Both Wei Tian and Teacher Lee didn’t have any sense of danger. They were so well-protected. Jing Tuoshen and Gao Ming didn’t put their guard down. They tried to find flaws in the outsiders. The regretful thing was this group of people was like a group of white sheep. They had nothing that tied them to the ghosts. They didn’t seem to realise that the ghost stories were real. For them, this black mist was just a natural phenomenon.
“Do you come from outside of Han Hai?”
“In other words… the world outside of Han Hai is one without ghosts?! Only Han Hai has been affected?!” Jing Tuoshen sounded scary. Driver Wei scratched his head as he looked at Jing Tuoshen as if the latter was dull.
“It’s still too early to say that.” Gao Ming memorised the keywords from Wei Tian’s conversation. “Xin Lu First High School Class 13. You were on the way back to Xin Lu after an event. Does that mean the tunnel you took was between Xin Lu, Jiujiang and Han Hai? Was it close to Hen Shan Penitentiary?”
“That’s right! Even though that tunnel is the location for many accidents a few years back, it is much better now.” Wei Tian took out a pack of cigarettes. “Plus, I’ve over 20 years of driving. I’m good at my job.” Wei Tian opened the pack and offered Gao Ming and the rest cigarettes. This caused Jing Tuoshen to frown.
“I’m sorry, but do you know what happened here? Why is there no one here?”
The horrors didn’t happen. Instead, they ran into a group of living humans who came from outside of Han Hai. Based on their tone, they really didn’t know anything about the horror stories and anomalies.
The security member who pushed Wan Jie’s cart was kind. He didn’t shatter their hope. He only reminded them, “This town is very dangerous. Only you can save yourselves now.”
The woman’s shout echoed down the streets. It was too late for the security members to stop her. “Now, you’ve exposed us!”
“It’s fine. With the lamp, our location has already been exposed.” Jing Tuoshen pointed down the path they took to reach there to get the female teacher to participate with them. “Hen Shan Penitentiary is not far from here. Some perverted inmates have escaped. They might be hiding in this town. They love to torture people, eat human meat and drink human blood.”
Teacher Lee’s face was white. However, as scared as she was, her first reaction was to rush into the dark restaurant to find her students. It was very impressive. The students slowly walked out. The owners of the two private cars came over as well.
The pair who drove the luxury car was a pair of older couple. They appeared to be in their honeymoon period. The man’s hands kept wandering over his female partner’s body.
“Hello, I’m the vice manager from Immortal Pharmacy’s Purchasing Department. You can call me Larry. I’m older than you all. If you don’t mind, you can call me Brother Larry.” The man looked average. Somehow, he managed to make the expensive clothes look cheap. His girlfriend was very pretty. They looked more like father and daughter than a couple. “Tonight, I was supposed to head to the main company at Xin Lu for a meeting. It’s an emergency. Can you bring me to your superior?”
Everyone ignored Larry. Jing Tuoshen and Wan Jie didn’t think there were any ghosts hiding in the man.
Four youngsters came out from the other car. They were fashionably-dressed. Other than the driver, the other three had been drinking. One of them were practically falling asleep.
“They do not appear like ghosts or monsters.” The security members believed in Wei Tian even more. These people hadn’t encountered the ghosts before.
The students from Class 13 gathered around the school bus. Teacher Lee did a headcount. She almost fainted. Five students didn’t return. They seemed to have disappeared into thin air.
“No! I have to find them. The rest of you get on the bus! No one is allowed to leave it!” Teacher Lee was anxious, but she didn’t dare to enter the restaurant alone. She turned to the investigators for help.
“We are not the police. We are not obliged to help you.” Jing Tuoshen placed the oil lamp before him.
“This town is dangerous. Only you can save yourselves.” The security members pitied them, but they knew that pity would only get them killed. The dark restaurant lobby was covered in light black mist. Teacher Lee had on a serious look. She was pondering whether to enter the place alone. Her missing students might be in danger!
“I’ll accompany you.” Gao Ming suddenly offered. “If you trust me, can I pick a few students to come with us? With more people, we can fight back if we run into any criminals.”
“No!” Teacher Lee rejected him to protect the students, but Gao Ming directly walked past her.
Once his body left the range of the oil lamp, the black mist stuck to Gao Ming like it was alive. They seemed to sense something and wanted to crawl into his body. Once Gao Ming took a deep breath and hid the blood city tattoo deep inside his heart, the black mist slowly returned to normal. Once Gao Ming exposed a bit of the ghost tattoo, he’d be targeted.
“This black mist only targets the people from Han Hai. It is trying to stop the people from Han Hai from leaving…” Han Hai was like a quarantine zone. The black mist was the barrier. “Why do the people outside want to keep the people inside Han Hai? Is it for protection or extermination?”
His fingers touched the bus. It was similar to the one from his memory. Gao Ming entered the bus. He saw the young, worried faces.
“45 people. Adding the missing five, are there 50 students in your class?” Gao Ming asked the student closest to him.
The student shook his head and pushed his glasses. “We have 51 students, but one of them is sick, and he didn’t participate in the event.”
“51 students from Class 13. Is this another coincidence?” Gao Ming tried to stop his heart from racing to prevent the existence inside the black mist from sensing the God of Flesh and Blood’s presence.
