Yun Xiangxiang froze. Did…did my brother just flirt with me?
“Your little brother loves beauty. And he only likes to be hugged by girls,” Su Xiuling exposed her son’s embarrassing history. “Aside from your father, he won’t let any guy hug him. He would even throw tantrums if someone’s smoking.”
“Really?” Yun Xiangxiang looked at her little brother who was squirming to find a hiding spot with amusement.
“Yeah. He’s a precocious kid,” Su Xiuling’s greatest fun now was teasing her son every day. “He can scheme too.”
Su Xiuling was wearing a dress embedded with rhinestones one time. Those sparkling trinkets attracted children the most.
Yun Ting ripped one off and it fell to the floor. He quickly grabbed it. Su Xiuling was worried he might swallow it. She immediately wanted him to give it back. Yun Ting refused.
He stared at Su Xiuling with his puppy eyes for a long time. Even so, Su Xiuling didn’t relent. Seeing this, Yun Ting showed his mother the hand without the rhinestone in it. He couldn’t string a full sentence yet, but he was saying: Look. It’s gone. It’s not here.
Su Xiuling was tickled by his shenanigan. The little one giggled too. When he was giggling, Su Xiuling snatched the rhinestone from the hand that was holding it.
Yun Ting was stunned for half a minute before realizing he lost his precious trinket. He pouted and started to wail.
“Here. I even recorded it on video. He’s adorable,” The elegant Su Xiuling immediately changed into a shameless mom.
She selected the video of her son’s daily embarrassment and played it for Yun Xiangxiang.
“Don’t look!” Yun Ting knew his mother was playing that awkward video again. She showed it to many already.
He ran over trying to hit the phone, but Su Xiuling was already guarding against him. Yun Xiangxiang wanted to relent, but curiosity got the better of her. In the end, she took the phone to watch it.
He’s still little, not like he will remember it anyway. He’ll forget it soon enough. Yun Xiangxiang guffawed after she saw the video.
Yun Ting ran to the windowsill to sulk. He ignored them, seemingly as if everyone dumped him.
Yun Xiangxiang was in stitches looking at him. Song Qian and the usually stoic Ai Li laughed too.
“Let him be. He’ll be fine after five minutes. He’s a proud kid. Even if you don’t coax him, he will show up before you to see if he can make a graceful retreat.”
Su Xiuling tugged at Yun Xiangxiang who wanted to coax Yun Ting. She continued sharing her son’s embarrassing moments with her daughter. “I have him around my pinky now. He treasures his dignity. If he cries, just taking out my phone to record him will shut him up…”
Yun Xiangxiang listened to her mother regaling the details. Her smile never left her face. Even Song Qian, Ai Li, and Coco were entranced by it.
Two minutes into her mother’s stories, Yun Ting turned around once. When Yun Xiangxiang caught him, he turned to sulk again.
He turned again after a minute. Yun Xiangxiang kept a tab on him from the corner of her eyes. He turned around more and more.
Noticing nobody was coming to coax him, he trudged over himself. Everyone kept on listening to Su Xiuling’s stories.
He went in front of them with his back arched, but was still ignored. He grabbed one fruit and stuck it in Su Xiuling’s hand, “I want to eat!”
“Pfft,” Yun Xiangxiang turned around and laughed again. This little rascal is so cute.
Su Xiuling peeled it for him in a small show of respect. Yun Ting who ate the fruit afterward waved away the matter of his mother exposing his embarrassing moments.
As he lay in Su Xiuling’s lap listening to her exposing his glorious past, he had a look that said: What are you saying? I don’t get it.
They still wanted to keep on when Wang Yong took Yun Zhibin and Yun Lin back. But they needed to welcome Song Mian, so they had to prepare.
Yun Xiangxiang also had to take her theory exam around one o’clock. She only had one test today. All her time would be for her parents after that. She wanted to take them shopping.
She might be a public figure, but the gigantic Beijing had places that catered to people like them.
It was just that Yun Xiangxiang usually disliked going there. But it was not every day that her parents visited. She wanted to buy something for them.
Yun Zhibin and Yun Lin would take care of Yun Ting. Su Xiuling, Yun Xiangxiang, and Coco would help Wang Yong sort out the ingredients.
With everyone helping out, the work was done quickly. When Song Mian arrived, the aroma of the dishes was already wafting through the air.
He came slightly later since he was preparing the gift for his first meeting with his girlfriend’s parents.
Su Xiuling opened the door for him. She tended to her daughter yesterday and didn’t pay attention to Song Mian. When she saw him, even the self-proclaimed indifferent Su Xiuling was surprised. She saw many dramas, but she never saw someone so handsome.
He was not a Korean-style bishounen [1]. His features were perfect and full of energy. He had mesmerising and honest eyes.
Looks wise, at least Song Mian left a great first impression on Su Xiuling. “Xiangxiang’s boyfriend, right? Come in.”
Su Xiuling didn’t know how nasty her husband was to him last night. She greeted him empathetically to avoid awkwardness.
“Hello, Aunt Su,” Song Mian was polite. His smile was appropriate. He knew Yun Xiangxiang’s parents’ names.
“Oh, you didn’t have to bring so many things on your visit,” Su Xiuling helped him carry a few things. Song Mian brought a lot with him.
Su Xiuling wasn’t after those things, but she appreciated his thoughts. That was more important than anything else.
“They aren’t expensive things. Just some medicine brewed by the family,” Song Mian took them inside and placed them in the living room.
Yun Zhibing might have gotten over his daughter’s case, but he was still uncomfortable with Song Mian. He was no actor. He sat in the living room sternly.
“Uncle Yun.” Song Mian greeted him.
Su Xiuling was helping to put the things away. With her back to Song Mian, she secretly gave Yun Zhibin a warning.
“En,” Yun Zhibin responded reluctantly.
“Xiangxiang is helping out in the kitchen,” Su Xiuling kindly gave Song Mian a reason to retreat.
“I’ll go look for her,” Song Mian went to the kitchen as if on cue.
“Hmph,” Yun Zhibin sneered.
Su Xiuling walked over and stepped on him before going to the kitchen. When they were setting up the table, Su Xiuling chatted with Song Mian. Naturally, she tried to know more about him.
“You seem to have a lot of free time, doctor,” Yun Zhibin remarked sardonically.
“I am mainly doing academic research now. That’s why I have some free time,” Song Mian answered seriously.
“Only practice can expand your horizons. Books are rigid. Research all you want, it’s useless,” Yun Zhibin grabbed the opportunity to lecture him.
