Pei Yuanchen looked at her big, bright eyes, feeling a surge of fire in his heart.
He wasn’t sure if it was anger or some other kind of fire.
He gruffly said, “Let’s go!”
After speaking, he threw the backpack at her.
He Ziyi reached out to catch it, but ended up stumbling slightly. A servant accompanying her immediately reached out, “Miss, let me take it.”
Upon hearing this, He Ziyi quickly turned her head and sneered, “He Ziyi, you came to pick me up, right?”
“That’s right,” Ziyi nodded.
“Then it’s your duty to carry my bag, don’t give it to anyone else!” he said fiercely.
He Ziyi nodded blankly, “Oh.” After saying that, she obediently slung the backpack over her shoulder.
Her frame was slender, and Pei Yuanchen’s backpack was quite large, making her look comically like a child trying to wear adult clothes.
Pei Yuanchen’s lips curved slightly, finally feeling a relief from his frustration.
Back at the car, Pei Yuanchen got in first.
He Ziyi followed, bending down to get in, and took the backpack off, placing it on her lap with a long sigh.
Pei Yuanchen snorted, “He Ziyi, you really need to work out; you’re too weak right now.”
“But I’m in pretty good shape,” Ziyi retorted unhappily.
“With such little stamina? What are you going to do in the future?” Pei Yuanchen’s eyes darkened, his tone carrying a hint of suggestion.
However, He Ziyi could not understand his hint.
“Uncle Xiaobao, are you saying that I need to carry your backpack every day in the future?” she asked, puzzled.
Pei Yuanchen chuckled maliciously, “You don’t want to?”
“It’s not that I don’t want to, but your backpack is too heavy…” He Ziyi said, pulling open the backpack’s zipper, “What did you pack in here? Useless things shouldn’t be carried around.”
Pei Yuanchen’s face darkened, “Don’t rummage through my stuff!”
“I’m just looking,” she said, digging through it. She found some weird electronic devices she couldn’t recognize.
Pei Yuanchen watched coldly, with a mocking smile on his lips, “All these things are quite useful.”
He Ziyi said nothing, continuing her serious search, when suddenly she found a box that seemed familiar to Pei Yuanchen.
His expression changed slightly.
He Ziyi had already opened the box and took out a square-shaped plastic bag, her face puzzled, “What’s this?”
Pei Yuanchen looked at her deeply, his voice roughened, “It’s a life preserver.”
He Ziyi was shocked, “What’s it for?”
“When necessary, it can prevent fatalities,” Pei Yuanchen said earnestly.
“So, this thing is really useful then.” Ziyi counted, “Wow, Uncle Xiaobao, you have six here. Can you give me one?”
Pei Yuanchen’s lips twitched slightly as he looked deeply at her, “What do you need it for?”
“You said that in a critical moment it can prevent fatalities,” Ziyi said, studying the item in her hand, “Is it an antidote? Give me one.”
“No way, you won’t need it,” Pei Yuanchen refused.
“Why not?” He Ziyi was baffled, “You have six of them, what’s wrong with giving me one, Uncle Xiaobao, you’re so stingy.”
Pei Yuanchen coldly snatched the deadly thing from her grasp, “You won’t need it; it’s for my second brother.”
“Second brother?” He Ziyi looked even more puzzled, “Who is your second brother? Is he your younger brother? I’ve never heard sister-in-law mention him.”
