After all, there are quite a few similarities between the two, and perhaps, as with their casting of Force Field Magic, space is the medium for electromagnetic waves.
Vittorio nodded, also finding the wave theory more plausible.
However, Aurora disagreed, saying, “We can’t come to conclusions so easily; there are still many properties of light that are up for debate.”
Clearly, she supported the particle theory of light.
After several council members had stated their positions, all eyes in the room turned to Lynn.
As the proposer of the laws of free fall, universal gravitation, and the elemental orbit model, this star of magic was undoubtedly authoritative in magical research!
Under the gaze of tens of thousands of eyes, Lynn turned to Anthony and spoke slowly, “Your research is very accurate, light is indeed an electromagnetic wave!”
With those words, the faces of the wizards who believed in the wave theory of light beamed with pride, as it seemed that Councilor Lynn was also in support of their wave theory.
Sanchez and Alade, among others, had their expressions turn sour. With Councilors Harrov, Vittorio, and Lynn endorsing the wave theory, it was feared that after this seminar, the particle theory would be discarded to the trash heap.
“This is precisely derived from your Maxwell’s equations!” A slight smile appeared on Anthony’s face.
Jeffrey was not at all surprised, as he had read the reply letter from Lynn to Anthony before and was clear about the stance of this star of magic.
However, unexpectedly to both of them, after speaking, Lynn suddenly turned to Sanchez and commended him, saying,
“Your point is also very good; indeed, light does have some particle characteristics, and the conjecture that electromagnetic waves are particles is very bold…”
Sanchez, who had been sighing, suddenly lifted his head, looking incredulously at this star of magic.
The smile on Anthony’s face froze, somewhat unable to understand why Councilor Lynn suddenly voiced agreement with Sanchez’s viewpoint.
Could it be that the other party thought the wave theory had some loopholes and intended to delay for a period before concluding?
Harrov also thought of this, raising his voice a little, reminding, “Councilor Lynn, the ‘Casting Barrier’ is spreading across the kingdom; it’s best if we reach a consensus on the Essence of Light during this seminar!”
“No, I think you’ve misunderstood me, Councilor Harrov,” Lynn shook his head, looking around at the assembly of wizards in the hall, and proceeded to speak with a smile.
“What I am saying is, is there a possibility that light is both a particle and a wave?”
Lynn’s voice was not loud, yet it accurately reached every person present. However, everyone who heard this wondered if they had heard wrong.

“Please forgive my impertinence, but could you explain what you mean by that?” Jeffrey frowned, speaking with utter confusion.
“Is it like a rope, which appears continuous on the surface but is actually made up of individual elements?” Alade suggested with a burst of imagination.
Sanchez nodded; this seemed reasonable and perfectly corresponded to this star of magic’s just-mentioned statement, as well as his theory of photoelectronic bursts.
Most importantly, this implied that the particle theory was the real core, with waves being formed by a large number of dispersed particles.
However, Lynn gently negated Alade’s imaginative idea. “What I mean is that light has both the characteristics of particles and waves, just as we saw in the experiment earlier.”
“Both a particle and a wave? That’s impossible, and it defies common sense!” Jeffrey couldn’t help but interject.
Some wizards from the empire were greatly disappointed with this highly reputed star of magic. When it was Lynn’s turn to speak, they had all been expecting him to present some astonishing argument to end this months-long debate between wave and particle.
The result now seems to be surprisingly amazing, but its arguments are simply illogical, described best as bizarre!
Waves are waves, particles are particles; their forms of existence are utterly different.
For instance, they could release a high-frequency shockwave that could split a wall in half, while a high-speed hitting particle could only create a big hole in the wall.
Similarly, a wave can pass through several slits at once, even splitting into more microwaves, but could a particle do that?
Lynn was not angered by the crowd’s skepticism, but he slightly raised his volume, damping down the murmurs of the crowd. “Master Jeffrey, what do you consider to be common sense?”
“Common sense is naturally that which conforms to logic and to the knowledge accepted by us all…” Jeffrey furrowed his brows.
“Exactly, it’s nothing more than the experience summarized from our past knowledge,” Lynn nodded, then continued. “But this isn’t necessarily correct!”
“For instance, before we measured the circumference of planets and used pendulums to prove the theory of spherical planets, everyone thought the land under our feet was a flat continent, didn’t they?”
Jeffrey was suddenly at a loss for words, let alone a few years ago, to this day, many people still do not believe that the land beneath their feet is a globe because it completely exceeds their understanding!
Alade retorted from the side. “But this time it’s different, your theory is not just counter to common sense, it’s even… even illogical!”
“This is the crux of the issue!” Lynn nodded, surprisingly agreeing with Alade’s words, yet the next moment he spoke again. “Because the micro world cannot be proven with common sense!”
“Recently, I have been studying these microscopic particle phenomena and have discovered some patterns.”
“According to my research, not only light but also electrons, protons, and other microscopic elements exhibit similar wave phenomena… I’ve given them a new name, called ‘quanta’!”
“Yes, you can understand them as particles that have wave-like characteristics!” Lynn stated emphatically.
The wizards present, including Chancellors like Harrov, all wore expressions of disbelief.
“Could we take a look at your research manuscripts?” Anthony asked eagerly, confident that Lynn would never talk nonsense, especially not in such an important assembly to ruin his reputation.
But this theory was just too incredible, he needed to see more rigorous experimental proof, not just speeches.
“No problem!” Lynn agreed without hesitation, then with a flick of his finger, the neatly stacked pages on the desk flew out one by one, landing in the hands of every wizard in the exhibition hall.
Anthony also received a copy, initially thinking it was the research manuscript, but after skimming it, he was surprised to find it was not as he was expecting.
“What is this? A disclaimer?!” Aurora asked with a hint of surprise as she looked at Lynn.
“I’m somewhat concerned that revealing these microscopic phenomena could lead to consequences more severe than a ‘Casting Barrier,’ hence the disclaimer. You may choose to listen to my quantum theory,” Lynn said succinctly.
Is it really that exaggerated?
Harrov’s face involuntarily twitched, the consequences were more terrible than a ‘Casting Barrier’?
The wizards present buzzed with speculation; some felt this magic star was posturing, performing tricks, while others were uneasy. The previous debates about the Essence of Light had already caused many to lose their ability to perform light-based magic.
“Anyway, I’ll first demonstrate with experiments the wave and particle nature of quanta at tomorrow’s academic symposium… Those willing to attend may sign their name on the disclaimer!” Lynn shrugged his shoulders, then declared the end of today’s academic seminar, and no longer paying attention to the still confused wizards, left the venue.
His experimental apparatus was missing one last piece of the puzzle: how to emit a single photon or electron and make it travel in a specific direction, which was the biggest challenge in the experiment, an especially crucial part!
