The acrid smoke curled in lazy spirals, choking the bitter cold air of the frozen battlefield.
The orc village was mostly destroyed as their building was wrecked, smoke leaving their crumbled form.
Gorrmash body lay kneeling, a grotesque sculpture of blackened flesh and ashen bone, smoldering softly where the fire had burnt away his form.
His chest heaved once, then twice, till finally it stilled, he drew his last breathe.
Adam’s eyes blink as he watched the faintest flicker stirring above the ruin, a dark ember, or orb uncoiling from the ruin of the orc’s corpse.
The black sphere rise, from the damage vessel.
The soul wavered, hesitant, as if reluctant to leave the body it had clung to for so long.
A lifetime of battle, pain, and stubborn survival, now unraveling in moments of silence.
But for the sake of survival this was the only way.
Adam’s gaze sharpen at the sight.
As the soul of the defeated moved like quickly to it’s chosen vessel.
Sliding through the frozen slashes suspended around Zhor, as it phase right through them like smoke through a crack in a door.
And invaded Zhor body right after.
The moment this happen, Zhor screech.
’Shhh... Just shut up, and let me take over.’
That was the last words Zhor heard before his entire existence turned against him. And his body began to twitch, his finger twitching and his eyes rolling till eventually.
Gorrmash inevitably took over, and his eyes popped open.
Zhor’s own presence faded, dimming into a distant echo, swallowed whole by the raging storm inside.
The dark soul solidified its hold. Consuming Zhor from within, all his memories and lore abilities now belong to Gorrmash’s as result of devouring his existence as his own, and assimilating it into his being.
Adam looked at this from afar as he said out aloud in his mind.
’Did this fucker just took over the body of another orc?’
He said inwardly suprise by the sight of such a power.
"Ha what a broken ass ability, I wonder what feat he did to get lore ability like that?"
This was indeed a good question.
One does not normally gets a power that would allow for total possession of another.
Unless they have done something truly befitting of the ability itself.
On the other hand however, as Adam watch Gorrmash, clench and unclench his hand, clearly testing his new and much more younger vessel in delight.
He began to hear a familiar voice in his head.
’...This small one doth stir a good memory in me. Thou reminds me of a king, once of the realm of man, to whom I was bound by pact. He, too, held the makings of power. He could posses the bodies of his daughters, if he were to die.’
When Adam heard this voice played out in the back of his head, he mentally called out to the familiar spirit.
Adam mentally replied, surprised by the spirit’s actions of reaching out to him .
Mordred as prideful as she is responded back in kind.
’The one and only, my dear king.’
The Unique spirit greeted Adam, it’s has been a while since they last talk after all.
He rarely heard from Mordred unless it was about something kingdom-related. As one of his three unique spirits, tied to him not just by contract, but through the Gate of Magic itself.
She operated on her own schedule.
And that schedule, much to Adam’s annoyance at times, was fixated solely on empire-building.
He frowned, a little as he could feel that was exactly what she was here for.
He mentally said with a sigh.
And quickly as he held his head already seeing where this was going.
Mordred replied to him saying as such.
’Because thou hast opened the door, to a great opportunity my king. The battlefield is blood-washed, and the orc chief is slain. The right of rule now lies with thee.’
He whispered under his breathe, he rarely uses Mordred’s power.
He has made two spells with her aid but those spells were spells that were more for analyzing than for combat or defense purposes.
But she was not without uses Priscilla once said, she will teach him how to uses his unique, great, and divine Spirit once she set things up.
But for now he was ordered to put them aside to focus on other things during his training.
On the other hand Mordred began to speak, once more.
"And more importantly... is thou art not ready to test the Lore ability Priscilla warned thee of. The one thou claimed from the Nekowolves mission ye completed. The one thou feared using, giving what it does."
Adam’s jaw tightened as his eyes flicked back toward Gorrmash, now comfortably rolling his new shoulders as if the body had always been his.
Completely unaware Adam knows that it is him.
’You mean that fucked-up Lore ability I got for saving the village? Well yeah she really wants to see me use, and just so we are clear I am not afraid of using it. I was afraid of using it on Minerva when she offered herself as a subject for my expirment. Keep in mind if you will is weaker than mines, it’s permanent and irreversible thing. Of course I was not going to use this new power of mine on someone I care deeply about.’
Mordred did not care for the reason, but that power would be a good power to rule with an iron fist.
She said, cheerfully unbothered.
’But wouldst thou rather leave this ruin to rot, or make of it a beginning? Thou hast claimed it rightfully you know.’
Said Mordred as her tone deepened into that subtle one.
’Remember: I serve only kings and emperors. Claiming this village, this stain of despair, and forging from it something worthy, will strengthen the pact between us. My power... shall awaken even more. I am not in the spirit world were I can use the full extent of my power. This lesser world weaken spirits. As our spiritual body is not our true form. This is only spiritual avatar we spirit’s use to serve our contractor.’
But he does get the point.. unique spirits and up who encompasses the deeper layers of the spirit world in their true forms.
Existing in transcendental state of being over all things, uses spirit avatars to communicate and lend their attribute to their contractors.
Given element spirits inhabits the accessable layers, of the spirit world which is a permitted zone in the higher plane.
Beyond deeper layers are stronger spirit’s. But since she is in her spirit avatar.
Her power, and aid is limited im the lesser world.
’Hehehe... I hear it everytime from you, but let me humor the idea, say I take over the village, will I get more of your power if I play house with monsters and pretend to be a king?’
’Yes, if you do this I can finally start teaching you some spells. I am still very weak here, and these actions will empower me greatly.’
Adam groaned as he thinks about it. Realistically all he care about is the formation of his harem.
But being a king doesn’t sound too bad at all. But his ultimate goal is to become a warlock and transcend this world altogther with his wives by his side.
As such his gaze lingered on the ruined village. The bloody snow. The charred bones. The burning and freezing huts, and trees meet his eye.
But as he thinks he reaches a decision.
"I will bite... Let’s see what this new Lore can do...
With that in mind he looked at Zhor.
As he raised his hands, as a result the multiple flaming slashes that were paused all around him cease to exist at mere gesture of his hands.
Meanwhile Priscilla floated behind his back, as he he fly towards the orc, and watch as he got up from the ground giving him a hateful glare.
’Tshh... Gorr will play stupid for now, and accept you as leader, when your not watching and leave me be. I shall make me escape, and report back to mother.’
’With her help, I am sure we can defeat this monster.’
Gorrmash said to himself, as he was already planning his escape.
Sometimes you have to kiss ass to reach were one needs to be, and for that he has no problem setting his demonic pride aside for this.
He knows as he is, he cannot kill muchless beat Adam. This kid was too much for him to handle.
For that reason he bent the knee and said.
"Please don’t kill me, Gor... I mean Zhor... I surrenders, Zhor surrenders. You new chief now since you kill and beat Gorrmash, I submit, I submit. It’s is orc laws to to bend the knee to the one who bested the cheiftman in combat."
