HP: Alchemy? Nah, It's Crafting Chapter 172

Back in his office, Kasenhis first headed to the section he'd set aside for planting. He found the sapling he'd buried earlier and immediately hit it with a Growth spell to accelerate its development. In practically an instant, the twig-thin sapling grew into a fully matured tree—not much thicker than a willow branch, but still recognizably square, of course. He transplanted the tree several times until it became a small grove. Once that was done, Kasenhis stopped paying attention to it. After all, for the moment, his Arcane Art magic didn't require any other materials. And for normal materials that weren't too bizarre or cursed, he could still use the Thaumcraft-style infusion altar to easily replicate them. Right now, his Arcane Art studies had pretty much settled into a stable groove. The only issue was that if he wanted to upgrade his magic book to the highest tier, he'd need to go through one more synthesis. Emeralds, Ender Pearls, and Nether Stars? Those were easy—practically lying around for him. But the Totem of Undying and something called the Offering of the Wild? Those were the real headache. He currently had one Totem of Undying—he'd gotten it when he ascended to the heavens last time, gifted by an angel—The future wise Kasenhis. But still, it was a life-saving item. Whether it was saving his life or someone else's, using it to craft a book felt like a massive waste. As for the Offering of the Wild, it was a boss drop—like how the Wither dropped the Nether Star. The boss in question? All he needed to do was find a place to spawn the Wild Chimera, and it'd be no big deal—simple enough. But once he actually flipped open the manual to check how to summon the Wild Chimera… his grin vanished instantly. "What the hell is… Irritating Supreme Wood?" Kasenhis stared at the list of required components for crafting the Wilderness Summoning Altar. One of them was this so-called Irritating Supreme Wood. And of course, that wasn't all. The recipe also called for other materials like Wilderness Antler, Wilderness Wing Membrane, and Wilderness Spike—items even more absurd than the wood. At least Supreme Wood could be found in nature. These three? Pure drops. Straight-up monster loot. The only silver lining was that to craft the summoning altar, he didn't need all three of those items—any one of them would do. That, so far, was the only piece of good news. "Well, this is a pain in the ass," Kasenhis muttered, casually summoning a chalkboard from the corner and picking up a piece of chalk to jot things down. [Irritating Supreme Wood] But soon enough, he erased the Totem of Undying. Because he had just thought of a way to make one. Just like last term, when he crafted those anti-dark-magic portal glasses for the little wizards—the kind that needed to be duplicated into a main body and a clone. Back then, he'd gotten another professor to help him cast the duplication charm. But this time? That wouldn't work. Not for this. Synthesis required absolute authenticity. Magical knockoffs wouldn't cut it. And while vanilla Minecraft didn't have this kind of magic, there were still plenty of traits that could be exploited to duplicate items. The difference was that magic-based duplication only produced empty shells—completely useless. They couldn't be used for crafting, only as expendable junk. But if you duplicated an item using traits, even though the result couldn't be used as a functioning item, it was—technically—identical to the original in every way. Meaning: it couldn't be used directly, but it could be used in crafting. "I really am a genius!" Kasenhis exclaimed, quickly pulling out a full set of blocks and rapidly assembling a Version Suppressor. Within the suppressor's radiation zone, he built a Shadow Item Duplication Device. He placed the Totem of Undying inside, and sure enough—two identical copies popped out. One landed in his hand. The other, in a chest nearby. But now a new problem appeared: these shadow-duplicated items couldn't be touched by hand. "...Ah!" Just as Kasenhis was wracking his brain, another lightbulb popped up above his head. "Who would've thought that the 'take-off-your-pants-to-fart' glyphs would actually come in handy?" he said, remembering those Level 1 glyphs he used to mock—claiming they were all as useless as farting after undressing. And yet, today? One of them had finally proven useful. For example, the Pickup Glyph. If the shadow copy couldn't be touched by hand, why not just grab it with magic? When he said he'd do it—he meant it. Kasenhis sprinted over to the Glyph Imprinting Machine and, using magic clay and a hopper, pressed out a Pickup Glyph. Then, using its magical effect, he reached into the chest and magically retrieved the shadow-duplicated Totem of Undying. Updates are released by 𝔫𝔬𝔳𝔢𝔩~𝕗𝕚𝕣𝕖~𝙣𝙚𝙩 "I really am a damn genius!" Kasenhis praised himself sincerely once again, then placed the duplicated totem back into the chest. All he needed was confirmation that the totem could be retrieved using the Pickup Glyph. He didn't have to carry it around like some magical fart accessory. In fact, storing it in a chest was the safest option. Now that part one of upgrading his magic book was complete—one-third of the way done—it was time to find some Irritating Supreme Wood, locate the rest of the Wilderness monsters, and summon the Wild Chimera to absolutely obliterate it. After that, he'd finally be able to upgrade his spellbook to its highest tier. Having finished this glorious plan in his head, Kasenhis left his office in a great mood and headed toward the headmaster's office. He planned to ask Dumbledore where Gellert Grindelwald had gone. After all, searching for a very specific plant across the entire planet was way too abstract. Better to ask someone who was an actual master of prophecy. And so, all sparkly and bright-eyed, he found himself in Dumbledore's office—face to face with Grindelwald. "Uh, I was hoping you could help me divine the location of a certain kind of tree," Kasenhis said, pulling Grindelwald aside under Dumbledore's rather peculiar gaze. Grindelwald could only sigh in helpless resignation. "I'm a seer—some call me a prophet—but I'm not a god. I can't see a future I haven't been part of." "Kasenhis… I think you may have misunderstood what prophecy actually is. Prophecy means I can see my future. The reason I was able to so accurately predict you'd find those two plants last time was because I went with you. And we got lucky—we both found what we needed. That's why I saw a prophecy about us finding the right plants in those two places." "Then come with me again," Kasenhis said cheerfully, completely abandoning poor Lupin and immediately switching to his new and improved functional adventuring partner: Gellert Grindelwald. "…You still don't understand what I'm saying," Grindelwald sighed. "I'm a seer—not a god who controls time and space. I can only foresee what has already happened in the future. Unless you're seriously planning for the two of us to walk every inch of the entire planet, I won't be able to give you any kind of accurate prophecy." (~ ̄▽ ̄)~Read 12 Chapters ahead:
