“You might imagine, if all the elements in this universe were to come to a halt now, would time still have any meaning? Everything would be frozen in place, unable to move, let alone possess the capacity to think…”
Thus, the so-called four-dimensional spacetime universe could also be interpreted as a moving three-dimensional spatial universe!
“Since time is the abstract manifestation of the continuous motion of matter, naturally, the trajectory of motion can indeed be distorted!” Lynn looked at the gathered Wizards and spoke seriously.
“Based on the equations of mass and gravity, combined with the relativity formula of velocity equivalent to mass, the moment an object reaches the speed of light, its time has already halted. This is why I dare say that the speed of light cannot be surpassed!”
Lynn’s voice was not loud, but as it reached each Wizard’s ears, it resonated like a giant bell, stunning their minds.
“Your theory of relativity might just topple and rebuild the entire magic system,” Harrov sighed.
Harrov was incredibly incredulous when he first received the manuscript, and now he was deeply shocked.
Though these theories sounded more counterintuitive than the next, as Lynn had just said, their pursuit of magic science was to explain the laws governing things; a theory, no matter how bizarre, strange, or illogical, as long as it could accurately explain natural phenomena, was undoubtedly the truth!
Steg and the others were also speechless in astonishment, wanting to object, but having to admit that relativity not only achieved a strange logical consistency but also had the evidence of light deviation experiments and quartz clock gravitational experiments.
Once it was confirmed that relativity was correct, then concepts of space, time, speed, and mass would all need to be redefined from now on!
Seeing that the Wizards present had all lowered their flags and started pondering over the issues of spacetime and the movement of matter, Lynn turned his head to look at Jeffrey, curiously asking, “Master Jeffrey, I heard you encountered some minor troubles while improving the double-slit interference experiment?”
“This is hardly a minor trouble!” Jeffrey grimaced and said, “I suspect we’ve encountered an Elemental Ghost…”
Alade thoroughly explained all the eerie phenomena they encountered in the experiment.
“Photons and electrons can even anticipate in advance our intention to observe them, no matter how much we disguise it, no matter what methods we think of, we can’t alter this situation,” Alade’s face showed a touch of fear.
“Isn’t that quite normal?” Lynn said in surprise.
Alade paused, then almost jumped up, how was this normal at all?
“Have you forgotten? Time has no meaning for light, since it has reached its ultimate speed, relative to you, time is in a state of rest! This means that for light itself, it arrives instantaneously at any place…” Lynn said with a smile.
Because time is halted, it must invariably know at the moment of emission whether it will be observed, thus determining whether to collapse.
So there’s no such thing as precognition, it’s all very magical!
Alade stood dumbfounded, although Lynn had previously explained the principle of time nearly stopping due to the maximum speed of light, he always felt that things had become even more bizarre.
If light had already traversed the entire course instantaneously, then what was the moving light beam they saw?
Wasn’t that a reversal of cause and effect?
Thinking of Lynn’s mention that time was meaningless, Alade suddenly fell into confusion.
Jeffrey continued to inquire, “What about electrons? Their speed is far slower than that of light, so time can’t be at a standstill, can it?”
Lynn raised an eyebrow, pondering, “If time has no meaning for light, then for electrons, spatial distance is also meaningless!”
“As for why, you will have to figure that out yourself!” Lynn patted Jeffrey on the shoulder, encouragingly, with no intention of revealing the mystery.
In fact, he himself had only grasped a trace of the truth and could not be one hundred percent certain.
A free electron’s probability cloud could cover the entire universe, theoretically reaching any place instantaneously, it’s just a matter of probability.
The reason electrons within elements can’t do this is because they are tightly bound by the nucleus; but when they’re free, this means their probability cloud’s range becomes extremely large, certainly much larger than Jeffrey’s lab.
The probability cloud of a free electron is also one of the few entities that can surpass the speed of light, simply because the maximum limit of light speed only applies within four-dimensional space; if affected by higher dimensions, it’s not necessarily the case.
One example is under the gravitational influence of massive celestial bodies, where the speed of light significantly reduces.
The reason is that light is forced to detour, no longer propagating in the straight line they see!
It’s like an ant that can’t simply walk straight to the other side of a hill; it must first climb the slope.
Although the ant’s speed is consistent throughout, to a two-dimensional observer, it appears to cross that distance at an extremely slow pace.
Time is meaningless for light, and spatial distance is meaningless for electrons… These words orbited in Jeffrey’s mind, lingering for a long time, as he vaguely grasped a thread but still did not understand why.
“This is some of the experimental manuscripts I’ve summed up from studying relativity, feel free to read it if you’re interested!” Lynn took out the second half of the relativity manuscript and handed it to Steg and the others.
Lynn sincerely hoped they would come to understand and overcome their fear of the microcosm soon.
That way, the council’s legendary production plan could be implemented.
About half an hour later, Jeffrey and others, who had printed dozens of copies of the relativity original manuscript using magic, walked out of the manor.
When they arrived, each one was full of confidence, ready to refute what they called absurd conjectures, but they left with furrowed brows, deeply engrossed in thoughts about space-time and the conversion of mass and speed.
Lynn did not see them off because Dennis suddenly reported good news that the first-generation supersonic fighter jet had been officially completed and was ready for its first test flight tomorrow!
“No wonder you’ve had the rare chance to come and debate with me,” Lynn realized; Dennis had been very busy before, not even having time to attend academic seminars.
As for the new fighter’s test pilot, it was naturally the experienced Lydia!
(PS: The toughest part about relativity is finally written. I’ve tried to make it simple, and from now on, most of the theory will be science fiction focusing on the plot, hence it won’t be such extensive discourse.
