“Gao Ming, Gao Ming!” Fan Li called out Gao Ming’s name in a small whisper. However, Gao Ming didn’t seem to hear him. He stood alone before the elevator before he was unceremoniously swallowed by the darkness. To warn Gao Ming, Fan Li and a few others also ran into Building Three. They ran very fast, but they still could not catch up to Gao Ming.
“Never use the elevators or enter enclosed spaces in the anomalies. That is the most basic knowledge. Did he discover something?” He Jing felt a lot better after Gao Ming left. As the vice-captain of the East City Investigation Centre’s Security Department, he believed he was much stronger than these horror game players.
“Gao Ming should have his reasons to do this, but…” Fan Li looked around anxiously, “The front door is now locked. We can’t leave anymore.”
“That doesn’t matter. The mud figurines’ restrictions on me are loosening. The power given to me by the ghost tattoo should be enough to resolve most dangers.” He Jing extended his palm confidently. However, the next second, his smile froze. His palm should have been covered in ghost tattoos, but only a faded pattern remained. There was a new force within Building Three of Prosperity Building that was suppressing him.
“Everlasting Life Apartments is the farm of the God of the Past. Prosperity Neighbourhood is the domain of the God of the Future,” The wounded Xia Yang leaned on Fan Li. “The past can be traced, but the future is unknown. There’s no way of predicting what we might face next.”
“How are you still not dead?” Fan Li was startled by Xia Yang. He thought Xia Yang was doomed. He didn’t expect the man to speak. The group paused before the elevator. Suddenly, Ou Yang Susu, who had been silent, turned to look down a dark corridor. She seemed to be drawn by something. She let go of her husband’s hand and took deliberate steps towards the corridor.
Doctor Lee grabbed Ou Yang Susu by her shoulders when he noticed this. “What’s wrong? What did you see?”
“Our daughter is waving at us. She’s telling me that she’s very cold and hungry. She wants me to bring her some clothes.” Ou Yang Susu didn’t realise anything was wrong. However, Doctor Lee’s face paled dramatically.
“Do you two have a daughter?” Fan Li was surprised. “I’ve never heard you mention her before.”
“How could an unborn child show up here?” Fan Li also held Ou Yang Susu, “That has to be a ghost!”
Thin, black veins grew around Ou Yang Susu’s eyes. She was extremely strong. Even two men could barely hold her back.
“It looks like we have entered the worst future. Stopping it is pointless. Only by weathering the storm can we survive.” Xia Yang’s head drooped. Teacher Xia looked harmless and weak. It was easy for him to gain the trust of others.
Doctor Lee started to let go after he heard Xia Yang. He held Ou Yang Susu’s hand. No matter what would happen, he would face it with her.
“No one can escape. We need to struggle with the issue that is the most painful to us. In the end, we’ll be lost in the future, or we’ll regain ourselves. That is up to luck. Most of the time, it has nothing to do with strength at all.” The paint on Xia Yang’s clothes faded. He was affected as well.
“It’s good that we’re still together. Gao Ming has to face the future on his own. He’s in real danger.”
“That’s right. I can’t even imagine how the God of the Future will torture him.”
“He must be in a lot of pain, right?”
Carrying the corpse, Gao Ming got on the elevator. He hadn’t figured out which floor he wanted to go to, but the elevator started and paused on the third floor on its own. The elevator doors slowly opened. Xuan Wen appeared at the door, holding a red present box. She didn’t expect to meet Gao Ming. her expression changed from surprise to joy. “You should be made by the God of the Future, right? In the worst future, the person I’m looking for is sent to trick me.” Xuan Wen scoffed. She didn’t enter the elevator. “You pretend to be him to bring me pain. However, what you fail to realise is that I’ve returned many times to the past and reached many times into the future. If you think this can bring me despair, you have grossly underestimated me.”
Gao Ming didn’t even get the chance to voice his doubts when the other party had already stated everything that was on his mind.
“Did you purposely come here to find me?” Gao Ming studied Xuan Wen. He couldn’t find a flaw in her.
“Based on the agreement, Gao Ming should have left the anomaly before the big selection started. Since he didn’t do that, we had to get in to find him.” Xuan Wen held the present and gave Gao Ming a once-over. “As for you, since you look like him, I won’t kill you.”
Gao Ming did have this agreement with Xuan Wen. Only he, Xuan Wen and Zhang Ding knew about it. Since this person knew about it, there were only two possibilities. One, the person was the real Xuan Wen. Two, the God of the Future looked into Gao Ming and Xuan Wen’s memory and created this persona.
After giving it some thought, Gao Ming walked forward expressionlessly and took Xuan Wen by her waist.
No matter what, Gao Ming wished to get close to this person. If it were the real Xuan Wen, Gao Ming would be glad. If it were not, he’d find some flaws in her.
Xuan Wen leaned to the side, clearly surprised by Gao Ming’s action. Gao Ming took another step forward, cornering Xuan Wen against the wall of the elevator.
“Would the Gao Ming you’re looking for do something ?” A low voice escaped Gao Ming’s lips. He was very close to Xuan Wen.
Perhaps Gao Ming thought he was being handsome. However, from Xuan Wen’s perspective, the corpse on Gao Ming’s back leaned forward as Gao Ming did. The smiling, bloated face swung about happily.
Xuan Wen’s eyes twitched. She resisted this, but Gao Ming grabbed her by her wrist.
“There are cameras here. Let’s find a different spot.”
Not giving Xuan Wen the chance to struggle, Gao Ming dragged her away.
“We were far more intimate whenever our fates restarted. This is nothing.” Gao Ming didn’t lie. Whenever he returned from the death tunnel, it was Xuan Wen who carried him out and brought him home.
