Knights and Magic Wand Chapter 126

126: Chapter 82: Returning to the Dangerous Land 126: Chapter 82: Returning to the Dangerous Land … Seeing the Jun Ying carrying the two combatants flying further and further away, a distressed Kovis had to descend from the tree trunk back to the ground. (Lorelette Language)”Seeking the response of the Earth Soul, spirits of the woods, kindly listen to your “Song of Nature”… forming a rune with his hands, Kovis drew a glowing streak of Magic Power with two fingers and touched the tips to his ear. He listened intently, the wind howling and insects chirping, birds singing and beasts bellowing. He discerned the panting and snorting not far away, opened his eyes, and made his way through the dense shadows to find the black Warhorse wandering confused in the woods. He mounted the horse, grabbed the reins, and chased in the direction where the Jun Ying had flown. Soon, he emerged from the woodland, Kovis looked up searching for traces of the Riding Beasts. Spotting the soaring Jun Ying suddenly tuck its wings and drop, he drew Leon’s Sword, his heart burning with urgency as he hurried over. But before he got much closer, he heard Emmon’s piercing scream exhausting his throat. Waves of terrifying sound bombarded his eardrums, the eerie reverberations causing splitting headaches. The Jun Ying, having not shaken off its master in the sky, had exhausted its last bit of loyalty. The frightened Riding Beast frantically flapped its wings, throwing off the two on its back, and took flight, escaping the ominous noise behind. Kovis’s Warhorse also abruptly halted far away, panicking and continually backing up. Unable to get close, the boy couldn’t help but clutch his throbbing head in agony and look ahead painfully. The Mage struggled on the ground, rolling around, his eye sockets and wide-open mouth and nose as if they had swallowed a sun, spewing out a blinding bright light that illuminated the surroundings. Leon lay motionless on the ground. The Warhorse, in a panic, tried to flee; Kovis had no choice but to dismount and hide behind a nearby jumble of rocks, covering his ears tightly. For a long time, until the piercing sound gradually disappeared, the boy, enduring dizziness and discomfort, peeked out from behind the rocks and looked again. The screaming had ceased. The Mage’s body knelt on the ground, stiff and motionless like a puppet, the blinding light had vanished from Emmon’s face, his eye sockets pitch black, with unsettling streams of Magic Power swirling around his body. In the youth’s field of vision, the air around Emmon seemed distorted, trembling and twitching like an illusion. Kovis turned his head, looked again at Leon still lying on the ground, bit his teeth, suppressing an inexplicable fear, and rushed forward. However, the closer he got, the more distorted the scene before him appeared. The surrounding environment seemed stirred like ink, the colors and light increasingly severed from reality. The boy sensitively perceived the incredible pervasive Chaos Magic, continuously flowing out from Emmon, sweeping through his consciousness like a tempest over his body. As if every cell was screaming a warning of danger, each step felt as if moving against a storm trembling the soul. Sweating profusely, he finally reached Leon, picked up his companion with utmost speed, turned, and stumbled away from Emmon. The moment his body felt slightly relieved, Kovis ran for his life exhaustedly, panting as he carried Leon out of range. Daring not to pause, he used magic to place his companion on the Warhorse’s back, then staggered to grab the reins, and continued to flee into the distance. Leading the horse over rugged hills, he ran for who knows how long until night fell, and the boy breathlessly stopped. Ignoring the fatigue, he turned to check on his companion’s safety; Leon’s faint breath and the almost imperceptive pulse made him increasingly anxious. After pondering for a moment without further delay, the boy immediately activated a Demon Rune, grasped Leon’s left wrist, and transferred the last of his Magic Power. Weakness filled his mind. After continuous exertion, Kovis could no longer endure such torment, nearly exhausting his Magic Element as he collapsed to the ground… Awakening from a deep sleep. The blond boy saw a sky rolling like vibrant ink. For a moment, he even doubted if he were still in a dream. Turning his head to look around. The Warhorse was tethered to a nearby tree trunk, restless. Still, despite the chaotic sky above without a trace of sun, moon, or stars, the surroundings remained visibly clear, as if filtered through a distinct layer of color. Could it be inside a Spirit-like Field? Surprised, Kovis’s mind flashed through fragments describing the scenery of the Cursed Land. “Are you awake, can you move?” Leon, hearing movements from behind, stopped marking the ground, turned his head, and asked. Kovis propped himself up to sit, feeling a little relieved seeing a familiar face unharmed; it seemed that his last effort to save was not in vain. But looking around at the towering trees, he couldn’t help but ask questioningly, “Is this Panglos Forest?” He guessed that Leon might have brought him into this Spirit-like Field as initially planned. “Um, I owe you an apology for going overboard.” Leon turned back with a smirk, “When I woke up, I didn’t see any enemies, couldn’t grasp the situation, but saw your rune still active and thought that Emmon might still pursue, so I followed the original plan and brought you here.” After all, it wasn’t until Leon headed blindly into the range of Nightmare Forest that he learned from Miss Lora, who could speak again. That Mage Atiyas was now unable to protect himself, let alone continue the pursuit.
