I woke up with my loud alarm blaring my ears. I reached out my hands to turn off the damn thing. I sighed in relief when it was silent. I peeked at the clock and it was 07.00. My class began at 10.00. I got up knowing that I would sleep again if I stayed longer in bed.
I took my toiletries and headed to the bathroom to do my business. I walked out only with my towel and rushed to my room to put some clothes on.
After dressing myself, I went to Dani's room to wake her up. Her class was at 09.00 and it was hard to wake her up.
"Dani. Dani wakes up", I shook her shoulder. She grunted and covered her face more with the blanket.
"It's 07.30 now and your class is at 09.00. Come on", I took the blanket away. She scowled at me but got up anyway.
I exited her room then headed to the kitchen to cook some breakfast. The fridge was empty but luckily there were some eggs left and little orange juice. Well, it was better than nothing. She better did the groceries today unless we wouldn't have anything to eat tonight.
I decided to make an omelet with all the eggs. I was starving like a lion and the smell of the egg being cooked started to make me drool. If I was alone, I'd eat it straight from the pan.
Dani came to the kitchen right after I placed the egg on our plates. I put some more to mine before putting the pan in the sink. She looked at the food with wide eyes, probably shocked why I only served this.
"We're out of groceries and you need to do it today", I said sternly.
"Yeah, I'm sorry. I'll do it today", she apologized and I nodded.
After finishing my breakfast, I cleaned our dishes and got changed for school. I decided to wear a long red sweater and dark jeans since it was quite chilly outside. I just brushed my hair and not wearing makeup like usual. I didn't like wearing makeup to school.
Dani was still in her room and I decided to wait for her. I watched some TV to kill some time. I looked at the clock and it was almost 08.30. Dani's gonna be late for school. I turned off the TV and knocked on her door.
"Dani. You're gonna be late", I said behind the door.
"Yeah. Just a minute I'm doing my hair", I heard her answered. I sighed and walked back to the couch.
Around 10 minutes, she finally got out of the room and I let out a big sigh of relief. I walked to the door to wear my sneakers but she was busy applying her lip gloss using the mirror near the living room. She saw my impatience and quickly finished her business before hurried to the door.
"Oh my gosh I think I'm gonna be late", Dani said as we ran to the campus. We reached her building and saw the professor was walking in her class direction. She ran faster and managed to get in the class before him.
After knowing she got to class without trouble, I walked in the other direction where my class at. When I reached the class, it was still empty like I predicted. I took a seat in the front row and took out my headphone.
I took out my books too decided to read the topic we were about to discuss in class. Slowly, other students started filling the class. I looked at my watch and it was 5 minutes left before the class started.
"Good morning class", I heard Mrs. Stone's voice as she walked into the class. I kept my headphone back in my bag and opened my book. It was gonna be a long day.
"OK. Now we're going to discuss the homework I gave you last week. I believe all of you had done it, right?", Mrs. Stone scanned the whole class trying to spot someone who didn't do the homework. We all muttered yes and she looked pleased.
"Alright. If you're all doing it, I'm going to call one of your names to read your answers", this was what I was afraid of.
"Priscilla Watson", she called. A girl with blonde hair sat in the fourth row stood up and read her answers.
"Very good. Next, Gregory Simon", she said again and a guy with brown hair sitting behind me stood up and read his answers.
"Ok, so what was your conclusion about this problem?", Mrs. Stone asked. She always did that to make us nervous but luckily Gregory could answer her question and she was pleased.
"Valerie Campbell", shit shit shit. I knew this would happen. I stood up nervously and read my answer. After I finished, I looked at her and she didn't look pleased.
"Is that all? I believe there is more than what you described just now. Anyone who has a better idea?", she asked the whole class. This blonde girl wearing glasses stood up and read her answer. It was almost similar to my answer but she added more useful information.
"That's the answer that I want to hear. You need to pay more attention to what you do not just copy someone else's work", what? I didn't copy my homework. Hell, I was doing it for hours last night. Now the whole class was staring at me making me uncomfortable. I slowly sit down hoping this class would be over already so I could hide from everybody.
I didn't pay attention to what she said next because I'd planted my deep hatred towards her. This wasn't the first time she embarrassed me in front of the whole class. I didn't know what her problem was but I was tired of being treated like this. I knew some people might think it wasn't a big deal but I was a sensitive person and I easily got emotional.
Once the class was over, I quickly ran towards the door leaving the class. I wanted to cry so bad but I decided to hold it until I was home. I called the cafe saying that I was feeling sick and couldn't do my shift today. They just bought it since I never missed my shifts. I needed time alone.
During the walk back to the apartment, I kept my head down still felt embarrassed of what just happened in class earlier. I didn't see where I was going that I bumped into someone but he/she managed to hold my shoulder before I stumbled to the floor.
I looked up to the person and was met with familiar eyes.
