"This has to be the Trickster's work," the Champion answered. "I'm going to check for myself. You can't underestimate the Trickster."
"Of course," the Tinkerer answered.
Outside, a random Protector was watching the Champion entering Aegis' headquarters again.
Naturally, the random Protector was Nick in disguise.
When he saw the Champion returning, he took to the sky and flew to the east.
Meanwhile, the Champion reached the door to the database, where the Tinkerer was already waiting.
"Everything's fine," the Tinkerer said.
"Just open the door," the Champion said.
Not even the Champion had access to the physical space of the database.
The Tinkerer opened the door.

The Tinkerer's eyes widened as she saw the destroyed remains of the small machine.
She felt like her world ended.

The Champion immediately released his light and covered all of Aegis' headquarters.

However, their research into Pure Energy had been destroyed.
This research was so secret that the other Shields didn't even know about it.
The Tinkerer and the Champion were the only ones who knew about it, and the Tinkerer was the only person who researched the secrets of Pure Energy.
The Champion wanted the information to be so secret since he didn't even want the Sun to find out.
This wasn't because he wasn't loyal to the Sun.
No, this was just something he had made to deal with Nick.
