Li Dazhi responded with a cupped-fist salute, his eyes creased in mirth.
Then, recalling something, he said with a chuckle:
“Today, Ping’an has taken on a renowned master through his own destiny and chance; it is only fitting that he himself should invite you seniors to thank you for your kindness.
I shall not presume to decide for him.”
An elderly External Sect elder with a dragon-like appearance reminded him, “Uncle Dazhi, Ping’an is about to change his register and join the inner gate.
Wouldn’t you attend the ceremony?”
“Certainly, certainly!”
Li Dazhi laughed and gave a cupped-fist salute to the surrounding Immortals:
“Fellow daoists, there’s no need to join this fuss.
It’s just a little disciple taking a master, not a major event in our sect.
My Ping’an is rather shy, and I’m concerned he might feel embarrassed with too many people around.”
One of the Immortals said, “If that’s the case, we will come to offer congratulations later!”
“Many thanks to all the daoists for your understanding!”
Seeing the group of Immortals from the inner gate disperse, Li Dazhi took the opportunity to hook arms with the familiar External Sect elder and together they rode the clouds back to the main peak.
Li Dazhi sent a telepathic inquiry: “Does Ping’an need to prepare some gifts for his apprenticeship?”
“Well, it’s fine to prepare them, but it’s also not a big deal if he doesn’t.
The inner gate doesn’t pay much attention to such formalities.”
“Who would have thought, Ping’an would become the apprentice of Qing Su.
Fate truly is marvelous; it was Ping’an who saved Qing Su before.”
Li Dazhi pondered for a moment before asking, “What kind of Immortal is this Qing Su exactly?
What is her character like?”
This question put the elder in a difficult position, and he stroked his beard in deep thought for a while before finally saying:

“Qing Su is a member of the Master of Caiyun Peak lineage.

Li Dazhi’s face lit up with a smile.
That was great; Ping’an would receive the full attention of his master.
And if this Heavenly Immortal took more disciples in the future, Ping’an would be the senior apprentice brother.
Up ahead on the clouds, a group of female cultivators from Caiyun Peak was hurrying to the Mundane Affairs Hall to attend the ceremony.
Ningning Mu called out while waving her hand, and Li Dazhi nodded in response with a smile.
Li Dazhi could see that this young girl was quite excited, clearly because Ping’an had taken on a renowned master.
‘Ningning is really a good child; I should prepare a generous dowry for her.’
Several white clouds arrived at the Mundane Affairs Hall at the same time.
Before entering the hall, Li Dazhi used his immortal sense to search for his son’s whereabouts.
Qing Su and Li Ping’an stood in a corner while an elderly Immortal feverishly inscribed Li Ping’an’s name into the register of Inner Sect Disciples.
Upon deeper reflection, Li Dazhi also found the matter of Li Ping’an taking a master to be quite interesting.
In the history of Caiyun Peak, there have been very few male disciples; in future sect assemblies, Li Ping’an would stand out among the blossoms, a solitary streak of vigor, the sole male essence.
Li Ping’an first replaced his disciple’s register at the Mundane Affairs Hall and received his Jade Talisman of discipleship; then he went to the Nourishing Clouds Hall, where he placed the Jade Talisman on one of the large racks exclusive to Caiyun Peak.
This signified his induction into the lineage of Caiyun Peak.
Li Ping’an alone managed all these preliminary steps.
He intended to let his master rest and enjoy some tea, but Qing Su, without uttering a word, followed him throughout.
It seemed she was worried that the other Immortals of the sect might give Li Ping’an a hard time.
The final step was to present the tea to his master, which took place in the Nourishing Clouds Hall.
Qing Su sat erect in front of the massive “cloud” character, graceful and composed, calm and detached.
Under the gaze of his father, Li Dazhi, dozens of Caiyun Peak disciples, and hundreds of unrelated, merrymaking Immortals, Li Ping’an knelt on the cushion, respectfully raising the cup of tea above his head.
Qing Su took a sip of the tea and softly commanded, “Disciple, stand up.”
Li Ping’an backed away to stand, bowing deeply once more.
An elder by the side brought over a tray containing three Jade Talismans; one was the outline for the front half of Wanyun Sect’s core technique “Wanyun Jue,” one was the rules for Inner Sect Disciples, and one was Li Ping’an’s identity Jade Talisman.
Absent Immortals from Colorful Cloud Peak telepathically informed Qing Su of what she should do next.
Qing Su took Li Ping’an’s identity Jade Talisman into her hand, and with her right index finger, she wrote “Qing Su” upon it.
The characters were upright and simple, without any affectation.
Afterward, Qing Su took the tray over to Li Ping’an and placed it in his hands.
