panicked for a moment thinking it was sunlight. ---------------------------------------------------------- Khaladrel watched these mortals with fascination. They were exhausted and obviously hungry. However he noticed one of them looking at the statue of...’ Me? Is that me?’ the statue looked exactly like him. His human manifestation of his past God form anyways. ’ Could this world be under the domain of dreams?’ He couldn’t tell, he could try to read the stars but for that he would have to wait until nightfall. He decided to wait and see what happens. Even though he was sealed in a mortals body he was still a god and was way more powerful than this people, probably. He had a trickle of divine energy and needed worship to receive more and grow stronger. Perhaps someday he can return to being a true God. And these mortals were perfect for starting his religion. Surely seeing the magnificent statue of a mighty God such as he, they will prostrate themselves in worship. He waited, time passed. ’ Any moment now.’ the mortals continued sitting there in despair, they seemed to lack hope yet didn’t pray, it was strange. ’ They’re probably still in shock, I’ll give them more time.’ time passed and nothing. He was getting frustrated. This was strange, mortals always prayed to him. As one of the primordial Gods he had a large following spanning a huge portion of the universe. He had thousands of major and minor Gods below himself. Eventually he got tired of waiting and wanted to reveal himself. He was about to go out then he stopped, currently he was a mortal, they certainly would not worship a mortal. However that’s the great thing about worship. You can create an avatar or idea of a God for people to worship. Infact all the primordial Gods had different names and depiction from different cultures yet all the worship went to them still. Now the issue was how to reveal himself. ’ Make the statue shine and directly tell her to worship me? No that won’t work.’ Then an idea struck him. He made the statue glow up then came out from behind it. The people panicked and backed to the conor. A few brave men stood forward protectively. The wounded woman stood up and used her sword to balance herself but she looked at him vigilantly. Ved didn’t pay her any mind. He used the little divine energy he had to create two candles. Just creating these candles drained more than 30 percent of his divine energy. ’ Maybe I should’ve just made one.’ He couldn’t help but lament the loss. The people looked at him but he said nothing. He pretended to not even acknowledge them. He knelt Infront of the statue, placed the candles Infront of him and lit them up. Then he folded his hands in a prayer and closed his eyes. He could feel their piercing stares on his back. He stood like that for an entire minute then blew out the candles. He couldn’t afford to waste them. He stood up and looked at them then smiled gently. " Greetings weary travellers, I’m Khali, welcome to my humble abode."
