Xia Yang reached out to touch the female corpse because she was that captivating to him. However, he only managed to touch his own skin.

I wish to see her head!” Xia Yang lamented. He saw himself as a simple person. He had a simple goal. He didn’t care about anything else, not even the safety of his own life.

His hand grabbed the doorknob. He pushed open a gap, and his body melted into the darkness.
“Don’t go in!” He Jing wanted to stop him, but it was already too late, “Has he lost his mind?”
Gao Ming handed Xia Yang over to Fan Li. Xia Yang’s selfish actions annoyed Fan Li. Even though Fan Li thought Xia Yang was crazy, he couldn’t watch the man walk towards his own death. Fan Li opened the safety door to the underground parking lot. At first, he thought Xia Yang wouldn’t be able to crawl far due to his injury, but he soon realised how wrong he was.
The underground parking lot had fully changed. The place reeked of decay, but everything was bursting with life. There were living meat pieces in the cars. Thick blood vessels coiled around the pillars. Human faces adorned the lampshades. There were swinging heads everywhere. Broken limbs grew like flowers.
This ‘verdant’ scene froze Fan Li. Life intertwined with death. This was the ‘future’ the God of the Future hoped for.
“I am here.” Xia Yang’s body was curled inside a thick capillary. However, the thing didn’t seem to harm him. “The God of the Future is not here now. I don’t know when it will return, but this is the best chance for us.” Xia Yang was definitely the craziest. A normal person wouldn’t dare enter this place. “I can hear Future crying. Help me find it.”
The God of the Future’s consciousness was chasing after the God of Flesh and Blood and Luo Dong in the world of clocks. The God of the Future’s flesh lured in Xia Yang and Fan Li. Prosperity Neighbourhood’s Building Three started to change wildly.
Hiding inside a tight storeroom, Gao Ming was practically sticking to ‘Xuan Wen’. They heard the knocking and Gao Ming’s parents calling for Gao Ming.
Xuan Wen had on a complicated expression. She should help the God of the Future to kick Gao Ming into despair. She might need to sacrifice herself. However, as she spent more time with Gao Ming, she started to hesitate. The God of the Future awarded her the worst future and told her that if she wanted to lessen her pain, she had to draw more people into the worst future. When she saw other people with their happiness, the pain in her heart turned into malice. She became the God of the Future’s accomplice before she knew it.
She once desperately yearned for love and relationships. That was the weakness the God of the Future took advantage of. It was why she was given the role of lover in people’s worst futures. She had tricked many survivors by reliving her dream love in the most glorious and despairing way. She hoped that she could alleviate her own pain by doing so. However, in reality, she only became more agitated and depressed. The God of the Future was not helping her by providing her with the antidote, but it kept feeding her an addictive poison. She had no idea when she had given up on herself and embraced the worst future.
However, she met Gao Ming. The man was different from any of the survivors she had encountered. He remembered all the details about this ‘Xuan Wen’. Their relationship was more than just love. It surpassed the shackles of death and fate.
Each room they entered was a different version of their future. They were partners in despair. Time was extended indefinitely.
During their interactions, ‘Xuan Wen’s illusions about love were realised by Gao Ming. However, she was ultimately not Xuan Wen. She was a ghost who was ugly and feared.
Xuan Wen was her role. However, she immersed herself fully into this room. She couldn’t, or rather, she was unwilling to give up this role anymore.
“Don’t respond to them…” Selfishly, ‘Xuan Wen’ didn’t want Gao Ming to be taken away from her. She knew she was no match for the God of the Future. If this was a dream, she merely wished to make it longer.
“Are they my parents?” Gao Ming looked lost. He reached for the door.
“They are not your parents!” ‘Xuan Wen’ actively stopped him. She uttered the words that she couldn’t say, “Do not answer them. Once you do, they will follow you forever as they feed you endless tragedies and curses. Family is a sanctuary but also a shackle.”
Gao Ming didn’t let go. He quietly stared at ‘Xuan Wen’.
“I’ll bring you to a place.” Spots of decay appeared on her skin. It seemed to be her punishment.
“A place Xuan Wen will definitely bring you to.” The woman held Gao Ming by his wrist. When she made his decision, she finally had a smile on her face.
They avoided Gao Ming’s parents. ‘Xuan Wen’ fought about an invisible power. She led Gao Ming to circle inside the building until they reached a room filled with clocks.
“The future you’re looking for might be hiding here.” The decay of the woman became more pronounced. Soon, she would lose all her beauty.
