Robert’s POV
Different emotions were emerging in me. On one hand, I didn’t know why he did this. If he did this willingly, then why was he killed, and even if he did this because he was forced to, then too- why was he killed.
Is Nicholson involved?
I can’t jump to conclusions; I have to keep an open mind.
I went to MO and Ron and Cane were not present.
“Where are they?” I questioned one of my men.
“Boss. They are at the hospital, collecting Autopsy reports”
I nodded and went to my cabin. I sat down. This is too much. Losing him, was enough of a problem. Now, I don’t even know if he was a traitor or not.
I received a call; it was from Ron.
“What Ron?”
“Autopsy reports came out,” he informed me. “It says that he died due to over drug usage”
“Over drug? That’s impossible!”
“Someone drugged him. He hated drugs. Although, we still don’t know it for sure”
“But why would someone over drug him?” I questioned as I got up. “I need to go to his place at Apartment B. Come with me and bring Hailey. Can you?”
“Yes boss”
I went back to Apartment B, but then I thought that if I couldn’t trust Max, I can’t trust Ron.
“I will bring Hailey. You just reach his apartment” I instructed as I took my car and drove off to my house.
I hurried to my room and found her lying on the bed, probably sleeping.
“Hailey? You awake?” I whispered slowly.
Her eyes shot open. “Yes, I am” she stood up. “Tell me, he didn’t do it on purpose, right?”
I caressed her head as I felt her getting anxious. “We will know. Oh yeah- we got the autopsy report. He was over-drugged”
She looked down at the ground. “That explains it. He-he was drugged into this. He didn’t do it on purpose!”
“Hailey…”
“No! Robert, I want to believe this! I can’t… I can't think that… because…he was my only friend. I can’t think that he did that willingly!”
I hugged her as she started sobbing. “We will find the truth. Come with me”
She nodded and we went to my car. “Also, he didn’t do drugs. So, most probably he was drugged by someone else-- and most probably, Nicholson.” I told her as she nodded absentmindedly.
I reached his room, which was till now thoroughly checked by my men.
“Here, He left a letter” one of my men handed over a long letter to me. I nodded and took it, Hailey was behind me, reading it too.
“Hello. First question. Are you Mrs. Hailey or Robert? If you aren’t any of them, please kindly don’t read this letter.
Now, if you are, then let’s proceed. I don’t have time, you know.
Firstly, Robert. I am sorry. Sorry, because I was the one who drugged you that day. Yeah, surprised, right? Sorry. I don’t know if you’ll ever forgive me or not. But I am sorry.
I will tell you. I don’t wanna be a traitor-- but Nicholson has me. He is keeping track of me and so, I don’t know if I will ever be able to apologize or not.
Why am I writing this letter when we have phones? Well, I broke my phone yesterday, because, through that, he would have been able to track you down. So, I am temporarily using a burner phone, but yet, I will not contact you. Burner phones are not untraceable.
Maybe I am already dead by now, ain’t I?
Never mind, don’t be sad. However, I wonder if you are; after what I did.
Now, Hailey…. I-I am sorry.
I declined them. I declined them when they told me to do things to you. I straight away told them that you are worshipable to me. You are like a goddess. Not for just me, but for everyone-- especially Robert.
But sorry. I know they will drug me into doing it. But still, I won’t. Don’t worry, I have taken another drug to remain in my senses even if they do drug me. I hope… I won’t touch you. I don’t know you hate me-- or hate the hell out of me. But still, I will always look out for your forgiveness. I will not ever do anything like this… I hope I don’t. But, Hey. One thing is important. I HAVE ALWAYS Been A LOYAL FRIEND TO YOU. Please let me be your dead friend? Please don’t remove the letters ‘FRIEND’ from my existence?
Next, Robert. Listen. If you are Mrs. Hailey reading… please don’t read any further. That is my last wish, I don’t want to read any more of this letter now. I want to let Robert-- and only him-- read this from here. Please. Hope you’ll listen to my last wish?

I left the space so that she wouldn't read it accidentally.
However, I assume you are Robert.”
“I am leaving,” Hailey said and I looked at her. There were tears in her eyes. “We will talk about this later, okay?”
“No, wait” I stopped her by her hand. “Talk, right now. Let it all out. I will read the rest later”
She nodded and exhaled. “You know…”
“Hm?”
“He could have stopped me. From calling you. But he didn’t. Because he wanted me to call you. He wanted me to be safe” she cried. “It is all my fault. He… he died saving me. He died because he denied doing anything wrong with me!”
I hugged her. “You are right, Hailey…”
“I-I am so ashamed to think about him that way…”
“No, it was not your fault” I caressed her back as she continued sobbing.
“B-But, why did they kill him? He… he came to my apartment under the drug influence and t-touched me. Then why?”
“I don’t know,” I exhaled. “It is too much. He… he was such a loyal man and my best friend here. Y-Your friend too. How will we go through his loss?”
“W-we will organize a memorial”
“Yes, we will. A grand one” I promised and she nodded.
“I… I wanna go home. I will talk about this later now”
“Yes fine. I will drop you”
I kept the paper in my back pocket and drove her to our house.
She went to the bed. I could still hear her sobbing, but she slept after a while.

I took out the letter to finish it. And what I read shocked me to the core. It… it is impossible!
