Knights and Magic Wand Chapter 115

115: Chapter 77 Scapegoat_3 115: Chapter 77 Scapegoat_3 Manipulating the wooden cone floating in front of him, Kovis plunged it fiercely into the corpse’s chest cavity. Squishy grinding noises of flesh and blood followed. After repeatedly crushing and destroying until he was sure he had utterly ruined the opponent’s heart and other magic organs, the young man dissipated the Object Control Magic. “Do you need to be so careful?” Leon, watching Kovis give the corpse these extra stabs, was somewhat surprised. “Yeah, I destroyed all his organs so that even if someone wanted to Summon, it would be impossible now. The safest thing would be to set the body on fire, but that would attract the guards, so let’s leave it be for now,” Kovis replied. That was true, there were Undead in the world after all… Leon thought, then turned his gaze to the metal long wand that the corpse was clutching. Honestly, he hadn’t left because he wanted to search the corpse. The Magic Wand was ornately carved, with a design of spread wings at the tip, and a large red Crystal Stone embedded between the feathers. It certainly looked like a valuable treasure. Guided by the principle that a thief does not leave empty-handed, Leon asked the teenager who was preparing to leave the room, “Aren’t you going to take his Magic Wand?” Kovis gestured for Leon to stop: “It’s best not to touch Pilireno’s personal belongings; who knows whether this guy set up traps on it before he died.” Heeding the warning, Leon reluctantly withdrew his hand. He had thought he could loot this old bastard’s equipment. “Don’t worry, there’s something more valuable than that. I’ve already prepared the items I need for the escape, and you can just help me carry something,” Kovis said, pulling Leon and rushing out of the bedroom. Following the blonde youngster, the two ran to a room not far from Pilireno’s bedroom. Leon watched Kovis sketch a few signs in front of that door, and the door shimmered with flowing light, as if some kind of restraint was being lifted, then pushed open with a shove. Stepping inside, they saw a collection of strange objects, various types of containers, delicate instruments, and shelves full of unidentified materials and decorations. This might be a Mage’s workshop. Kovis wiped the blood off his head with a towel from the table and rummaged through it for something, tossing it casually towards Leon at the entrance: “Catch.” Leon reached out and snapped it up; looking closely… was it actually an egg? In his hand was a large egg with a solid feel, almost the size of an ostrich egg, and wrapped around the surface was a ring of gold protrusions, though it was unclear whether they were sticky or had been inlaid. “That Magic Wand can’t be touched, but I’ll give you this Griffin Egg; this is probably the most valuable thing here,” Kovis said, not stopping his movements, as he pulled out a prepared bag from the cabinet and strapped a Light Sword engraved with runes onto his belt. “Two months ago, that guy and a few Mages cooperated in hunting a nest of Griffins. This was Pilireno’s share of the loot; I’ve been guarding and preserving it ever since, and there have been no tricks done to it.” Kovis explained as he slung the not-so-large bag over his shoulder and left the workshop with Leon, heading downstairs and hurrying toward the courtyard outside. Leon raced after him while turning the treasure in his hands over and over. The more he thought about it, the more alarmed he felt. Could this thing in my hand be… the child of a Death Claw? Without further thought, they hurried to the wall where the Guardian Magic had failed. Azeryan was already waiting there with Miss Elena. I was only in the room for a while, and when I came out, I couldn’t find Martha and the others. Did you see where they went?” Elena, upon seeing the blond youth, anxiously asked. “Weren’t they in the room? Didn’t I tell them to stay there tonight and wait?” Kovis couldn’t help but furrow his brow tightly. According to the plan, if they had indeed successfully killed Pilireno and were no longer bound by the Blood Oath Curse, it should have been Elena who informed the others to flee together. “I’ve looked around with Elena, and indeed, we found no trace of the other slaves,” Azeryan said helplessly. The slave girls they had intended to rescue had all disappeared… but they had no time to delay and search for them anymore. They comforted the worried Elena with reassuring words. Fortunately, this lady was not one to lose sight of the severity and urgency of the situation. With life and death hanging in the balance for everyone, she had no choice but to push her concern for the others back down. Kovis cast a spell to manipulate a rope to hook on the battlements of the wall, allowing everyone to climb the city wall in succession. The night was dark, but the blond youth had come prepared. He drew the runic Sword from his waist as a focus for his magic, and a bright fluorescent light immediately emanated from the blade. Leaning out from the exterior wall, he gestured to guide the Sword down, illuminating the escape path beneath. With the illumination of this light, the group once again used ropes and footholds on the exterior wall to slowly descend to the small trail at the edge of the cliff. Hand in hand and hugging the rock face, the four finally vanished into the vast night. Shortly after they left along the cliffside pathway. An inconspicuous small boat slowly emerged from a hidden sea-eroded cave beneath the northern cliffs by the sea. The Minstrel lying at the bow of the boat tipped the feathered hat covering his face with his fingertips, then turned his head, seemingly interested as he gazed towards the depths of the night. His gaze was as if he could pierce through the darkness, peering beyond the distant reefs to the shallows. “Hehe, always taking the fall for others, this time someone else is covering for me, nice~” Hearing this, Larian, who was huffing and puffing with the oars at the stern, couldn’t help but look up. The young Knight, with a long knife at his waist and aided by the light from the lantern hanging on the mast, glanced at the Minstrel at the bow, then looked bewilderedly at the cabin, where beautiful girls were huddled together. Clearly, they too were curled up and unsure of what to do. Larian swore that he only recognized Miss Magreina, his beloved. As for the other ladies, he truly didn’t know where the kind-hearted Minstrel had gathered them from. “Cheer up, Larian, isn’t rescuing damsels in distress the most honorable deed for a Knight? And being surrounded by so many beautiful girls, don’t you feel blessed?” The Minstrel turned his head back and teased jokingly. Larian dared not agree with that statement; seeing the narrowing sweet gaze of his loved one that signaled no good, he could only shake his head in a show of fidelity, smirking in response to his lover.
