Luo Xiaolei was pressing her lips tightly as she stared at the man on the bed.
He was perfectly still like stone and his eyeballs weren't moving at all. There was no sign that he was pretending to be asleep, even though of course, she knew he was not sleeping. He was also breathing steadily and his oh so perfect face was just as alluring as ever.
Staring at him, Luo Xiaolei couldn't help but face palm herself. She couldn't believe that this man of all people would act like this. She thought that she was used to this big panda unknowingly acting all adorable and innocent but what he did this time was on a whole new level. How could she even scold him when he was effortlessly turning her bones soft just like that? He was not only using his cuteness and innocence as a weapon to attack her but also using it as a shield against her now?!
'This man…'
Heaving a deep sigh, Luo Xiaolei sat on the edge of his bed. She couldn't help but laugh at herself. This man was the only one who was capable of making her voluntarily raise her white flag. It seemed like there was really no way around it; she simply couldn't resist him in anything and she couldn't figure out a reasonable reason why.
Time passed and the man didn't open his eyes again but Luo Xiaolei could just tell that he was still awake. Well, he wasn't acting that he was asleep in the first place. He was simply laying there, eyes closed, like he was a breathing perfect statue.
"You're not allowed to sleep just yet. You need to eat dinner first." Luo Xiaolei finally broke the silence.
When the man still didn't open his eyes, Luo Xiaolei sighed. "I'm not upset anymore." She said and as expected the man reacted and he slowly opened his eyes. He looked up from under his beautiful black lashes, and stared at Luo Xiaolei's face as if he was trying to confirm if she was indeed not upset anymore.
His reaction once again rendered Luo Xiaolei speechless. She was really starting to think that this panda's actions were actually something scripted. But there's no way, right? Would a grown up man, especially a great tycoon like him will ever choose to act like an adorable little bun like this just because someone was upset with him?!
'Absolutely not. The only reason why this panda was like this was because he was a pure innocent maiden who was not tainted by this world's impurities.'
Yu Chen quietly helped himself sit up.
They stared at each other and the silence dragged on once again.
As she looked at him, Luo Xiaolei decided to at least give him a little lecture. She was no longer upset but she didn't want to just ignore what he did. She didn't want him to do this again.
"Yu Chen, I may not be in the position to… no, I'm your fiancée so I have the right to stick my nose in this..." Luo Xiaolei started. Her voice was calm but the look in her eyes had become somewhat intense. "I understand why you insist on working despite being in this state but please don't neglect your body. You're still unwell. You won't heal if you overwork yourself like that. Do you not want to recover? Do you not want to go home? Ranran and Rui have been asking for you, you know? They said they missed you! You keep on telling me not to worry about you but how could I not when you're treating your body like this? You might not care about your body but I care! You know why? Because your body is mine, understand?!"
When Luo Xiaolei's voice died down, silence reigned again.
She didn't plan to say that last sentence and she couldn't believe she actually said it. But she didn't care anymore. She just wanted this man to take his health seriously.
Luo Xiaolei still had more to say but she restrained herself. It was because for some reason, as she stared at Yu Chen's eyes, she saw an overflowing emotion she couldn't comprehend.
And then, abruptly, the man suddenly rested his head against the crook of her neck. Luo Xiaolei was caught off guard and she froze for a moment.
"I'm sorry. I won't do it again." His voice burned with regret but at this moment, that was no longer the major issue. Because his lips were actually lightly brushing against her skin as he spoke, sending shivers under her skin. Did he do that on purpose?!!
Luo Xiaolei felt like her blood was racing and she was sure that he could hear the thudding of her pulse and the hammering beating of her heart. And the strangest thing was that, she couldn't think of anything right now, except that Yu Chen's lips were still grazing against her skin and his hot breath were like electricity stunning her.
They stayed like that for an immeasurable amount of time until eventually, Luo Xiaolei calmed down and her brain managed to somewhat unscramble itself.
Luo Xiaolei then held the man's face and made him look at her. "Y-you have to promise me." She said and Yu Chen gazed at her for three long seconds before he finally nodded.
"Mm. Promise."
As soon as she heard him, Luo Xiaolei was instantly relieved. A sweet smile then carved on her face as her hand landed on Yu Chen's head.
"Good." She said as she gently caressed his hair.
Yu Chen immediately fell in a daze as he watched the girl's smiling face. His gaze then focused on her lips. Subconsciously, Yu Chen lifted his hand but before it could reach her nape, Luo Xiaolei's phone suddenly vibrated.
The girl moved and brought out her phone. When she saw the caller, her smiled faded and he stood.
"I'll go receive this call." She said and walked towards the door, leaving Yu Chen quietly staring at her back.
When Luo Xiaolei returned, their dinner was already ready. The two then ate together. Luo Xiaolei fed the big panda with lots of vegetables and the poor thing couldn't even say no.
Their dinner of course was extra sweet and Yu Chen ate a lot. However, even though Luo Xiaolei was acting normally, Yu Chen noticed the subtle change in her expression since she received that call. In one glance, he could just tell that there was something troubling her.
"Were Ranran and Rui the ones who called?" Yu Chen finally asked. Of course, he knew that the caller was obviously not the little buns.
Luo Xiaolei immediately shook her head and for some reason, she suddenly dropped her eyes to her silverware.
"No, it's not them." She answered, not looking at him. Yu Chen didn't ask anymore but Luo Xiaolei could feel his gaze not leaving her. She could somehow tell that Yu Chen must have already noticed something like he always did. When she raised her head, she was right. The man was looking at her, seemingly waiting for her to speak.
Luo Xiaolei pressed her lips tight but after a moment, she took a deep breath before her gaze at him turned serious.
"Uhm… Yu Chen, I have something to discuss with you."
