I and Sana both were looking into each other's eyes and I felt the pain she was hiding behind that emotionless face. unwillingly a tear rolled from my eyes and at the same, a tear rolled from her eyes as well.
She wiped her tears quickly and started working on her laptop, ignoring my presence. I went to her and closed her laptop. She looked at me and then sighed.
"What happened?" She asked.
"That should be my question, Sana. What happened to you?"
"Nothing.. you're just overthinking" she scoffed and stood up from the couch. Before she could go anywhere, I held her hand.
"Please Sano tell me what is going on inside your mind. I can't bear your silence"
"why?" I scrunched my eyebrow in confusion.
"Why did you always keep thinking about me only? why don't you care about yourself?" She held my hand and brought me in front of the mirror. I look at my mirror image. My hair was messy and my eyes were blood red as I rarely slept for two to three hours yesterday.
"This is my problem... The way you react is my problem. You always worry for me like an insane person and your concern and madness toward me, scare me. Every moment I felt guilty that because of me you're not okay. You're facing so much" she said in a cracked voice and I know she is trying her best not to cry in front of me.
I turned towards her and pulled her close to me.
"I'm okay... It's just that I got a little scared in the morning... Nothing else" I said.
"You also know Alex, it's not only about yesterday's incident. from the day you get to know about Andrew, you're behaving like this. I love the way you love me but I hate the way you went crazy behind me. It scares me. We are in a healthy relationship. Don't turn it into toxic"
"Sano" I looked at her in disbelief and was shocked, not able to believe what she said about our relationship.
"It's nothing like that.. you're overthinking" I mumbled. she sighed and distanced herself from me.
"Okay.. let it be. you go and take a bath. I'm thinking of preparing something for lunch for us"
"Why are you going anywhere? Asked anyone to bring it into the room. No wait, let me get freshen up then I will go and bring lunch. I don't trust anybody. what if the person who wants to harm you would be in the kitchen and do something... No... you're not going anywhere" I said and made her sit on the bed holding her hand.
"You sit here… I will just come in five minutes" She didn't say anything, kept looking at me.
"Please stay in the room only. okay" I said. she sighed and then nodded her head in agreement. I smiled and kissed her forehead.
"I'm just coming" I mumbled and headed towards the washroom.
"First take your clothes with you Alex" She scrawled. I looked at her and then went towards the wardrobe. I took out my clothes and went to the bathroom to take a bath.
I took a bath as quickly as I could and went outside. My eyes went to Sana who was in deep thought.
"Sano" She looked at my side.
"Please Alpha Alex bring lunch for us because I'm starving"
"Why are you talking like this with me?"
"Then what should I say when you indirectly locked me in my room because of your fear?" she scoffed and stood up from the bed.
"It's nothing like that, Sana. I'm just worried for you... what if Andrew came and try to harm you"
"Forget it… My hunger died with your words." She said and went towards the door of our room. "I want to spend some time alone in the park... please" She screeched and went outside.
The thought of leaving her alone was enough to scare me. I tried… I genuinely tried not to go behind her but yesterday's incident settled a fear inside me. I couldn't stop myself from thinking about yesterday and went behind her. I stopped in mid when Max came my way.
"Luna ordered me not to let anyone enter the park as wants to spend some time alone"
"Did you forget that I'm your Alpha" I growled.
"No" he bowed his head and then again looked at me. "Alex, may I know what is going on?" He asked this time like a friend.
"She is alone Max. I'm scared what if"
"Shut up" he frowned, interrupting me. "Nothing will happen to her. Yesterday's incident was a lesson for us and believe me I tightened pack security for her safety. Trust me nothing will happen to her" He said. I was about to argue but he bit me.
"Don't utter nonsense. I told you that no one can harm her and stop behaving like a psycho Alex." He growled and his words made me realise my behaviour.
"I'm sure you and Sana fought because of this only," He said. I nodded my head and told him everything that had happened since morning between me and Sana.
"You know, you're not at all helping her but forcing her to stay away from you"
"What?" I frowned and looked in the direction where Sana went.
"Yes... Like the way, you can't see her in pain. she also can't see you like this, panicking and getting restless for her. Like you, she also cares about you as she loves you" I look at him abruptly, not able to understand what to say. These are those words that I wanted to listen to from the start. I always force myself to believe that she loves me but hearing it from his mouth, it gives me so much relief.
"She loves me?" I again asked, wanting to confirm whether what I heard was right or wrong.
"Anyone can say that she loves you."
"Is it that obvious" I look at him dumb head. He chuckled at my words.
"Yes, it's obvious... The way she looks at you says that loves, adores, and cares for you" he said. I hugged him happily.
"Thank you so much, Max. I can't express how envious I'm after hearing those words" I laughed and broke the hug.
"But you're turning her love into fear, Alex" Smile vanished from my face upon hearing his words.
"You're scaring her"
"me" I pointed at myself not able to understand how I could be the reason for her fear.
"Yes, you... just the way you care for her, she does for you. she is scared that your love for her will snatch everything from you. Your peace, your smile, your calmness or say she is scared that you will lose yourself in loving her"
"No... It's nothing like that"
"But you're proving all her freedom to be true, Alex" He frowned. I was about to say something in my defence but no word came out of my mouth as I realised he was right. He is indeed right the way I'm behaving is enough for her and Max to think that I'm losing myself.
I rubbed my face with my palm, not able to understand what I should do or not. Max put his hand on my shoulder.
"Come with me," He said and took me to Emily's room.
"Stay here only and listen to our conversations" He whispered.
"What?" I yelled.
"Shut your mouth and do as I say" He growled and went inside. I looked at the door side, wanting to go near Sana but I controlled myself as I also wanted to know what Max is trying to do or say because he never guides me wrong and whenever he says or does something it is always beneficial to me.
I smiled and thanked the moon goddess for sending such a friend into my life. I came out of my thoughts when a cushion landed on my head. I looked inside and my eyes widened seeing the scenario in front of my eyes. Max was trying to calm his mate, Emily, who was throwing anything that was coming in her hand at Max.
I wanted to laugh seeing him but one glare from him was enough for me to shut my mouth and enjoy his misery... Emily went to him and held his collar tightly, widening my eyes. I thought only I act like a love-sick puppy but no, every man has the same condition in front of his first and last love... In front of his mother and his women...
