His Winter Heart Chapter 10

I remember him from the living room as he looked like Hannah and I'm sure Hannah had introduced him... "Hello, are you Snow?" He inquired. His bright emerald eyes and blonde hair appear to be inherited from the rest of Aunt Maggie's relatives. I nodded, unsure what he was going to say. "Good thing I managed to talk to you alone here.” He said, “I'm Luke, by the way, Hannah's brother if you happen to forget my name," he introduces himself, flashing me a cute, boyish smile. Luke? Oh, now I remember! I was stupid not to remember such a handsome face... I suddenly blush, realizing what I'd thought. I'd admitted he was handsome, and I looked down, my hair covering my flushed face. "Nice to meet you," I said hesitantly. "Nice to meet you as well," he replied. Silence fell between us, and I could tell we were both grasping at straws for something to say. Being the idiot that I am, I blurted out the first excuse I could think of, "Anyways, I need to go now... Bye," I say quickly before rushing past him. After a few turns, when I'd calmed down a little, I chastised myself for making such a pathetic excuse. At the very least, you didn't tell him you needed to use the restroom... I suppose that's even worse, I sighed. I climbed the next set of stairs I came across, taking a few wrong turns before realizing I was completely lost. I currently stood by the hallways, with a few doors to my left and right. Gosh, Luke talking to me just made me forget what Hannah had instructed me... I shivered. This mansion was enormous; I'm sure I'd be stuck here all day if I didn't find someone. Just kidding, people would notice if I had gone missing, right? That won’t happen. In my desperation, I opened the first door I could find, only to be blinded by sunlight. A cool breeze caressed my face, making me forget why I had come here in the first place. The scenery was breathtaking. Is this a balcony? What exactly was I looking for? Oh… the toilet. When I turned around to leave, I noticed someone standing at the railings. I almost jumped for joy when I realized the person could give me directions! Like a statuette, the boy stood there silently admiring the view. He's dressed in a black shirt, and his raven hair appears to be familiar... I can't tell who he is because he's facing the scenery in front of me. "I told you I'd come down later, geez," he said, his familiar voice making me nervous. Please don't let it be him, or anyone else. I said a silent prayer to myself and when the boy turned around, I winced because my guess had been correct. It was Strawberry Guy. Such a small world. Gosh, to think I was avoiding him for a few days now. Look what fate brought me. For a split second, his shocked emerald eyes met mine before he composed himself. "Oh, it's you. Yes, I see..." He spoke in his usual monotone tone. His face, like his voice, did not show any emotion. He locked his gaze on me for a moment before moving his eyes up and down. Satisfied, his gaze was fixed on mine, as if he suspected me of breaking into the mansion. I remained firmly planted in front of the doorway. I swallowed and averted my gaze from the scenery in front of us, where the trees danced to the rhythm of the wind. I shifted my gaze to the side and surveyed Aunt Maggie's garden from here; everything blooms here, from the tall trees from afar where a few children play to the lush grass lawn. I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel a strong glare from a corner. Then, as if I'd just noticed him, I made my fake-shock face. "What a small world!" exclaimed him. I waited for a response or a comment for a few moments, but he didn't respond or make a comment, remaining motionless like a statue. He did nothing more than blink a few times. Then I realized why I was here, and I devised an exit strategy. Take a break! "Well, I guess I'd better get going." "Why are you here?" he inquired again, brushing aside my retort. "I could ask you the same thing," I said calmly. Now that I think about it, every time I talk to him, the sassiness and sarcasm in my voice doubles as if to warn me to be cautious around guys like him. For a moment, he just stared at me, making me squirm inwardly. In comparison to my dwarf height, his six-foot-tall statue appeared to be that of a giant. What makes it worse is that I had to look up to see his stupid expression. He doesn't seem to be bothered by my attempts to appear threatening – I don't stand a chance against him because he has the most terrifying intimidating aura just standing there. He crossed his arms, as if analyzing me "Stupid, the owner of this house is my aunt. Now respond to my question,” He said. Oh, of course, he would be Aunt Maggie's nephew. I didn’t even notice it since his jet black hair and emerald eyes are different from their bright blue eyes and blonde hair. Anyways, that’s not my business anymore. I composed myself from my stunned state, "Aunt Maggie's best friend is my mother. So yeah, here I am." I answered, scowling at him. He gave me a snort. "I assumed you broke in." Oh, no! The audacity of him! "Are you absolutely certain you're Aunt Maggie's nephew?" I inquired, skeptically. He was the polar opposite of Aunt Maggie's kind and warm personality. "Unless you changed your mind and are now asking me to take you back into the shop...is that it?" he asked, raising his eyebrows at me.
