Chapter 1612: Chapter 72: Feigned Attack (Part 3)
“Whizz, whizz, whizz…”
The familiar sound of arrows in the air resounded, and a quick-reacting Centipede Soldier immediately fell to the ground.
Seeing this scene, his companions chose to follow suit. Unfortunately, they were still a step too late, and their bodies were pierced by arrows.
The sound of wailing constantly rang in his ears, and the Centipede Soldier lying on the ground didn’t dare to move a muscle.
Fortunately, tonight was a feigned attack, and the charging Centipede Soldiers were very dispersed. Though the momentum seemed overwhelming, in reality, there weren’t many soldiers participating.

It was clear that these guys were veterans with more experience in playing dead than he did.
Compared to him simply falling to the ground, those guys had fake wounds, but none were hit in vital spots.
“Kid, what are you looking at? You dare to pretend to be dead without any bloodstains on you! Don’t you value your life!
You’re lucky to meet kind-hearted me.
Later, roll around on the corpses a bit, get some bloodstains on you, and make some minor injuries before going back.”
His companion’s words opened up a new world for Kogtaluo, making him realize that pretending to be dead was an art.
His intuition told him that the companion was full of hostility towards him. If he wasn’t sure he could avoid discovery, he’d already be a dead Centipede.
The warning was probably out of concern that an accident might implicate him.
“Don’t worry, I’ve got experience!”
Kogtaluo forced himself to speak calmly.
But compared to his blood-covered companion, he, covered in dirt, was not convincing at all.
Looking around, Kogtaluo was surprised to see that many bodies seemed to be stirring.
They weren’t the only ones playing dead!

The feigned attack plan was very successful, with the main force beginning to leave the city one after another, while the enemy still remained entrenched in the camp.
Marshal Howell, sitting in command, showed no trace of joy on his face.
The mission tonight seemed about to be completed smoothly, but from the enemy’s actions, he had determined they had fallen into a trap!

Marshal Howell ordered gravely.
It was true that once day breaks, they could retreat, but they also had to hold until dawn actually arrived.
As the Rear Army, their responsibility went beyond just a feigned attack.
Should the enemy pursue, they also had to fend off the enemy, buying time for the main force’s departure.
If the morale was high and soldiers willing to fight to the death, there might be a chance of executing such a task and withdrawing safely.
