Knights and Magic Wand Chapter 69

69: Chapter 54 Knight_2 69: Chapter 54 Knight_2 He quickly opened his eyes wide and bent over, which saved him from dropping the heavy weapon from his hands. “Sorry, this thing really is on the heavier side. If I hadn’t been eating and sleeping well lately, building up my strength, I wouldn’t have been able to move it either.” Lokhak hastily steadied the Halberd with an apologetic gesture. “Er, it’s fine, it’s fine.” The Attendant’s face turned slightly red with embarrassment; he initially assumed the young man had an unremarkable appearance and completely hadn’t anticipated the Halberd being so heavy. Almost losing grip with one hand was a close call that could have been embarrassing. Arms clamped around his own Riding Spear, the Attendant grabbed the Halberd with both hands and raised it upright, glancing at Lokhak who was sheepishly scratching his head, then turned and walked into the hall, reflecting in his heart. These children truly are out of the ordinary… At the top of the hall, Count Trolsa, who was discussing frontline war matters with Baron Eriv, looked towards the three youths entering. Seeing Leon carrying a clearly injured companion who had trouble walking, the Old Earl quickly asked the Attendant to bring chairs for them as well. The three expressed their thanks respectfully and then took their seats on the newly added chairs. “What are your names, the two of you? Tell us about your backgrounds,” Count Trolsa asked kindly. “Azeryan Flare, respected sir,” the noble son straightened his body as much as possible, his left hand lightly touching his brow before placing it gently over his right shoulder in a salute. “You’re not the son of commoners?” Count Trolsa discerned the status represented by the young man’s manners. “Yes, your Excellency, I am the son of Baron Chaleman from Rolannar City Council of Governance, but my father perished in battle at Rolannar, and all our lands fell into the hands of the Kantadar people,” Azeryan replied truthfully. Leon listened and couldn’t help but glance at the lad. To be honest, neither he nor Lokhak had really inquired in detail about each other’s family backgrounds on their journey. The original body, being of common birth, naturally didn’t know who this Baron Chaleman Flare was. But the title of Holy Land City’s Council of Governance carried a lot of weight in the memories of his current body, far from an insignificant figure. Although, talking about all this now was meaningless, since the Holy Land City had fallen, and whether they were important figures or not, they were all finished. “May your father’s brave soul rest in peace,” Count Trolsa nodded in a gesture of respect. Then, the Old Earl turned to the other tall youth in black armor. My father was a sergeant of the Sword Guard within the Rolannar City Guard Army, he too fell in battle, and all my other family members have been killed, only a sister remains at the hands of the Kantadar people… her whereabouts unknown,” Lokhak answered with a somber honesty. “There is a saying in Orland that after great misfortune reaches its peak, it will not last long, you will see your loved ones safe again,” the Old Earl said comfortingly. Then it was Leon’s turn to carefully narrate the sad and tragic background of the hunter family of his current body. Count Trolsa listened intently, his fingers instinctively tapping on the armrest of his chair. The fate of the Holy Land City in the east was worse than the reports that had reached Orland. The Kantadar army had ruthlessly blood-washed the ancient Holy City that had stood for a thousand years. And from Lokhak’s words, he learned some previously unheard information. Such as the Kantadar people’s siege equipment capable of flying over towering walls to precisely target within the city, and the Lightning and thunder powerful enough to collapse millennium-old walls… When had the Kantadar people received assistance from a group of powerful Mages? Setting aside his complex thoughts, the Old Earl refocused his attention on Leon’s narrative. The youth talked about how the three became prisoners, then joined forces to kill the mercenary guards, traversed mountains and valleys, endured meals in the open air, contended with Demons, avoided fierce beasts, and unintentionally stumbled into Nightmare Forest following a river. To think, no one knew the true nature of that perilous land; just hearing about the absence of sky and direction, with zombies wandering about the forest, was enough to marvel. “You said you encountered the soul of a Mage in the Cursed Land?” Upon hearing the youth’s adventures, Count Trolsa and the other nobles around suddenly developed a keen interest. He continued telling his modified experience in Cursed Land. In this version, he happened to come across the ghost of an old Mage with a White Beard who had died in the Cursed Land and with his help, eventually managed to escape the domain. He had to change the story in this way, especially regarding Miss Lora, out of necessity. He could not explain Lora’s origin, and letting these people know that he bore the soul of a mysterious deceased could cause trouble. And most importantly, Leon did not know whether Miss Lora wished others to know of her existence. Anyway, she had helped him countless times. Although unable to communicate at the moment, she was still watching the surroundings through his eyes. He certainly did not want to disrespect this mysterious Miss Mage’s privacy and upset his life-saving benefactor. So, ensuring the truthfulness of the overall experiences, Leon credited the help Lora had provided him to some Gandalf with a White Beard. After all, these nobles had no way of going into the Cursed Land to verify it. He then finished the narrative with the rescue of an injured Griffin and the saving of a village. And after hearing the youths’ narrative of an adventure akin to a heroic journey, the Knights present relished the story as if they had watched a dramatic play. This was far more interesting than the tales fabricated by the actors in the Royal Capital Theater, and what’s more, this was a proven real-life experience. “Do you still have that Spirit Lamp that guided you?” A voice came from a side seat.
