Her Tears Chapter 31

THIRD POV *** FlASHBACK “Grandma,” “Oh, you didn’t go with them?” “I didn’t go with them because I didn’t want to leave you, grandma, because you’re alone here,” “You should follow them,” She looked at her grandmother, who was decorative stitching cloth and smiling. “What are you up to?” Her grandmother had stopped stitching. “Ah, is this? I’m making you a handkerchief, so you’ll remember me when I’m gone,” said her grandmother, and smiled. She stared at the grandmother until her surroundings were dark, and she wondered what happened; her grandmother was just beside her, smiling at her, now crying and begging someone in front of her. The young girl was just stunned and unable to move because she did not know what was going on. “G-Grandma?” The old lady smiled at her. Scarlett covered her mouth when she saw it, and she also noticed that she was inside a cabinet and could hear a cry. Sounded like her grandmother pleading with people she didn’t know. Scarlett covered her ears because her grandmother’s screams, which had become music to her ears, startled her. When she saw her grandmother lying on the floor, her eyes widened. She even noticed him in front of her grandmother. “If I can’t have you, Josephine, it’s better to die so Verno can mourn your loss, and I can take everything he has.” Scarlett was just stunned and sobbing. “GRANDMA!” *** END OF FLASHBACK (A/n: This is narration for all of our characters.) “GRANDMA!” Scarlett woke up in the middle of the night, hugging herself, her tears streaming down her cheeks. She’s not sure if that night really happened because it was the last time she saw and was with her grandmother, and regardless of what she did, she couldn’t remember anything, and it always visited in her dreams. Scarlett was stunned in her bed and appeared to be out of her mind because of the nightmare she had witnessed. Scarlett was still motionless in the morning, and the Knights appeared to be frustrated about what they had discovered. *** “I can’t believe Scarlett went through all of that; I thought she was pretending to have amnesia.” They just shook their heads at what they discovered. “What are we going to do? We can’t just leave everything to Scarlett.” They just sighed because, even as their family is strong, they cannot deny that they have flaws. “We will join the fight. We will fight alongside each other because we did not become knights for nothing.” They are going to do everything they can to help her. Carter Knight seems to debate what to do with what he has found. He wasn’t old enough to protect Lady Josephine and Scarlett. He sighed as he looked at the Knights’ possessions. “What should I do?” *** “Enough, Dominic!” Dominic stopped drinking by waving at Sophia. “Leave me alone!” Dominic yelled, glaring at Sophia. “What did I say?” Sophia came to a halt and was about to touch Dominic when he pushed her hand away. “D-Dominic…” “GET OUT.” Sophia stormed away, leaving Dominic alone, who threw everything on the table, grabbed his head, and sobbed. “Scarlett, tell me what to do.” *** While the chairperson was sitting in his swivel chair, thinking, he noticed a picture of his wife, Josephine. “Josephine, did I make a mistake? I wish you were here,” the chairperson said, hugging his wife’s picture and wondering what else he could do. *** Let’s return to Scarlett, who is still expressionless. She didn’t notice her mother enter her room and take a seat next to her. “Scarlett, don’t be like this,” Sharlene pleaded with her daughter. “Don’t force yourself to remember; I don’t want you to go back to your old way.” Scarlett came to a halt and stared blankly at her mother. “Who or what was I before?” Scarlett’s words stunned Sharlene, and all her tears stopped. “S-Scarlett…” Sharlene was even more surprised to see her daughter. “Should I remember Grandma’s death or the true perpetrator?” asked Scarlett coldly. Sharlene covered her mouth because she was about to feel what she feared. Something will be different about Scarlett. “Please—” Sharlene couldn’t finish her sentence as Scarlett smirked at her. “Is it okay for me to just leave everything alone, mom?” asked Scarlett. “Grandma died without justice, and Ken died because of me; is it right for me to just remain silent?” Sharlene was unable to speak because she could sense how her daughter was feeling. Scarlett gave her a look. “I want to remember everything, and I would like to know everything,” she says as she wipes away her tears. “I have nightmares where I’m uncertain if it all happened.” Scarlett clung to Sharlene’s arm as she hugged her daughter. “I see many images, and all of them are tragic,” Scarlett smirked, her tears falling. “What happened to Grandma, Mom? You said she died because of a serious illness, but… What really happened to Grandma?” Sharlene stroked Scarlett’s hair as she sobbed while hugging her daughter. “They killed her, didn’t they? I was there to witness everything, and I’m the only hope of catching the perpetrators.” Sharlene’s eyes widened as she hugged her daughters even tighter. “Was I right?” Sharlene took a deep breath and stroked Scarlett’s hair. “No, listen to mommy, okay?” said Sharlene as she stroked Scarlett’s cheek. “You don’t have to do that. Many people will do that to catch the culprits, okay?” Scarlett didn’t speak, so Sharlene peeked at Scarlett with her eyes closed and laid her down to rest. She smiled as she kissed her on the forehead. “You don’t have to get your hands dirty; many of us can move to find out who the perpetrators are,” she whispered as she stood up. She took another look at Scarlett before leaving her room. Scarlett opened her eyes at the same time Sharlene went out. Scarlett raised her hands in front of her face to stare it down. “They would rather not dirty my hand, but I’ll only dirty it if I move,” Scarlett whispered. She clenched her fists and recalled what her grandmother had said. *** “Scarlett…” “Yes, Grandma?” “Please don’t leave our family behind when I’m gone, okay?” “Are you going to die, Grandma?” “Hahaha! Not yet, so just listen to what I’m saying.” “Yes, grandma.” “You take care of this family; don’t let it go. If you have to get your hands dirty, do it to protect the people you love, and remember everything I told you when you get to the right age.” “Grandma, I’m like a superhero.” “You’re a knight, so you have to fight for the people you want to protect; don’t let me down, Scarlett.” “I will protect my family, Grandma!” *** Scarlett clenched her teeth as her head ached, and she looked at her hands in reaction to what her grandmother said. She clenched her fists as she stood from her bed, opened the curtains, and gazed out at their land. “I promised Grandma I’d protect the family,” she whispered, grinning. “Why did I forget important things?” she wondered, shaking her head. “I’m a knight, so it’s only natural for me to move.” She smirked again as she looked at her hand. “I’ll get my hands dirty if it means protecting my family.” She went into the window. “I will do what I avoided before: enter the real world for us,” she smirked as she took her phone. “We need to talk about something, Carter.” *** A/n: Merry Christmas everyone!!!
