Harry Potter: The Planewalker Chapter 67

Christian noticed that Voldemort evaded his Sectumsempra Spell instead of blocking it. Christian knew the Dark Lord was more than capable of blocking his little attack. 'Maybe he did not know the spells and decided to evade instead of blocking. It's a wise move if he did not know for sure whether his shield could defend against this unknown spell.' Christian's eyes lit up. This was an important mindset to learn. That Dark Fog Curse would not have injured him if he had such a mindset. He considered this battle a learning experience. His next thought was on the Killing Curse. This spell was interesting, as anyone could use it. An example of this was Crabbe and Goyle, whose magic talent, ability, and skills were subpar, but they could still use the curse in the books. However, for the Killing Curse to be effective, it requires a great deal of [Intent]. The caster's mind must be filled with immense rage and a desire to kill. Voldemort was skillful in this spell due to his lack of remorse or disregard for human life. To use the spell in this fight, Christian spent days meditating and brewing his emotions to show Voldemort he could skillfully use it. This approach lessened the burden on his mind afterward, but he still did not like the feeling of using dark magic. After this fight, he realized his greatest weakness was his lack of nonverbal skills. His enemy did not need any incantations while he did. "That's not really my fault, is it?" muttered Christian. His situation was rare; his magical ability was limited due to the imbalance between his mind and body. Otherwise, nonverbal magic would have been much more straightforward to him. The last thing he realizes is Voldemort's [Aura of Fear] was due to his soul since he's using Quirrell's body. Additionally, he might have a similar ability because he swallowed Jim's soul. Christian remembered the shock and feared that Aunt Eleanor had displayed when he lost control and yelled at her. 'Do I need to start regulating my emotions? Always be calm, like Professor Dumbledore. That sounds exhausting.' Christian grunted before taking out his journal and updating Entry 4; he added his theory that once the soul becomes sufficiently powerful, it will develop its own [Aura of Suppression/Fear]. He also speculated that it might develop other abilities, and this level of strength is either one of the prerequisites to become a wizard on par with Dumbledore/Voldemort/Grindelwald or something that will occur once a person achieves that level. Then, Christian wrote a new entry: [Entry 32: Variation of Shield Magic] [This terrible defeat has taught me the importance of Shield Charm and the need for variety. The Unforgivable Curses are not the only spells that break or bypass a Shield Charm. (not mentioning forcefully breaking them)] [After this fight, I realized I needed to develop a variety of Shield Charms: one for curses, one for charms, one for Transfiguration, and one for physical attacks or fast-moving objects.] [I once thought of Conjuring slimes or a gel-like substance, and covering myself before using the Hardening Charm to form a rock-like armor/shield. I should create a spell that accomplishes this in one spell or find an existing one. The headmaster promised to teach me Elemental magic, and he might know of such a charm.] [Shield Charms can be intricate and complex. For example, Protego Diabolica is a shield charm that "protects" its user from betrayal. Meanwhile, Occlumency is a shield that "protects" the mind, and the Patronus Charm protects from evil or vile creatures.] [By that logic, it's possible to create shields that "protect" my body and soul. (More proof that the Anti-Charm for the Killing Curse is possible.) And if the Killing Curse does not attack the soul but directly involves "Death Magic," then I should be able to create a shield that "protects" me from death itself.] [The Protego Diabolica Charm is interesting because its nature suggests the offensive nature of Shield Charms. To be fair, the ability to rebound spells also proves this. With that concept, shielding spells can be very varied.] [For example, a shield that can move with great speed to hit the enemy. If the shield can contain spikes, it can serve as a weapon to pierce the enemy. Such a shield might be more useful for melee-based opponents.] [There could be a Shrinking Shield that crushes people after being enveloped or catches/restrains them. Shields that absorb kinetic energy and store it for later release.] [Elemental Shields, like Fire or Ice Shields, can defend while burning or freezing enemies or attacks. Finally, there is Space Shield. If I can isolate myself from the world and exist in another dimension, almost no attacks would be capable of reaching me.] After finishing this entry, Christian felt slightly at peace. He knew his magical journey had a long way to go. He was just starting, and despite the many accomplishments and praises, he knew how weak he was after that devastating defeat at Quirrell/Dark Lord's hand. Christian then took a piece of paper and hesitated for a moment. Then, he gritted his teeth and wrote. He wanted to ask Quirrell whether dark magic could be used to heal. Logically speaking, that should be impossible, as dark magic only destroys, and healing involves the domain of creation. However, in Taoist philosophies, Absolute Yin cannot exist without a little Yang. So, maybe there are healing methods in the dark arts. Furthermore, this letter was a perfect opportunity to ensure his previous plan worked and strengthen their "bond." Christian left the room for the Owl Post to find Sango. He had to force himself to walk correctly and not limp so as not to reveal his leg injuries. Additionally, he kept casting Hominem Revelio nonverbally to ensure no invisible people were following him. After sending the letter, he tossed the Slytherin student's wand in the corridor before returning to the Gryffindor common room. "I'm not stupid. Don't call me stupid," Neville said in a raised voice before walking away. "Is everything alright?" asked Christian, who had just walked from the portrait hole. "T-they're angry because Harry and I lost the house 100 points. I understand why they're angry, but someone called me stupid." "Don't mind them. Besides Hufflepuffs, all houses have no real loyalty. They will celebrate when you bring them joy and victory, but they will also turn on you once you anger or make them suffer," said Christian casually, not minding that others heard what he said. He patted Neville on the shoulder, "I'm proud you can stand up for yourself." Neville smiled embarrassedly, "Thank you." Ever since he began meditating, he has found himself to be more confident. Even when Snape started to be a jerk to him again, he did not cry. Christian walked to the table where his friends were. "What's wrong with you guys? You look distraught." "Volde… You-Know-Who was drinking Unicorn Blood to revive himself, and someone was fighting with him." Christian pretended to be shocked and looked at the others, "Is he okay?" "He's telling the truth," said Ron, and they began telling what happened during their detention in the Forbidden Forest. Hagrid wanted their help because someone had been killing unicorns. Then, they heard fighting sounds, followed by a raging flame, and rushed over. But they only found a dead unicorn. "Drinking unicorn blood is a terrible thing," commented Christian. "That's what Firenze said," nodded Harry. "We need to stop Snape from getting the stone for You-Know-Who." "You're right," nodded Christian, and the group discussed possible plans. Christian was quiet, lost in his thoughts. "Are you alright?" suddenly asked Hermione. "You've been distracted the past few weeks; today, even your face looked paler than normal." "No, she's right, mate. You don't look too good," said Ron. "I have a lot on my plate, and the stress is getting to me." "That's what you get for taking two extra classes; I don't get why you want to learn so much. Couldn't you just wait until you're in the third year?" Christian did not explain. Arithmancy and Ancient Runes were the two classes where he was learning new things. Charm and Transfiguration were about making up for his lack of magical theory and understanding. Herbology and Care for Magical Creatures was more about the hands-on process since he had read and memorized all the books. Potion Class was about the deeper analysis and understanding of potions and their materials, as he was more than capable of brewing the more basic potions. "Let's not talk about this. I think I will lie down," Christian said before leaving for his room. He was in pain, and his mind was still calming down after using the Killing Curse. "Now you've upset him," said Hermione. "He's not upset. If he were, we would know," rebutted Ron.
