"There is a chance that the big zombie we encountered in the mall lab, Tyrant, can appear again," I said seriously.
I intentionally hid the fact that there were probably two labs instead of one. Although they saw one giant zombie, they didn't have knowledge of such a creature existing elsewhere. That's why I chose my words carefully to hide that fact.
"Are you sure?" Saeko inquired.
"No," I answered simply.
Saya then chimed up with a frown on her face.
"What's in the police station, anyway? And why did you need to go there?"
A reasonable question.
I thought of what reason to give, thinking as fast as I could.
"It's on the way to the international airport. I wanted to see if I can secure more weapons in the police station while heading to the port to seek transportation."
"But what about the soldiers? They surely can provide us with some sort of help, right?" Miss Shizuka added.
"That's what I thought too, but then I realized something. Will the JSDF give us their vehicle for free? We're just... high school boys and girls, and a nurse."
I explained kindly to Miss Shizuka, who looked confused, "If they did agree to send us somewhere, will they take responsibility? I mean, we're literally escaping from our country."
"Erm..." Miss Shizuka furrowed her eyebrows, thinking hard, "What do you mean? Of course they will help, right? We are still civilians..."
"Not quite right," Saya interrupted before Miss Shizuka finished her sentence.
I glanced at the genius girl in interest, wanting her to continue.
"Because Japan is under attack from these zombies, martial law is enacted. JSDF is in charge of restoring peace. Unfortunately, evacuating civilians using one of their military vehicles overseas are..." She paused and shook her head, "...not a priority."
"Exactly." I nodded at her explanation. "We are nothing more than liabilities for them."
"Hmm..." The teacher seemed to think deeper than usual, her face grimaced in frustration, "But, shouldn't they still protect civilians from danger?"
"They do. That's why they created a shelter somewhere." Saeko nodded, "However, giving a vehicle or aircraft just because some civilian asked for it... They won't do that. At most, they will let us stay in the shelters where civilians gather."
"Wait! Is there a place where many civilians gather?" Miss Shizuka widened her eyes, surprised. Her tone sounded hopeful. "Why don't we just stay there then?"
The three of us looked at Miss Shizuka quietly, our eyes staring at hers intently. She was an airhead as always and seemed unable to comprehend our situation.
"Do you want to live together with hundreds of other survivors inside a cramped space?" Saya asked mockingly, her lips curled upward scornfully, "Do you even know what kind of person there is? Criminals, murderers, thieves, rapists... Many horrible people can be there. Not to mention, zombies are pretty much everywhere so they might find us at any moment."
She remembered the mall accident.
"We are safer with four of us compared to when we're grouped together with hundreds of other people." I said quietly.
As if having no idea about it, Miss Shizuka tilted her head quizzically.
"I thought we left the mansion because you just didn't want to be bothered and want to have more sex. Am I wrong?"
Saeko and Saya choked on their saliva and coughed violently. The innocent question struck them unaware, leaving both young girls speechless.
"Pfftt..." I covered my mouth to prevent my laughter coming out, "...pfft hehehehaha—"
I laughed and held my stomach.
Marikawa Shizuka, truly someone whose thoughts were always filled with lewd but pure ideas. Without her, this zombie apocalypse would be grim.
Her expression of confusion made my stomach churn as I tried my hardest to suppress my mirth and smile. Saya and Saeko gawked at the busty blond's words, the former's face beet red, obviously embarrassed.
'Nice job, Miss Shizuka! Keep going!'
I calmed myself and straightened my posture, grinning.
"I told you that we were going overseas, no? I got a message from Miss Rika." I clarified to her.
"Oh. Umm, oh yeah!" The woman blinked cutely, seeming to forget about my initial explanation to the whole gang last night.
"How can you forget?" Saya huffed, annoyed by how clueless the mature nurse could be. "Unbelievable."
Miss Shizuka sheepishly smiled at the tsundere's remark. Her cheeks dusted with slight tinge of blush from embarrassment.
"Well, I'm sorry. It was nighttime yesterday and I wasn't paying attention very well. I was tired and sleepy back then, so..." She scratched the back of her head and laughed awkwardly.
"Seriously... Let's start again."
Sighing in resignation, I rephrased what I wanted to convey to Miss Shizuka. With a simple explanation, she immediately understood it.
And we began our discussion after that. Meanwhile, my phone still had a signal, so I sent a message to Miss Rika, a reply that she should wait for us.
In a certain city in the US, a woman with tanned skin wearing a tight leather jacket and long pants sat behind a sniper rifle, PSG-1, on a high roof. The magazine slot was empty, indicating it had been already fired, with fired shots laying everywhere.
Her purple hair hung loosely across her shoulders; she swept her fringe aside to get clear vision on the sight. Then, she pushed the safety off position to the firing mode without thinking.
The muzzle flashed brightly twice, echoing loudly through the otherwise silent street full of abandoned vehicles.
Down below on the pavement, a pair of undead slumped over backwards as two holes appeared between their lifeless eyes simultaneously. Their limbs twitched erratically for several seconds before falling limply onto the ground like ragdolls.
A police officer with short brown hair wearing a RPD vest that was about to be attacked by the zombie looked in her direction and waved his hand. He clutched his pistol tightly before storming inside the police office that seemed to be abandoned.
Above the entrance, the words 'Raccoon Police Station' were written.
"That's one ass saved." She muttered.
The woman then leaned closer and looked over her scope. There were a few people, seemingly police and secret services, inside the police station. She confirmed their positions carefully before pulling away from the scope.
"This is a bit boring."
At that moment, she pulled out her flip phone, which she had set to silent to avoid being discovered by any enemy forces within earshot. On its screen showed an unread message notification.
Checking it out, she read the name of the sender. "It's him."
