CHAPTER 11: PICK UP LINES
Mr. Collins was shocked too, I guess, no one had spoken back to him before, well then lucky him, I am the first, big deal, pipe it down your spare throat, if you have any.
“I can’t believe this just came out of your mouth, I am truly disappointed in you, you have detention.” Mr. Collins concluded as he faced the front again.
“Ouch, tough luck.” Dwight whispered.
“Yeah, whatever, where were we?” I said looking back at him.
“You just got detention.” Dwight pointed out.
“And? I am still stuck in this damn school without it anyways, its not as if I had planned to go shopping.” I replied rolling my eyes.
“Okay, I am in, what’s the deal.”
“Deal is, you give me 100 chemistry pickup lines and I will grant you a wish.”
“Anything?”
“Kissing and making out is out…. Who am I kidding. Yeah anything.” I said rolling my eyes.
“And if I fail to give you 100 chemistry pickup lines?”
“I will get to that later so do we have a deal?”
“Yeah, I guess we do.” Dwight said as he brought his hand for a handshake.
And that’s how my problems started, I thought he wouldn’t actually give me a 100 pickup lines, because for a while, he kept quiet and I thought I was victorious, hell I was already making planes of what I will tell him to do, but I didn’t know that he was just getting ready, now we are on number 84 and I have never been so frustrated since that holdup in traffic five years ago in Senegal. I already told him to stop, but his smart reply was we had a deal…. I made a deal with the fucking devil.
“Girl, you are a charged atom because I got my ion you.” Dwight said again and winked.
“Oh my god, now he’s at 90. He tapped me again and I looked at him tiredly.
He almost burst out laughing when he saw the expression on my face.
“Go ahead and laugh, you win. I hate you. You win okay, just stop talking.”
“Huh, is that so? Good because I was tapping to tell you that I had run out of pickup lines.”
“What! Noooooooo.” I screamed as the bell rang signifying the end of the class. Mr. Collins glared at me before leaving, but that wasn’t my headache now.
One of my classmates, Sian, aka one of Tracy’s bitch apparently walked up to us and said.
“Hey Dwight, I missed you yesterday, you didn’t show up in my bed again.” She said kissing him right on the lips.
Typical, just typical, another reason why me and Dwight won’t work. I thought as I stood up.
“I guess I better get going and leave you sex deprived freaks here.” I said carrying my bag.
“Ruby, I will get to my prize, later. Dwight said as I nodded my head and left. I was the last to leave, thankfully I had gone out before I saw something that would scar me for life. I unconsciously looked back and I saw that Dwight hands were always in her and she was screaming for life. Damn it, now I am definitely scarred for life. I said as I stormed away to my locker.

Jeiel had left Mrs. Morgan office, after being summoned when she came across Ruby headed down the hallway.
“Hey, Ruby, where are you off to?” She asked.
“My locker.” Ruby replied as she kept on moving, definitely not looking forward to any conversation.
“Your locker? You are heading to the janitor’s closet.” She ran after her and caught her by her hand.
“Ruby. Is anything wrong? What happened? You only go to the janitor’s closet when….”
“I am fine okay. I am fine, so no need to bug in.” ruby said as she snatched her hand from Jeiel’s own and reversed back heading to the cafeteria. Just then, the bell for lunch rung as everyone began to head there too.

I am so bored of this class. Its fourth period and I was already feeling so tired and bored. I started drawing doodles at the black of my book as I waited impatiently for the bell to ring.
“Hey, nice to meet you. I am Josie Russo.” A girl whispered extending her hand towards me.
I looked at her, then her hand and said sorry, not interested. I came here for a purpose; I can’t let myself be distracted by some irrelevant things. Her hand fell and I should feel bad but I didn’t. I went back to drawing my doodles
The rest of the morning went in a blur. Mrs. Denise even made things worse by just picking me to answer her stupid questions which I answered correctly by the way. Just because I hate it…. wait, which class am I in again? oh shit, Physics… doesn’t mean I shouldn’t try at least right? I looked at the time again and it remained just five minutes for the class to be over.
Josie didn’t try to talk to me after I blew her off and I was grateful. I caught her stealing glances at me but I pretended not to notice.
I was kind of surprised that I haven’t been called to the principal’s office after the stunt that I pulled today. Maybe Blondie and Hotshot were all talks and no actions. Anyways that was the least of my problems and that was when I heard the glorious bell ring. Finally!
I grabbed my stuffs and threw one last glance at Josie and then I walked out the class not before glaring at my new favorite teacher, Miss Denise. Seems like Romeo had a free period like I had last class.
I walked to my locker and punched the combination. Ass hat Aidan wasn’t here, thankfully. I wasn’t up for a rematch. I checked my schedule and saw that it was Lunch already. Wow 3:30pm, how time flies when you having fun. I said sarcastically. After that I had music, and civic before school will finally be over and I could return to my dorm. I sighed.
Today is just not my day, I thought to myself as I grabbed my map and started my journey.
FAST FORWARD
It was lunch break and everything has been going smoothly except for the glances they threw at me. Oh and I forgot to mention that we had two separate cafeterias. One was just for us, the final years and the rest were for the rest of the school. They thought that we needed the space since we are no longer kids and we deserve our own privacy, but deep down, I knew it was just given for kids to have tantrums without the juniors’ ones finding out about it.
The cafeteria wasn’t hard to find, as everyone made their way towards it, I quickly stashed my map back into my back as I got in, I marveled at the grandness of it. I wondered why didn’t I see it earlier in the morning, but who cares, I am definitely seeing it now.
It was like a dining hall and it had a lot of huge chandeliers. All the table had six chairs each except the one in the middle which had seven. Why were those brats been treating like gods around here, that’s so fucked up? I bought fries, a juice box, an apple and a plate of spaghetti and meatballs, found a random table and started eating. The cafeteria doors swung open and the horrible six walked in, in all their glory.
Pathetic fools. Jock Adrian was in the middle and I could see some girls fixing their hairs and unbuttoning their shirts halfway to show more skin.
They got their food and walked to their table and started talking. Tracy aka Blondie was basically throwing herself on Aidan as she sat on his legs and stroked his chin. Aidan on the other hand looked rather disgusted and the two other guys-the British accent plus another handsome dude were fake gagging at them. Tracy’s minions were giggling endlessly and were throwing winks at every single guy that passes by them. It was kind of funny, when one of them who was a black American threw a wink at a nerd and the guy tripped on his own feet and fell. Poor guy.
Then after a while, I saw three girls with Ruby and they were heading to the table that I was.
Just great. I said rolling my eyes as I continued eating my food. I frowned when I saw Josie and another …. Josie? they were too identical and being in the same matching uniforms didn’t help matters.
“Can I help you?” I asked not even sparing them a glance.
“You certainly can. That’s our table you are in.” one of the twin said aggressively as the twin stamped on her foot and apologized sweetly.
