The next day, my journey to learn the runes began. Mother reached me with full passion but that was the time i realized that I am dumb.
It felt like I was back to old days when I was learning in school, whatever the teachers were teaching nothing was going inside my head, but maybe this was due to runes being a completely new language for me.
But with time, it fairly became easier.
From learning to pronounce the runes alphabetically to writing them on a piece of paper, it was tough as fuck.
My little hand weren't enough to even held the brush, much less write a complete rune.
Just a single error and the whole rune was useless. But during this time, I learned one thing and that was... runes doesn't just have the properties of amplifying, but they can create as well.
It was after a month of me starting to learn the runes that I got to know that when Eleanor made me write the word water in runic language and even without a single drop of mana that piece of paper where rune was written turned into water, it wasn't much just barely a litres.
She obviously did praise me. And that was the moment I realized that runes weren't simple, not at all.
And after 6 months of learning runes, I became a basic rune master. It was similar to rank 1 mage, I became a rank 1 rune master, low tier.
When Eleanor revealed to me about the original runes and that they are actually the language of Gods, I asked Zixane about it but she told me she had no idea about that.
She knew about the runes, but she didn't know that they were the language of Gods.
I assumed that she must be lying to me, hiding the complete truth, but then I thought maybe not.
Just because the runes are called language of Gods, doesn't mean that is necessarily true for all.
She did mentioned to me that she was a demon queen before and then became a God, so maybe the runes are the language used by the gods before she became one?
That was the most I could deduce.
But it wasn't something that was necessary for me to know right now, so I shifted my focus to just learning the runes.
Currently, i was in the midst of practising the runes and a certain someone has been watching me with curiosity for a very long time.
It wasn't Eleanor but Setsuna. Mother actually went out to pick Ayesha as it happens to be my birthday today, I became a year old.
"Have you been practicing runes all this time, young master?" Setsuna asked me.
It wasn't something that should be hidden from everyone else, but nobody beside me and Mother knew about me learning runes.
"Yes." I answered to her.
She looked carefully at the rune that I was writing and said, "Are you practising the rune of fire?"
I was surprised. She was indeed correct, after the rune of water, Mother tasked me to write a rune of fire, which was actually the hardest one among the basic elemental runes.
"Do you know about runes too, Setsuna?"
I asked, I never knew she had knowledge of the runes before.
"A bit." Her response was short.
But she then continued again,
"You are doing great, coward. Learning the runes from such a little age."
There is goes again, calling me coward. Even though, she has told me that she calls me that because I remind her of her brother, but I always feel like she knows.
I wanted to tell her the truth, but I feel like I shouldn't. The past me is dead and there is no point in holding onto that character anymore. Even if I want to build a new really with her, I should do that as the current me.
I accepted that life to live as a demon was just because of what I had gone through, if you ask me if I enjoyed that, then... I cannot give a definitive answer.
And if you ask me 'how about now?', then this life is better.
Without even realising it, my character was changing.
Inside the domain.
Zixane was lying on the bed, her arms stretched and her right knee bend.
Her open black hair covered the pillow that her head was resting on and her deep raven like eyes closed.
She arched her back, her slender waist curved and the two mounds on her chest jiggled with their weight.
She slowly opened her eyes and shook her head.
Zixane's P.O.V.
Oh my dear husband. It seems her plan is working well. The once feared demon king now wants to live a peaceful life.
But I wonder, how long will he remain like that? Once he gets back his memories, will he remain the same?
He was cruel as the demon king, but if he becomes like him from the past when he used to be my husband, will this world even be enough for him?
He played with the gods, fooled the entire world and was the master manipulator behind the war for supremacy, millions of souls fallen in that world, and all for what? Just for him to reign supreme.
Haaa... husband~
She began to tremble, her face getting flushed, her eyes clouded. The memories of past resurfaced again and she couldn't help but yearn for that touch again... the touch of her man.
She had the urge to feel that again, the emotion that turned her from a dominant demon queen to wife of the demon clown.
