But by giving you this power first, because you are the one who deserves it, you will be able to curb the rebellion and restore order to the planet and rule it forever with your wisdom and composure." Athenos laughed loudly after taking a sip from one of the cups. "Yes, immortality, the dream of all creatures in the universe. And I will be the lucky one who will get it thanks to the hidden power of the crystal. I will become the invincible ruler. And together, we will achieve all our dreams and hopes. But who would have thought that such a power existed in this vast universe, and by a strange irony of fate, it is on my planet."
Without hearing another word, Gaia walked away from the door, feeling a volcano erupting inside him, and he felt he was about to explode with anger. He crossed the beautiful corridor, then stopped at one of the paintings. He looked in all directions to make sure no one saw him, then moved the painting slightly to the right, and a secret door opened. Gaia looked around one last time to confirm his position, then picked up two glowing cubes and left them in the air. They hovered beside him and began to follow him, illuminating the dark place. He set off into the empty corridor in front of him, while the secret door closed behind him. Gaia reached the end of the corridor, turned right, and began to walk down another corridor until he finished it, then turned right. He found an iron door that looked old. He pressed an electronic panel next to it, then placed his hand on it. The panel scanned his hand, then the door began to creak loudly until it opened wide. Gaia continued on his way while the door closed behind him, and darkness fell.
He found himself in a large, dark room that resembled a large temple. There were strange carvings on the wall everywhere of birds, mythical creatures, and many symbols.
Gaia began to scan the place with his eyes, but he knew his way well. He walked forward in the dark while the light of the two cubes helped him to see well. He reached a glass box inside which was a small golden crown with a small red jewel in the center and small blue jewels around it. He pressed some buttons on a panel below the glass box, and the box rose up until the crown was now within his reach. He extended his hand to hold it, saying, "I’m sorry, Father, but it seems your greatest fears have come true."
Gaia placed the small, jewel-encrusted golden crown on his head and went to the right to find a table decorated with many ornaments, and on it was a book inside a glass case. Its features were not clear because of the darkness, but Gaia knew at once what it was. He found some other books and manuscripts next to it. He opened the glass panel and gently held the book in his hands. He felt a great power coming from it, which made him contemplate it for a few minutes. Then he picked up the other manuscripts and books and headed out of the room.
The footage shifted to show Gaia’s elderly father on his bed, overcome by illness, his face showing gray hair and fatigue. His hair was long and silver like Gaia’s, and he had a long, soft silver beard that rested on his chest, and many wrinkles on his blue face. Gaia was standing next to him, holding his hand. His father said, catching his breath with difficulty, "My son, the people have elected your older brother, thinking that he has the same wisdom and justice that I possess, so they handed him the reins of power with their consent. Now, the mission of the rest of the family is to guide him and control his actions and decisions to guide him to the right path if he makes a mistake. This is for the public good. And you know that your brother is not worthy of ruling. That is why you must watch him and guide him well. But if things get out of your control, and for the good of everyone, then you must depose your brother and take power yourself."
Gaia said in a questioning tone, surprised and shocked by his father’s words, "And how should I depose him when he has the power and strength, and I have nothing to do?"
The old man began to cough violently. After he calmed down, he said, "There is a secret hidden in the palace that will give you a power you cannot imagine. And because you, my son, are worthy of this, I will tell you this secret. But promise me that you will not use this power except in critical times."
Gaia said, sadness evident on his face, "I promise you, Father, that I will not use it except in times that require the use of such a power."
The old father sighed with relief. "You know that we created the machines thousands of years ago to make life easier for us and to move us to a better and easier life, because they have the ability to do things we cannot do, and to make things that are difficult for us to make. And so the machines were a great blessing to us. You see them around you clearly now. If it weren’t for them, we would not have reached where we are now. But you also know that machines are made to execute orders only, without objecting to anything. They do not have the consciousness and perception that distinguish organic beings like us."
Gaia said, nodding his head, "Of course, I know all this. I have studied the history of our civilization well and know everything in it. But what does this have to in with the secret you want to tell me?"
