**ANNABELLE**
The fear of hurting him both physically and emotionally made me rethink pushing his weight off me. He's injured hence the physical aspect and he's obviously in depth with the kiss hence the latter.
I resorted to the other option, doing nothing. I let my lips get kissed by his for nearly a minute before it clearly registered in his brain that I wasn't going to kiss him back anytime soon. He pulled away softly looking apologetic.
"Annabelle, I...."
I sighed and got off the bed adjusting my clothing.
"I'm so sorry. I got carried away."
"No, I shouldn't have jumped on you like that. It's fine. You were just excited to be alive. I am too."
"Can I ask if you wanted to or enjoyed it at the very least."
"Richard...."
I paused and sighed again.
"Rest so you can get well soon. I'll go see the doctor and ask him a few questions. I'll be back."
He looked dejected watching me leave. I can't answer that question right now. I can't lie to him either. I am happy he is well and all but going further than that to seek for an opening, I'm not ready. I'm still healing and to be honest, I'm not sure that wound can ever be covered.
"Good evening Sir."
I greeted the doctor.
"Hi, how may I help you."
"Umm, I just wanted to ask how the detective is doing?"
"Oh are you his wife?"
"No, no, no. Just a very close friend."
"Oh. Alright then. The detective's going to be okay. The other men who were close to the blast were not so lucky. He on the other hand should be thankful."
"Thank you doc. I can breathe easy now."
I exhaled smiling at him before taking my leave.
"The doctor says you'll be fine."
I announced entering the room to meet him trying to stand up
"Richard! You need to rest."
"The bastard got away. He kills more than six officers and still gets away!"
He spat out clearly furious.
"I understand you're angry. I might not understand the loss but I do get the feeling of not being able to anything but making rash decisions will only make it worse. You need rest so please get some."
My hands were on his shoulders pushing him back to bed.
"You'll get the scum and whoever is involved. Just rest. Please."
I practically begged. He gave a weak nod before gently complying.
"I have to go now. I'll come see you tomorrow. Just try and rest. Everything will be fine."
I reassured scoffing at myself. I got used to listening to those lies.
He squeezed my hands before shutting his eyes and I turned around to leave
"The case turned out to be more interesting than I thought. I still haven't told him about the paper I found."
Sighing, I shut the door behind me and walked out of the hospital.
"Fuck no!"
I yelled staring at my purse.
"Damn!"
I groaned remembering I didn't request for my chance from the cab man. I didn't take any of my credit cards. I just took cash which would be enough to go and come back. Due to my anxiousness, I forget to collect my change.
"Fuck!"
Walking would be half an hour or more. I'm stranded and I have no other fucking choice. I took off my shoes, broke the heels and started walking.

I checked my watch and more than thirty minutes had past. My calculations were wrong and my feets were soiled.
Luckily, I was close to the office and hopefully the janitors would still be available so I can access my office and get some stashed cash.
"Finally!"
I yelled in excitement to see the place still open. I took the elevator straight to my office. I would be taking another long bath to cool my legs.
"Anna....."
Only one person calls me that. I looked behind me and Fallon was in my chair.
"What are you still doing here at this hour and in my office!"
I roared folding my arms.
"I don't want to go yet. I've been working."
He croaked out.
"I'll just take some money and leave."
"Why? What happened."
"Ugh!"
I groaned in frustration.
"Well...it's not like it's any of your concern but seeing I'm really tensed and I need to vent out I'll just tell you. Richard got hurt so I rushed out leaving my cars and card and got to the hospital forgetting change. I had to walk and now I'm here."
"How's Richard?"
He asked making me roll my eyes.
"Surprised you care but he's fine. He will be fine but I really don't know how the hell I'm going to face him. I'll be the biggest coward on earth to ignore the kiss."
I heaved a sigh and faced him feeling a little better after letting it all out.
"The what...."
He stuttered and my last words repeated in my head.
"I blurted the kiss out. Stupid! Stupid!"
I scolded myself. I went rigid before Fallon who only glared at me clearly mad for some reason.
