Wang Kai’s complexion was a sight to behold, changing again and again. After a while, Fang Yi couldn’t help but utter a reminder, "Hmm!"
"Sir, you called me." Wang Kai snapped back to reality, his face now full of smiles, and he made an inviting gesture, "Gentlemen, you can go and look around the supermarket if you like, I guarantee I won’t disturb you."
Fang Yi said, "I’m sorry, we have decided we don’t want to go in now."
Since they already had a fall guy like you, why the hell should I go in? What if you decide to accuse me of tampering with evidence and framing me later? Wouldn’t that be walking right into a trap?
So, Fang Yi resolutely refused to go in.
Wang Kai thought to himself, this kid is pretty clever, but then he thought about it, he’d have to be an idiot not to be clever, wouldn’t he? How else could he set a trap for me?
Kong Linghai was watching from the side with a smile. He had never seen someone as interesting as Fang Yi and spoke up, "Deputy Director Wang, I heard everything you said just now."
Wang Kai’s heart lurched, realizing they weren’t going to let him off the hook.
Kong Qingci slowly took out her mobile phone and said indifferently, "I’ve recorded it."
Wang Kai’s mouth twitched, his face turning pale. They were going for total annihilation.
Fang Yi, adamant about not going in, said, "Mr. Kong, how about we have lunch together today?"
Kong Linghai shook his head with a smile, "No, I have other business." He had come today mainly out of respect for Kong Qingci, to show some force. Having achieved his goal and not being acquainted with Fang Yi, he naturally did not intend to stay.
Fang Yi, understanding he shouldn’t press further, turned to Kong Qingci, only to see her smile, "Forget it, I’m also busy."
Fang Yi complained, "Miss Kong, that’s not giving me much face."
Kong Qingci said, "I really have things to do. Some other time, when I’m free, you can invite me then."
With the conversation having reached this point, Fang Yi had no choice but to drop the matter.
The two left in a car with a municipal committee license plate, and Fang Yi returned to Shen Binnan.
"I think you’re becoming more and more mysterious," Shen Binnan said. She had never met Kong Qingci, but she had heard of her, and she hadn’t expected Fang Yi to know the daughter of the Kong Family or that he could even invite her to help.
It seemed she, the CEO, was quite useless by comparison.
Fang Yi smiled, "Are you starting to feel a sense of admiration and want to bow down in worship of me?" His slyness was showing again.
Shen Binnan kept a straight face, "Don’t make me doubt you the moment I start to think better of you."
Fang Yi gave a bitter smile, then glanced over at Wang Kai and Mo Fengkuang, finally fixing his gaze on Mo Fengkuang.
Mo Fengkuang was avoiding Fang Yi’s gaze. Neck outstretched, he said fiercely, "What are you looking at?" His tone was clearly lacking confidence.
Fang Yi said, "I’m just looking at a piece of trash."
Mo Fengkuang’s face immediately turned an ashen hue.
"Go back and tell Ren Hao, if he’s got the guts, he should confront me openly, not resort to these underhanded schemes. Don’t think he’s the only one who can play these games; I can too."
After saying this, Fang Yi said no more and then extended his hand to Shen Binnan in an inviting gesture.
"What for?" Shen Binnan asked.
"Please take me to eat," Fang Yi said earnestly, "I’m hungry."
Shen Binnan stared at him and coldly spat out three words, "Eat you to death." She said this through gritted teeth.
Mo Fengkuang hastily left, needing to report back to his superiors. He soon arrived at a luxurious villa, and as the villa’s security recognized him, Mo Fengkuang encountered no obstacles.
By the time Mo Fengkuang reached the villa’s ground floor lobby, he heard laughter and chatter coming from upstairs, both men and women. Then, he saw a woman in a bikini running down from upstairs, igniting a burst of fire in Mo Fengkuang’s heart, momentarily causing him to forget why he’d come.
"Fengkuang," a voice rang out from upstairs at that moment.
Mo Fengkuang quickly snapped back to reality, a smile on his face as he said, "Young Master Ren."
Ren Hao was dressed in pajamas, appearing in good spirits as he sat on the couch. With a casual "make yourself at home" from Ren Hao, Mo Fengkuang dared not take a seat.
Ren Hao noticed this and jokingly said, "What, Fengkuang, did something go wrong?" But he knew that with his father involved, this twin-strike strategy couldn’t possibly have any issues.
Mo Fengkuang spoke softly, "Please, Young Master Ren, punish me."
Ren Hao’s expression turned solemn, his voice suddenly cold, "Did you really mess up?"
Mo Fengkuang immediately explained the situation, and as Ren Hao listened, his expression grew darker and darker, like water about to burst its banks at any moment.
"So," Ren Hao said, "this Fang Yi really does have some clout, even managing to call out Kong Qingci’s third uncle. He’s indeed not easy to deal with." Ren Hao wasn’t unreasonable and said, "Fengkuang, don’t blame yourself for this."
Mo Fengkuang tentatively asked, "Young Master Ren, should we tell the Old Master about this?"
Ren Hao shook his head, "No need, my dad has already strategized for me. If I can’t handle even this, it would be quite embarrassing. Since Manager can’t handle it, let’s have the press take care of it."
Mo Fengkuang was puzzled but listened intently to what Ren Hao had to say next.
Meanwhile, Fang Yi and Shen Binnan had finished their meal, which they shared with the OL they had called upon. It was only then Fang Yi learned she was the head of corporate management, her surname Zuo, and her name Zuo Ruzhi.
After having dinner together, the three hurried off to the hospital, their biggest concern being the patients lying there. They hoped no more incidents would occur, as another accident would become a real thorn in their side.
However, just as the three of them returned to the hospital, a group of journalists rushed over and quickly surrounded them.
"Director Shen, may I ask for your thoughts on the recent poisoning incident?"
"Regarding this incident with the Longtu Group’s chain stores..."
"Is the food poisoning confirmed? Will other chain stores encounter the same issue as well..."
"Director Shen, please give us an explanation, Director Shen..."
The reporters were all talking at once, each seemingly desperate to pry Shen Binnan’s mouth open to get her to answer. Of course, Shen Binnan wasn’t going to answer any questions, since there were designated people to handle the issue.
Yet the journalists were blocking the way, making it impossible to leave, and a few reporters lunged at Shen Binnan, including some male reporters with sleazy looks in their eyes that didn’t seem focused on interviewing but rather on groping.
Damn it, I haven’t even touched her yet, so how could I let you do it! Fang Yi immediately grabbed the collar of one male reporter, lifting him up to find a lecherous expression on the man’s face.
"What... what are you doing? Let me go!" The sleazy male reporter began shouting frantically, attracting the attention of many other journalists around.
Fang Yi sneered, "You trying to cop a feel?"
Caught in the act, the sleazy reporter immediately yelled, "No!"
Fang Yi didn’t bother to argue and just tossed him to the ground. Then, Fang Yi overheard two female reporters whispering to each other.
"Hey, this is good news."
"Yeah, ’Sleazy male reporter tries to grope Longtu Group’s female CEO and gets knocked to the ground by a muscular man.’"
Fang Yi felt embarrassed as he thought, How could I possibly seem muscular with a clean and refined face ? And when did I ever hit anyone?
In this world, journalists have the strongest ability to fabricate and misinterpret stories. Fang Yi no longer wanted to entangle with these journalists and grabbed Shen Binnan’s hand, then charged into the hospital using his body as a shield.
