I woke up to the smell of hot chocolate, "good morning sunshine," Jade greeted sweetly, holding a tray of food, "I made breakfast," he said in a sing-song voice. "what time is it?" I asked huskily "9.02" he replied "why didn't you wake me up earlier? I would have helped in making breakfast," I said sitting up. "you were really tired, I didn't want to disturb you, and I enjoyed watching you sleep, you look cute when those big eyes are not open," he said. "And now?" I asked "you look terrible with your unwashed face and tangled hair, one more thing, you are a very terrible sleeper, you snore, you mumbled gibberish and my body is sore because one way or the other, I may have turned into a punching bag. You were kicking and thrashing all night, I would have slept on the couch but your snore was enough to make someone go man"
"wow, that is the most cruel thing a person has ever said to me, coming from my boyfriend, it is so heart wrenching," I said pouting. "come on, I was just pulling your leg, don't be mad at me, please… I promise to feed you if you forgive me," he said
"Everything on that tray?" I asked
"everything on the tray," he replied. After having breakfast and freshening up, I went up to the top of the yatch and stood behind the rails, enjoying the view. The water was not that clear but I could spot out one or two fish swimming lazily, the view before me was so peaceful and surreal, I took out my phone and took few pictures of my environment. I was taking a selfie when Jade came and hugged me from behind and lifted me up above the rails, "put me down! put me down!" I screamed in fright and he brought me down. "What did you do that for?" I asked punching his shoulder."Take a look at this, you look so pretty when you are scared," he said showing me a picture on his phone. so not only did he scare the wit out of me, he took a picture of me screaming in fear, "I look really awful in that picture, delete it immediately," I told him. "you really mean I can keep this? thank you, thank you, I'll print it as soon as we get home" he said and ran down to the cabin. "Jade? come back here and delete that picture," I shouted and ran out after him.
We sat in the living room, watching TV and eating apple slices and peanut butter.
"Jade?"
"yes honey"
"I won't lie, I'm really enjoying myself here but I miss Juliet, when are we going back?" I asked "in few hours, I miss my little angel too," he said. "come on, let's go upstairs, the view of the Sea is better up there," he said
"as long as you don't pull that stunt again," I told him. "I promise," he said and we went back to the deck. I went back to the place I stood before and he stood hugging me from behind, I stood there wrapping my hands around his on my chest, "close your eyes and enjoy the morning breeze," he whispered and I closed my eyes, I felt calm and safe at that moment. I was living in the moment until I heard the shuttering sound camera, I opened my eyes to see Scott taking our pictures "Scott, what do you think you are doing?" I asked using my hand to block the camera, "relax, I asked him to do it. I want to remember this moment," Jade said and I breathe out in relief. "Why were you so jumpy?" Jade asked, "I don't know… maybe that Scott was selling pictures of us together to the media," I replied. "WHAT!!!" Jade and Scott exclaimed in unison. "You don't have to worry about that, Miss Udofia, I would never do a despicable thing like that," Scott said.
"ok then, can I see the picture please?" I asked
He handed the camera to me, "I must say Miss Udofia, both of you look so good together, you two look like you are so much in love, look how you two hold each other, it is so beautiful"
"that's because we are, she is indeed a beautiful woman, and I'm proud to have her as mine," Jade said
My heart swelled with joy, was Jade indirectly confessing that he loved me?
Our car was waiting for us when we reached the dork, "I can't wait to see Juliet," I said excitedly "you've only been away from her for a night," Jade said. "I know but it feels like I've been away from her for months" I said, Juliet was seating on the steps of the porch, waiting for us, " mommy, mommy, mommy," she sang and ran to me. "Oh my little angel, I've missed you so much," I said as I went on my knees, hugging her "you said you were coming back last night," she said. "yes I thought so, but your daddy won't let me," I said and she giggled, "oh hey daddy," Juliet said and turned her attention to me "why won't he let you leave?" she asked
"Turns out your daddy is afraid of the dark," I said as we went in
"hahaha, I don't believe it, my daddy? Afraid of the dark? Even I am not afraid of the dark," Juliet said
"come, let me show you the pictures we took," I said and brought out my phone, Scott had transferred the pictures to my phone and I even used one as my wallpaper. Juliet and I were going through the pictures when Jade spoke out
"You know I really don't understand something"
"shhhh!!!" Juliet and I said to him
"don't shush me, what kind of spell did you cast on my daughter? Never in her life has she chose someone else over me, but now, she's all over you and the only thing I got is 'oh hey daddy'. I need to know what you have done to my Juliet so that I can find a way to break the spell," Jade said
"It's no spell daddy, I've been with you for 5 years, I want to enjoy sometime with my mommy, I'm sure you understand, and besides, Mommy UK understands me a bit better than you do," Juliet answered
"that's not true, you are my daughter and I understand you very well" Jade told her
"really? if that is the case then tell me what has changed in my appearance?" she asked
"let me see... your hair looks a bit short," he replied
"are you just noticing that now? mommy UK trimmed my hair before my birthday. see what I'm talking about? how about you Mommy UK? what have you noticed?"
"it obvious, you have a missing tooth," I answered shrugging, I noticed it when she came to hug me.
"oh yeah, a missing tooth, I guess you are right, there are quite some things that have changed with in you and I've been too busy with work to notice,"
"well... while you guys continue debating, I need to go and rest, I've had enough fun to last me a year and I need to have a chat with my sister," I said and left to my room.
I changed into a maxi polo and joggers, tied my hair in a loose ponytail and laid on my bed, dialing my sister's number, but she didn't pick, I called the second time and still no response. I logged into the university's website to check for any update, we were expected to be in school Thursday and Friday for course registration and other things to prepare us for full resumption on Monday. Few minutes later, my sister sent an SMS that she was busy and would call me when she was done with what she was doing. I took my novel to continue reading but my mind kept drifting away to what happened on the yacht, I picked up my diary and wrote "dear diary, I think Jade is really in love with me, I can't wait for the day he'll say it out"
