Days passed without anything to do, so we decided to train some self-defense skills. It was a boring time with only a few zombie sightings every day and the military could handle them without breaking a sweat.
The soldiers had a shooting range with a few paper zombies, so I asked for permission to shoot there.
The results? All of us could shoot very accurately, but I had a slight problem fixing Saya's and Miss Shizuka's aim.
Well, Saya's wasn't that hard. It was basic training and we could do it in just one morning, with the pinkette grumbling about her hand hurt and the gun's recoil was too strong.
On the other hand, Miss Shizuka...
"You just have to aim for the head."
"Uuu... It's easier said than done. Eyaaaahhh!"
Bang! The gunshot rang in my ear. Miss Shizuka's bullet flew over the target, piercing through a thin board in the distance.
"Haa..." I sighed and held my hand to her back, helping her fix her aim. "Like I said, relax."
Miss Shizuka's shoulder and arm trembled from the recoil, and I had to calm her down.
"This is a bit hard, I'll try!" She said in a determined voice.
"Relax your shoulders and breathe. Then, aim carefully and gently squeeze the trigger." I said in a low, calm voice, "You can do this. Trust me. The revolver isn't as strong as you think. Just fix your posture and you will be able to do it."
"R-Right! Okay!" She nodded.
Her hand trembled and the muzzle of the gun swayed. However, it was calmer than before.
"Okay, try to aim for the head." I guided her from behind, moving her hand manually with my own.
I could feel her body heat and smell her sweet perfume from here, making my heart race a little. I pushed it down, however, as this wasn't a good moment for that.
"Don't force yourself to hold the recoil. It will only tire you out. Let your hand move naturally with the recoil, it will save energy and you will be able to shoot better."
And it would prevent injuries.
Forcefully stopping the recoil could strain your joints, so I didn't recommend that method for a weak girl like Miss Shizuka. Letting the gun's muzzle move on its own was the best way to do things.
While it wasn't the most effective method, it was the safest. And it would be better to not shoot at all rather than injuring yourself, in a zombie apocalypse.
She took a deep breath and nodded.
"Here we go." I slowly moved my hand from the gun's handle, letting go of the teacher's delicate hand. "Shoot."
The sound of a gunshot rang through the air. The paper zombie got pierced by a hole and a small puff of smoke rose from it.
It missed the head but it hit the shoulder area. Still, it was an improvement and it would definitely stop a normal zombie for a second or so, which was good enough.
"Hmm... Not bad. Try to do the same thing and you'll get better."
I moved away from her, letting her do it herself.
"R-right. Okay." The teacher took another deep breath and calmed down her trembling hands.
After a few seconds of fixing her aim, she fired again. Her boobs jiggled from the recoil, bouncing up and down. I couldn't stop staring at it. This was why I taught her using the revolver.
What a feast to the eyes.
Another shot and the bullet hit the paper's neck.
"Not bad, not bad. That was good." I commented and patted her back. "Just like that."
"Fu fu fu~ I did it!"
She smiled and let out a happy cry, turning back to face me.
"Yeah. You did. Keep it up. I'm going to see the others." I patted her shoulder again and went away to the other girls.
Saeko had a close combat spar against Tania.
In the middle of a circle made by people who gathered, Saeko raised her fists in front of her chest, ready to attack or defend.
Meanwhile, Tania lowered her stance and put her left foot forward, ready to kick or dodge.
I could see her eyes shining in excitement, her breathing quickened.
They stared each other down for a while before Saeko finally launched herself forward, her right fist aimed straight for Tania's face.
Tania's expression remained neutral but she quickly dodged to the right, her leg lashed out, hitting Saeko's left thigh. Still, she underestimated Saeko’s physical ability.
With almost an inhuman reflex, Saeko turned and swung her arm in the direction of the leg. Tania's face contorted in surprise as Saeko's palm caught her leg, holding it tightly.
With a single motion, Saeko lifted her arm and slammed the black girl's body to the ground.
The ground shook a bit from the impact and everyone's attention was directed toward the fight. Some gasped while others cheered. The soldiers looked on with interest. This was the perfect opportunity to show off our skills and attract some positive attention.
Saeko's eyes glinted as she raised her fist. She brought her arm back, preparing to strike.
But Tania reacted in time to dodge it and rolled away, standing up and getting ready for another round of attacks. They exchanged some punches and kicks before Saeko managed to grab her leg and trip her.
"Shit!" Tania cursed.
Tania was good at using her legs, but when it came to pure close quarter combat, Saeko had her beat.
Saeko was faster and stronger. And the most important of all was that she was far more used to using her body for close combat.
Something Tania didn't have experience in.
However, Saeko was holding back.
I knew she could have defeated Tania by breaking her arm. However, this spar wasn't supposed to injure anyone.
So she ended it by stopping her fist in front of Tania's face. A mock killing move, if it was for real. It showed that Saeko had absolute control over the match.
"I lost." Tania admitted, breathing heavily from the exertion.
"Let's go another round," Saeko offered, her face brightened with a smile. She helped Tania stand up.
Tania wiped sweat from her forehead, nodding, "Of course."
Grinning, Saeko pulled Tania up and continued their spar.
I watched as Saeko easily avoided her opponent's attack and countered it with her own. They danced around each other for a moment before Tania stepped back for another attack.
The fight was fun to the point I didn't notice Saya stood next to me.
"Hmph! How barbaric." She commented, caressing the crossbow that I gave her back then, "A ranged weapon crossbow is better than the barbaric way to fight."
It seemed like she took a liking to the crossbow after she learned how to use it, so I let her keep it. It was a great weapon for her since she didn't like physical contact.
With the crossbow, she could just attack from afar.
We quietly spent our time in the encampment for the last few days. I became familiar with some soldiers and they told me some interesting stuff about the camp.
And today, finally, something passed by our head.
Our transportation to Chicago, a military helicopter.
