The God of Flesh and Blood’s summons hadn’t been this intense before. They were like two sides of the same coin. Not one was more powerful than the other.
“The body and the soul have to face the difficulties together. We can’t both sink into the abyss or shirk the responsibility.” Gao Ming knew how dangerous the nails on the heart were, but he still picked up the figurine with both hands and placed it against his chest. This was a perfect chance for Gao Ming to escape from the God of Flesh and Blood, but he didn’t do that. To reach a further distance, he needed the power of the God of Flesh and Blood.
The bus charged into the mist. Howls echoed everywhere. No direction was safe. The only thing Luo Dong could do was to keep going forward and not stop.
“I saw your determination at Everlasting Life Apartments. You were trapped in your grandmother’s room. You were the last to leave the bus and accompanied me right to the end.” Gao Ming held the mud figurine tightly, “We’ve been through the past together. I hope you’ll always be with me as we head into the future.” Gao Ming then removed the nails on the figurine. His fingers burned. Strange, black characters crawled onto his arms like bugs. The scene was strange, but Gao Ming didn’t mind it. The God of the Future needed to suppress the entire death realm. It couldn’t divert too much attention to dealing with Gao Ming.
“No one will be able to take away the things that belong to me.”
The God of the Future wanted to take over the God of Flesh and Blood. It would have almost succeeded if Gao Ming hadn’t escaped from Everlasting Life Apartments and Luo Dong hadn’t entered the tunnel to destroy the altar. Its clever plan crumbled due to a problem with a small section. It caused a destructive chain effect. Gao Ming could hear the scary screams inside the long nails. However, he showed no fear as he allowed the words to swim all over his body.
“The God of the Future has always been worried about the God of Flesh and Blood reuniting with me. We can’t unleash our full potential if one party doesn’t have the other. In that case…” With red eyes, Gao Ming pressed the figurine deep into his heart as his parents watched in shock. The nails pierced his skin. Gao Ming used this method to reunite with the God of Flesh and Blood. Their blood mixed. The fragrance of meat washed away the rotting decay of this world.
Gao Ming’s warm blood glided through the cursed nails into the body of the figurine. The two hearts pounded at the same frequency. It sounded like drums or like thunder. Four faces growled at the same time. The dried vessels underneath the figurine's skin filled up with warm blood. The God of Flesh and Blood regained his power.
Gao Ming was not the God of Flesh and Blood’s disciple, but he did something God’s most faithful disciple would not dare to do casually. This was a show of absolute trust. The pain came from his chest. The nails cut into Gao Ming’s flesh. Every nerve was triggered. Curses climbed through his body. Gao Ming’s body shook from pain. However, he had a nervous, crazy and mad smile on his face.
The God of Flesh and Blood reunited. They were inseparable. This time, the key operators were Gao Ming and Gong Xi. The familiar sense of power returned. Once the soul found a home, the flesh started to grow rapidly!
Gao Ming’s bloodshot eyes flew out. The complete pattern of the bloodred city floated on his skin.
“Open the torture room!”
The chains of fate rattled. Gao Ming took back both the heart of God and the heart of flesh. The ghostly shadows appeared around Gao Ming. Eight arms extended behind him. The tortured God of Flesh and Blood looked ready to tear down the night sky.
However, since the nails hadn’t been fully removed, the God of Flesh and Blood was unable to utilise its full power yet.
The power beyond the sustenance of the hidden room caused the city to break. The mist faded away to reveal the city’s real appearance.
The place had no sound. There were disciples of the God of the Past and the God of the Future everywhere. They were once the residents of the two neighbourhoods. However, they had been turned into livestock to generate fate.
They sat or lay at the corners. They had their eyes closed. They smiled and cried, trapped in their own future. Most of them had the black lines that represented the worst future growing out of them. The lines wrapped around their necks, absorbing their everything.
“Is this how the disciples of God end up?” Gao Ming held his chest. Sharp nails punctured both his and the God of Flesh and Blood’s hearts. Using too much energy would deplete their lifespan. He looked down the distance. There were a lot of doors at the end of this strange place. Every door had a clock. The clock that belonged to Gao Ming had been broken. The clock face was covered in blood.
“We should be able to leave through that door.” Gao Ming pressed Luo Dong’s shoulder. “Drive that way!”
The black lines on the other disciples coagulated to form a giant wave. It wanted to trap Gao Ming there forever. Both parties were fighting against time.
Gao Ming’s parents said nothing. They knew their son was all grown-up. The female ghost bent her tall body to look out the bus. She wanted to find her parents among the disciples.
“Since the God of the Future wants to pressure you with your parents, it won’t leave your parents here.” Gao Ming stopped disguising himself. However, he realised the ghost was still immersed in the character of Xuan Wen. Despite her appearance, she somehow gave off the impression of an obedient girlfriend.
The disappointment in her eyes was obvious. She sat on the seat helplessly. She wanted to lean her head on Gao Ming’s shoulder but she didn’t dare to approach him with her current body.
