HIS SANITY Chapter 1

ONE The road ahead of me was dark and nerve-wracking but I kept walking, I had to keep walking. It was the only way to survive, I had no option but to keep walking. This was the look-only way. I breathed in the warm night air, it filled my lungs but did not help to ease my anxiety even after I exhaled. I wanted to walk away, to go back and sleep in the confinement of my home but that was not an option. Even my home did not feel like home anymore, it was a hole that I was desperate to leave for the past two years. I looked around me, I could feel eyes watching me but I did not dare to show the fear on my face. I could feel their presence but I dared not to acknowledge the people that hid in the shadows. I walked on with a straight face and if anyone of them paid attention they would notice that I was walking at a fast pace. I was not very eager to arrive at my destination but neither was I too eager to be watched by these creeps that took the chance to victimize people in the night. I had used this path so much that I could consider myself to be lucky that I had not ended up dead in some garbage bin or something. I still felt frightened whenever I walked down this path but I had learnt to mask it and hide the fear because if these nasty creatures knew, I would be theirs to feast on. I had to adapt and learn to survive in this world that was filled with creatures that were supposed to be mythical. On some days, I wished that I was as oblivious as every other normal person that would just walk past one of them without knowing what they are. My life had turned around ever since him. I still remember the first time I had seen one of them, one moment he was a man on two legs and the next he was a huge beast with sharp teeth, standing on all fours. Oh, how I wished every day that I had not been there, that he had not ruined my life. But that was all it was, useless wishing because it had happened and I could not change how drastically my life had changed for the worst. I walked around the corner and walked closer to the huge lit building that stood in front of me. I took a huge breath before walking closer and nodding to the two men at the entrance but as always all they did was acknowledge my body and stare at me with evident lust in their eyes. The urge to roll my eyes was at its all-time high but I ignored them and walked into the building. The smell of sweat, alcohol, cigarettes and other horrible smells mixed to form a nauseating smell that choked me. My stomach curled in disgust and the urge to breathe was not strong as I walked deeper into the building. People filled the dance floor with their bodies pushing against each, meshed up and grinding onto each other. The loud music fuelled their dancing and only made them continue grinding on each other and their sweaty bodies colliding with each other. Some stuck each other's tongues into each other and touched each other like there was no tomorrow. I was so used to this scene that it did not faze me anymore. I walked deeper and ascended the stairs that led to the second floor, not many people were allowed on this floor. I wish I could consider myself lucky for being among the few but I could not. I considered myself to be very unlucky, I wished I was one of those that only knew the first floor—no I wished that I did not even know that this place existed or those creatures and him. I walked closer to my doom as I walked through the hallway of the second floor which had multiple doors. Moans and other unholy sounds erupted from behind the doors, filling the entire hallway and floor. None of the people at the bottom could hear them because of the music but I could and these sounds tormented me. I opened the last door on the left and entered the small room with a bed and nothing more. There was only a small window but I had grown so accustomed to this room, the horrible ventilation, the rough carpet and the painted white walls. I was so accustomed to it that it made my chest tighten and my blood flow faster because I hated it. It disgusted me. I was disgusted with what I had become, I could no longer dream like others. I was not allowed to dream, being happy was a far-fetched dream for me now. I could no longer dream about a wonderful future as I had two years before him. He ruined me and I could never walk away from what I had become. Sometimes I asked myself when and how my life had become so unbearable...but I knew the answer to that. My life had gone under after him. After I lost meaning and everyone around me faded away. “You’re late,” I looked up at the owner of the voice, deep and rugged. Levi stood near the window with his hands in his pockets. The light of the moon that shone through the window accentuated his looks and made him look more handsome and mysterious. I took in a deep breath and held my hands in front of me. He always managed to take away my death when I looked at his face, he was unearthly handsome with an amazing body but it all made sense because of what he was. His jade eyes bore into me before he moved from the window and walked closer to me. “Don't make promises you are going to break...I can't keep covering for you. You do know that Louis can tell when a person is lying.” He started giving me the lecture that I always received from him. How could I tell him how much it took for me to just stand and walk here? How much it hurt to lose myself every spindle night. “You are lucky that I can control my emotions and lie with a straight face without my heartbeat picking up but I can't keep covering for you when you arrive so late, he’s going to find out and punish both you and me.” Levi breathed out, holding his head. “I'm sorry Levi,” “Don’t apologise...look I’m sorry that you have to go through this but don't test his patience, Louis will not hesitate to punish you like in the past. I just need you to be careful and stay away from trouble.” I smiled up at him. He was the only one in this rotten building that showed me that there were a few werewolves like him that were kind. His behaviour was a contrast to his rough look, ink along his arms and to his neck, a piercing below his bottom lip and hair that was always tousled sexily. “I'm going to go now, take care and don't be too defiant to the customers...you know that they like submissive.” He said but the strain in his voice let me know that he did not like what he said just as much as me. “Okay, thanks, Levi.” I thanked him because if it were not for him I probably would have not even known myself, I would have lost myself. He had helped me when I was at my worst, it was the first time that I had been assigned an Alpha and I was completely wrecked, unable to walk or speak. I could still remember the pain that wracked my body that day and I had the scars on my body to remember, he had left horrible claw marks down my thighs, stomach and back. It was the next morning when Levi and his men were cleaning the rooms when he found me on the rough carpet, naked and motionless. He helped me and assured me but no matter how much he told me that it would be okay, I knew that nothing would change for the better. This was my life and we both knew it. “Don't worry yourself, Wills,” he said before walking out of the room. I sat on the bed and heaved, this was my life now and I had to accept it but no matter how much I tried I could not. I sat and waited for whoever would be my next customer. This was my life now, fulfilling werewolves and their erotic ways. My life had shattered so much since Louis had ruined me, feeding me to his kind to have their way with me while he benefitted from it. A whole building filled with abused girls and boys to fulfil werewolves disguised as a normal club. If only I had not stepped into this building two years ago, my life would have probably been better. I would not have to be a sex toy for men and women alike. I would not have to be broken every time whenever they had their way with me. Somehow, Levi always told me that I was lucky compared to the others because unlike them, I could leave the building but the others did not know the outside. Louis kept them locked up and continued using them. Maybe I was lucky in that aspect but Louis still had the same hold on me as being locked up. I was just a slave to him, a toy that he could have fun with and then toss aside to his hungry wolves that also wanted a bite. I locked my hands together and dreaded what would happen next when the door opened and russet brown eyes stared at me. The door closed as the eyes lustfully scanned me, my body involuntarily shivered as I started at the owner of those eyes. “Mm pretty face. Don't worry I'm going to be as gentle as possible.” The cool and sultry voice said and warm fingers traced my jaw before the strikingly beautiful woman had me pinned to the bed. When I looked into her eyes I knew that she lied. .. they were never gentle.
