“Hey Emma, can you help me with the table over there?” Sarah pointed at the table with a couple sitting by the window.
“Okay, I'm on it.” Emma replied.
“Good day. May I have your orders please?” Emma said to the couple while bringing out a pen to take down their orders
Seated at the table was a blonde lady with green eyes and a plump lips. She was wearing a dark blue jeans and a blue tank top with a black jacket over it. She was quite beautiful, probably in her twenties. Sitting across her was a ruggedly handsome black haired guy with grey eyes, his jaw was well defined. He was wearing a black button down shirt and a dark blue jeans. They both turned towards Emma and smiled. The lady ordered for some vegetable salad and a glass of red wine while the guy ordered for steak and a glass of wine as well.
Emma took down their orders, smiled and left. She gave the orders to Eric, while she went to go clear some other tables she had previously attended to.
The manager of the restaurant, Mr. Thomas came out of his office and called Emma.
“Miss Russell, can I have a word with you in my office?”
“Oh, okay.” Emma said with a slightly confused look before turning back to Sarah, pleading with her to attend to the table with the black and blonde hair couple while she headed to the manager's office.
She knocked on the door and opened it.
“You wanted to have a word with me. Is there a problem?” she nervously asked.
“Yes I did. Please take a seat.” he offered, which she did.
“Miss Russell, we’re aware of how you've been coping with the death of your parents and the condition of your brother in the hospital, but we can’t have you using that as an excuse to neglect your work. We ignored it for this long but have decided that it can’t continue.”
“I’m so sorry about that sir, I promise it won’t happen again.” she pleaded.
“I’m sorry to break the news to you, but the management has decided that you can no longer work here.”
Emma was already in tears. She tried to convince her manager to give her a second chance but it was all to no avail. She hesitantly stood up from the chair and walked out of the office, gloomingly.
“Is everything okay, Emma?” Sarah asked her best friend.
“I just got fired.” Emma replied.
“Oh my God! What are you going to do now?”
“I have no idea Sarah. I’m a mess right now. Everything is falling apart right before my very own eyes and I'm so so confused.” Emma explained in tears.
Sarah hugged her best friend, saying comforting words to her.
“I’ll go change and head home.” Emma told Sarah while wiping her face.
“Alright. Please give me a call when you get home.”
“I will.”
Emma changed into her clothes, a faded blue jeans, white tank top and a white canvas. She said her final goodbye to Sarah and the rest of her colleagues and walked out of the restaurant. She called a taxi and got in. She told the driver her address and he drove her home.
Emma arrived at her house, she took a long sigh before opening the door and walking inside the house. She slumped on the couch and cried her eyes out before drifting to sleep in the living room.
