The first thing Stephanie Ruan did when she stepped inside is to close the door shut. And then she simply stood there and watched him from afar.
Without raising his head from the document in his hands, Javier Zhong ordered in a loud voice, "Hand over your document!"
However, all that he heard in response is the familiar 'clicking' sounds from a pair of high heels.
"??!!..."
Unable to hide his stunned expression, Javier Zhong immediately looked up and saw Stephanie Ruan standing right in front of his desk.
"Not in a good mood?" She asked him with a slight smile.
Refusing to answer her question, he asked her instead, "Why did you come?"
With a soft chuckle, Stephanie Ruan turned away and took a good look at the design of his office. She is quickly attracted to a large bookshelf filled with business-related books.
Casually sliding her fingers across the books at eye level, she double-tapped on one of the books that had caught her eyes and pulled it out.
"About your offer the other day, I accept."
Turning back to face him, she added, "But forget about all those cheesy words you said, it doesn't suit you and I don't need you to protect me."
"I want to collaborate with you. Offer me your help this time, and I will make sure to return a favour to you in the future."
Strolling over to his side with the book in one hand, she probed, "How does that sound?"
"..."
Javier Zhong stood up and stared into her almond-shaped eyes for a few seconds. Though it has only been a few days of not seeing her, it felt like forever to him.
He really missed her a lot!
Needless to say, his mood has also improved drastically just by being in her presence.
"Two favours."
"??..."
Upon seeing her slightly startled expression, he gently reminded her. "The ice-cream truck."
Stephanie Ruan squinted her eyes at him with annoyance for about two seconds before plastering the same smile on her face as before. "Since I said it, I'll do it. Don't worry."
How annoying!!...
In fact, she remembered returning the money back to him on that very same day. Why is he still harping on this??...
"Petty guy. No wonder he is not taken." She muttered under her breath.
Seeing that her lips are still moving, he thought she still has something to tell him. "What did you say?"
"Nothing... Anyway, what a nice office you have!"
After which, Stephanie Ruan headed directly to the centre of the room and sat on one of the two black leather sofas.
She then started reading the book that she had removed from the shelf earlier while asking him nonchalantly, "You surely wouldn't mind having another person to share this space with you right?"
"You want to move your office here?"
If anyone were to notice Javier Zhong's eyes carefully, they would definitely spot a quick flash of excitement.
"I haven't found an office yet... but if you agree, this can be my office from today onwards."
Stephanie Ruan looked at him with a confident smile, as though she already knows that he would agree to this arrangement.
People say, "Keep your friends close, but keep your enemies even closer". Stephanie Ruan obviously understood this assignment.
"Chairman Zhong, there's really nothing much to consider about. It is not every day that you get to have such a beautiful lady to accompany you here."
She added, "Furthermore, I can help to liven your mood a little. You know, being angry often is not good for your body. Unless you wish to die early from a heart attack..."
Seeing his already convinced face, she leaned slightly forward and threw him a flirty wink. "What do you say?"
With a smirk, Javier Zhong happily agreed to it with open arms. "Sure! Three favours in total."
Despite knowing that Stephanie Ruan is here to keep an eye on him, in hopes to receive first-hand updates regarding the investigation, he is still very happy to have her around.
After all, is there a bigger joy than seeing her in front of him every day??
This arrangement is something that he definitely would not mind!
Also, as a shrewd businessman, Javier Zhong did not forget to exchange the benefit for yet another favour from her.
Because 'you never know when you will need something until you actually need it'. Have you heard of this saying before?
And who knows? He might just be able to win her heart over with these favours he painstakingly collected.
However, as good as the plan sounds, Stephanie Ruan obviously did not react very well to his response.
With her eyes widened in disbelief, she slammed the book on the table and stood up. "Javier Zhong!! Are you messing with me right now?!"
"Fine! So be it, two favours with no office space!" After which, Stephanie Ruan took her handbag and left for the door in anger.
"!!..."
Appalled by her sudden outrage, Javier Zhong immediately rushed forward to stop her from leaving.
"Alright, alright. Two favours and an office space." He hastily promised her.
Hais... this unpredictable woman might actually be the one worsening his heart condition instead...
Afraid that she would still want to leave, Javier Zhong took a few large steps forward and personally opened the door to call for Isaac Wen.
It goes without saying that the people standing outside are shocked to death when they suddenly saw the appearance of Javier Zhong.
"Isaac! Bring in the best work table for Director Ruan and put it in my office! Now!"
"Leave it to me, Chairman Zhong." With that, Isaac Wen hurriedly rallied a few employees to help with the moving of the large table.
Javier Zhong then returned to his office and looked at Stephanie Ruan who has remained unmoving at the same spot. "How is this?"
Folding her arms, she casually told him without carrying much expectation anymore. "I still have a box of my office essentials out there."

"I'll go get it for you."
