’He’s surely going to kill me now...’ Midas mused, thinking about how much of a brute Dorian had appeared to be in the past.
’Then again... he’s also weirdly an intellectual.’ He thought about the speech the man gave in his sleep. But even this couldn’t be trusted since Dorian wasn’t even conscious when he said it.
’He’s just too unpredictable.’ Midas stared at his hut, waiting for Dorian’s next words.
"Ugh... I mean, I’ve had worse in the past." Out of nowhere, Dorian sat up and swiped his hand at the goblin.
He grabbed Gool by the head, lifting him into the air.
On hearing Dorian’s words, Gool felt his heart sink into his stomach.
Snot shot out of his nostrils as he screamed:
"Worsf inf thf pasf!? Whaf aref fyour infenfions wifh me!?" Gool desperately screamed, not knowing whether to be scared for his life or his dignity...
Hearing all this from several feet away, Midas stood there completely frozen.
His face was dull, ’This is happening... this is real life.’
Dorian continued speaking, "So this was your plan to get me out of your home, ey, Stars?" He grinned, "I see the type of man you are... and I don’t dislike it!"
He then stared directly into Gool’s eyes and paused for a long time. His face was completely serious during this moment of silence.
"Unfortunately for you, Stars..." Dorian finally said before pausing again and sizing the goblin up with his eyes.
He looked Gool up and down, sending shivers up the goblin’s back.
’He’s assaulting me with his eyes... this monster... If I escape this, I swear I will kill him!’ Gool thought to himself, enraged, petrified, and despairing all at the same time.
Just as Gool finished his thought, Dorian slightly chuckled.
Of course, Gool had no clue Dorian could hear his thoughts. The man continued his sentence: "It seems this one is a male. I don’t swing that way. Anyway, your plan failed due to this minor lapse in your judgment. What a shame."
He seemingly oogled the goblin up and down one more time before dropping him.
Gool immediately hopped away, his face drowning in tears.
’I’m a survivor!’ He cried inwardly as he jumped out of the hut.
However, he was stopped right at the exit.
Midas stood in the center of the doorway, looking down at Gool.
Seconds later, Gool found himself tied up to a tree.
"Are you sure you can’t alert others!?" Midas said in a raised tone, currently in somewhat of an argument.
"Yes! Just trust me! I know I have many reasons to lie right now... but you’ve already stripped me naked and taken everything I have except for my dignity! Even that is now shaky..." Gool glanced at the hut with fear flashing over his pupils.
He whimpered, looking back at Midas, "Clearly, I don’t have any items on me that can alert others. I alone cannot do anything like that. I know you may not be familiar with goblins, not being from this world and all, since you are a player, but surely you can recognize how weak I am! My entire species is regarded as being one of the starter mobs humans try to hunt!"
That final statement spiked Midas’ intrigue instantly. His eyes widened, his eyebrows furrowing intensely.
"What did you say? A player from another world? So you know that I am a player?" Midas spat these questions out without even thinking, his curiosity getting the better of him.
Upon actually thinking about it, he guessed it made sense.
’That must be why he said that he and his partner were just capturing me, and not trying to kill me. I guess those of this planet, Fell-Terra, are also participating. Their world is at stake... they will all probably already be informed of this game, just like I am. But does that mean each beast has its own system? Or maybe a unique power? Surely I wasn’t the only one granted a special ability... no... even if it’s just the players, all of them must have been given an advantage for this game. Especially if they are normal humans just like me...’
"Hahaha!" An abrupt laugh sounded from the hut.
Midas turned, noticing Dorian walk out of the hut as he blocked his eyes from the sunrays that pierced through the canopy.
"So he wasn’t a... well, anyways," Dorian muttered, arriving before Midas and Gool.
His presence was imposing.
To the goblin, he was like a giant. Midas wasn’t a close rival either, however, only reaching about 5’10 ft (155cm) in terms of stature.
On Earth, he was the same height. He also had the exact same age, so it seemed his body was the same as the one on Earth.
Even though months felt like they passed between him being on earth and appearing on the island, he hadn’t grown a beard or anything.
The transportation seemed to have been... instant.
He was 23 years old. His hair was long and flowing, reaching to his shoulders. It was almost enough to cover parts of his forehead, getting into his eyes every now and again like little pests.
His eyes were a crimson red, differentiating him from most people. That was, in fact, the only differing fact that he had back on earth from most people.
Well, in terms of looks at least.
"The goblin won’t do anything." Dorian said, "You will trust me." He looked at Midas with steely eyes as he said this.
Midas literally had no choice but to agree, nodding his head.
He untied Gool’s hand and wrists, but still held his torso tied to the tree so he couldn’t escape.
He had also already ungagged the goblin before tying him to the tree in order to let him speak freely during the interrogation.
Somewhere along the way, however, Gool’s incessant pleas for getting his hands and feet untied switched the conversation.
"Tell me, Gool," Dorian walked past Midas and stood before the goblin who was sitting against the tree. "What do you mean when you say... player?"
