Knights and Magic Wand Chapter 42

42: Chapter 38 Desperate Rescue 42: Chapter 38 Desperate Rescue Hidden in the corner of a village cottage, three people were gazing out the window at the large house behind the village marketplace. A Noble Knight, clad in plate armor and leaning on a Halberd, was standing guard at the doorstep with two Attendants also dressed in plate chain armor. Not long ago, a group of Kantadar people had emerged from the large house. At their head was a Noble dressed in particularly eye-catching Armor, who had now disappeared with his soldiers somewhere. Shortly after their departure, a few people saw two Soldiers carefully carrying the old blacksmith’s body, bringing him into the large house. It seemed that Olivia was still inside. After all, from what Azeryan had relayed about the Pockmarked Cavalryman’s conversation, these guys were using the life of the old blacksmith to threaten Olivia into surrendering. If the girl had already met with misfortune, they certainly wouldn’t keep the old blacksmith alive. With the assumption that Olivia’s life wasn’t in immediate danger, Leon and his companions felt considerably relieved. But now came the problem, how exactly were they going to get in? Looking at the formidable Spear Knight in Heavy Armor at the door, along with his fully armored servant cavalry, Leon found himself in a quandary. A big tin can and two little tin cans. If it were just ordinary Kantadar Soldiers in Iron Covered Chain Armor, they might have taken a chance to fight. But the towering, tower-like Knight at the door looked impenetrably daunting. The Spear Knight was completely covered in Heavy Armor, and if it came to a real fight, Leon didn’t even know where to strike. With only a Long Sword and a bow and arrow, he couldn’t inflict any damage on the Knight’s thick plate armor. Besides, who knew whether there were other guards inside the house keeping watch over the girl. If a fight broke out and alarmed the Soldiers inside, forcing them to hurt Olivia, then this whole adventure would have been for naught. “Do any of you have a good idea to lure those guards away?” Leon turned back to discuss the strategy with his companions. “How about I pretend to report to them that Orland Army troops have arrived outside the village? Trick them into gathering at the village entrance,” Azeryan suggested. Leon crossed his arms, pondering the likelihood of success for this diversionary tactic, but still shook his head. “I think the Kantadar Noble who left earlier is the leader. Since the Knight at the door has been left to guard Olivia, he most likely won’t leave his post voluntarily. If he asks you to report the military situation to that Noble, we’re exposed.” “Or, how about we sneak to the back of the large house and set a fire?” Lokhak suggested. The youngster remembered from Minstrel’s tales of heroes that this was how protagonists would rescue their friends from prison. Azeryan immediately rejected Lokhak’s plan: “Not to mention whether we could set the large house on fire, even if we could light it up, those Kantadar people wouldn’t bother to put out the fire. Even if the whole village caught fire, they could just take Miss Olivia and leave the village.” Indeed, that was the case. Moreover, if the commotion got too big and attracted more Soldiers from all around to check the situation, then they would truly have no opportunity at all. As the three discussed, they came up with several deceptive words to fool the guards, but after discussion, they felt none were reliable. As they spoke, Leon suddenly felt a vague twinge of hunger. It had been almost more than ten hours since he last ate, late the previous evening. Add to that the intense exertion from killing Kantadar Soldiers earlier, and it was only natural to feel hungry now. Leon looked around subtly. The cottage was in complete disarray, having been ransacked. Even the breakfast that the original house owner’s family had not yet managed to enjoy was scattered and flipped over on the table by the invading Kantadar Soldiers. Several pieces of brown rye bread with teeth marks on them, it was unknown whether they were left by the missing homeowner or nibbled by the thugs. Just as he was about to signal to his companions to quickly eat something from the table, an idea suddenly dawned on Leon. “I’ve got it!…” He came up with a plan that might just work. …At the entrance to the large village house. Adjusting the weapon belt under the edge of his Chest Armor, the Spear Knight at the door shifted his heavy feet, feeling a bit of soreness in his neck. (Urian Language) “Master, there’s a box over at the corner. Shall I bring it over for you to sit?” asked one of the Attendants considerately. “Um,” the Knight nodded slightly, indeed feeling somewhat weary. After fleeing the battlefield and rushing all the way, he hadn’t slept well outside the village last night. Having captured this wretched village, he had wanted to find a bed and rest properly, but now he had to stay alert to guard the blonde girl in the house for the Sealing Lord, until the other Knights had enough rest to take over the watch. In his opinion, the Lord’s temperament was truly incomprehensible. The girl did look attractive, but the Baron was not lacking in beautiful women. Moreover, once they got back to Kantadar, what plaything would they not have? What situation had they come to now, trapped in enemy territory without direction, still thinking about playing with women? Especially such a dangerous girl. He had heard of unlucky fools in the army who had been castrated while raping women. Was Lord Dawson not afraid of being emasculated by the girl in bed? Even the weakest girl could burst a man’s fragile hold, let alone a female Swordsman who could defeat formidable Knights with a real sword hilt. Mamor was still lying in bed, uncertain whether his leg could be saved, hoping that back home those Athias robe-men could heal him… he really didn’t know what to say. With unspoken complaints and grumbles in his mind, the Spear Knight walked over to the wooden box brought by the Attendant, sat down, and leaned against the doorpost, only then feeling a bit of comfort.
