Mrs. Anastasia Donkor stood in the middle of the living room with her husband at the door that opened to the corridor. They were expectant as the door opened and Koryo rushed in. Her demeanour was unusually calmed, suggesting someone who was troubled or had had no sleep for the past three days. However, as usual, she was neatly dressed, immaculate hair style and looked elegant as ever. Certainly Greg and Anastasia were surprised to see her at that time of the day: twelve noon. She should have been on campus. Moreover, Koryo has never visited the Donkors without the company of Ama and or when the latter was not at home. Whatever secrets existed between the two friends happened on campus behind the blind side of their parents. People who came into contact with Ama and Koryo saw normal decent girls who were no different from any other children of their age: happy, agile kids with brighter future ahead of them.
Ama and Koryo had been close friends during the days when both girls were students of the Presbyterian Girls Boarding School. This relationship had continued up to the University. It was rare to see one of the girls without the other. Rumours had gone round for years in and around the University community and even a section of the suburb they lived as to whether the two are Lesbians. Maybe the only People who have not heard such altercations were their parents. Greg and Anastasia were the only two people in the world who did not know that ‘Saul is also a Prophet.’ It was tantamount to saying that I saw no evil about myself; I saw no wrong about my family; everything around me was good and yet everything around someone else was lousy. Well those days, it was very rare to meet an LGBTQI+ who was a through and through LGBTQI+. A lot of them were bisexuals, trying to cover up their abnormalities and still winning the acceptance of society by living and or cohabiting with the opposite sex. Ama had succeeded in winning the love of Jobson Martinson. It had not been an easy war with the rivalry of Koryo standing on the way.
Koryo greeted the Donkors. “Good day, daddy and mummy.” Greg was a little bit nervous to respond. Ana-stasia answered. “Good afternoon, my daughter. How are you? Your friend is not at home. She is at school. Why are you walking alone?” In actual fact, these questions were loaded. Koryo was not expecting to see Mrs. Anastasia Donkor at home. Perhaps at worse, she will meet Ama, whom she has not seen at school before leaving. Worst still, if all her plans failed, then she had wanted to meet Greg alone so that she can convinced him to believe that Jobson was evil and his attachment to Ama would lead the latter into ditch. The human mind was at work. If we could use at least ten percent of our brain capacity positively, the world would have been a better place for all humanoids. But we always planned evil to suit our whims and caprices. Now that her initial thoughts have been foiled, she had to think fast on her feet to deploy plan-B in order to save her face.
“I have not seen Ama since yesterday. Her cell phone was not reachable. I just felt she is at home.” Koryo said. Anastasia looked at Koryo stealthily as if to doubt her. She turned one hundred and eighty degrees clockwise towards Ama’s room. “That is Ama’s room. You can relax and wait for her, whilst we try to contact her.” Koryo walked silently and slipped into Ama’s room leaving Greg and Anastasia at the living room.
