'Based on definitions, this thing is definitely alive.'
The message the ship sent Nick was to ask for confirmation about landing.
Nick just gave his confirmation.

The ship had already learned how to land and where to land.
It would do the landing for him.

Almost all of the machines Starbreaker Base had created worked with artificial intelligence.
The operator just needed to tell the AI what they wanted, and the AI would oblige.
Of course, there had been some issues with rebellious AIs in the past, but that was not a problem.

The Ancient Ones also had issues with that, but it was solved rather easily, albeit costly.
It sounded like an incredibly dumb solution, but sometimes, the dumbest solution was the best one.

In more practical terms, the Ancient Ones needed to manually shut down their generators while cutting cables from generators that couldn't be shut down.
When there was no more electricity, the AI couldn't do anything anymore.
Then, the Ancient Ones just cut the connections between different networks, keeping them isolated.
They reactivated one network after the other, eradicating every trace of the rogue AI before activating the next one.
And if that didn't work, they simply destroyed the machines that couldn't be purged.
Luckily, Starbreaker Base didn't need to go through that.
They just directly manipulated the flow of energy.
'This biological ship has the advantages of a local AI but not the disadvantages,' Nick thought. 'It lacks the power to replicate itself.'
'Even if it, for some reason, goes rogue, it will just be a single ship.'
After waiting for a couple more minutes, Nick felt the jolt of the ship being stopped.
Just like earlier, the ship charged right into a network of tentacles, which stopped it.
If this ship had emotions, it would probably be gleeful.

The walls of the ship parted, and the engineer behind Nick stepped out first.
Nick followed the engineer, and for the first time, Nick set foot on the moon.
As Nick looked up, he saw the vast nothingness of space.

Its light was nothing like the light of the Sun humanity had known for the past thousands of years.
The light of the Sun was weak, foreboding, constant…
The light of the actual sun was powerful, radiant, and aggressive.
Nick could feel how the sun tried to damage his new body.
While a normal human wouldn't die immediately, extended exposure to the pure rays of the Sun would cause burns and genetic mutations.
