Gao Yang snapped his fingers,
“Lin Xian, all you have to do is go back into the dream to revalidate! See if the girl looks like anyone you know in reality!”
“Are you a repeating machine that traveled here from five minutes ago?” Lin Xian said, exasperated.
Doctor Liu nodded at Gao Yang with a smile,
“You understand perfectly.”
“If we dream about a person, A, in a dream, and this A actually exists in reality, all we need to do is compare the behaviors, analyze the rationality of the character’s actions, and we can immediately determine that the dream is false.”
“It’s not a difficult task. Gao Yang, when you go back, you can help Lin Xian validate this matter. I believe Lin Xian’s heart demon will be cured very soon.”
Gao Yang patted Lin Xian on the shoulder and chuckled,
“Bro, even though I kind of hope your dream is real… if this can completely rid you of your inner demons and stop you from being crazed all the time, that’ll be a good thing.”
After a brief chat, Lin Xian and Gao Yang left Doctor Liu’s place.
“How about it, Lin Xian? Was that 3,000 Yuan well spent?”
After they left, Gao Yang smiled smugly,
“I told you he was an expert! We fumbled around without finding a convincing method of validation… Doctor Liu nailed your problem in no time!”
Lin Xian smiled helplessly,
“Hard to say, I can only remark that it’s so easy to make money off of rich people.”
Gao Yang glanced at his newly purchased Longines watch,
“Come on, let’s go grab some food and chat while we eat.”
The two left the villa.
Took a cab to a barbecue restaurant they frequented.
They casually ordered some skewers and beer and sat down to eat.
A few drinks in, they started to feel the warmth spreading in their bodies.
Gao Yang prattled on about the bizarre customer he encountered while selling his car today, while Lin Xian picked at the dishes, pondering how to unmask CC.
He actually had many ways to deal with CC.
He was confident about that.
The prerequisite was not to bring along Big Face Cat, that liability of a teammate!
With this guy, who was good for nothing and prone to spoiling things… any perfect plan could be ruined.
“I need to find a way to ditch Big Face Cat…”
Lin Xian took a bite of lamb skewer, but couldn’t think of any way to ditch Big Face Cat.
Gao Yang’s shout pulled Lin Xian back to reality,
“Why are you yelling so loudly?”
Gao Yang, dissatisfied, pointed at Lin Xian with a piece of tofu fish,
“Are you even listening to me when I speak?”
“I said! It’s just two months until the Lunar New Year, and next year marks our fifth high school reunion. Shouldn’t we organize a class reunion? After all, everyone has graduated from college, and it’s been years since we last met.”
Lin Xian picked up his chopsticks and fiddled with some peanuts.
He had indeed been preoccupied with considering how to take off CC’s mask and hadn’t listened to Gao Yang,
“As the class leader, you decide,” they said.
Although Gao Yang’s academic performance was not great,
he had a knack for social interaction, was enthusiastic, and loved to help people. This made him popular in the class and highly respected; he was almost unanimously elected class leader for all three years of high school.
To give credit where it’s due, Gao Yang was probably truly a managerial talent. He did a remarkable job as the class leader over those three years, which all the classmates saw. Everyone listened to him and supported his work.
“I wonder if everyone is willing to come…”
Gao Yang said, rubbing his belly:
“In the novels, they always say class reunions are where those who haven’t done well feel embarrassed to come, and those who have done well come to show off. Then someone like Dragon King Asura Chen Beixuan arrives to smack them down, ending in an unhappy departure.”
“These past five years, I haven’t seen our old classmates, so I’m not sure how well they’re doing. Regardless, they must be doing better than me, haha! Here I am, just a lousy car salesman at a 4S shop, daring to organize a reunion… Surely no one will feel too embarrassed to come, right?”
Lin Xian chewed on his lamb skewer:
“Who knows? It’s unpredictable.”
“If we’re going by how we were in high school, we probably wouldn’t see any Dragon King Asura Chen Beixuan-like drama… But it’s been five years since we last met, who knows what changes society might have wrought upon us?”
“If you really want to organize it, just go ahead. However many people can come, that’s how many will come. I’ll definitely be there to support you.”
Lin Xian took a sip of beer, looking at Gao Yang:
“Actually, the trickiest part is… do you have everyone’s WeChat? How are you going to notify everyone?”
“QQ group, you old fossil!”
Gao Yang said with a disdainful look:
“How long have you been working that you’ve already ditched QQ? Our high school class has a group chat! Though it’s been years since anyone talked in it.”
“Oh, I really haven’t logged in for quite a while.”
Lin Xian went back to snacking on the skewers.
In university, he still used QQ from time to time.
But after graduation and starting work, he truly hadn’t logged in once, and didn’t even have the QQ app downloaded on his phone.
“Haha, speaking of QQ, Lin Xian, it reminds me of your show-off past,” Gao Yang said, putting down his beer glass and wiping the foam from his mouth, laughing.
“Wasn’t it back in elementary school? Everyone had just started getting into QQ, and everyone had 9-digit QQ numbers, all thinking about getting a sun icon early so they could use a custom avatar.”
“But not you! You somehow got an 8-digit QQ number with a sun icon already! You changed your avatar daily, showing off like nobody’s business! Back then, I kept chasing you to find out where you got that 8-digit QQ number, and you wouldn’t tell me for the life of you!”
Reminded of the past, Lin Xian couldn’t help but laugh as well.
Gao Yang wouldn’t remember if he hadn’t mentioned it.
“That was from my cousin back in my hometown.”
Lin Xian said as he took a bite of fish tofu:
“When he came to visit, he gave me one of his spare QQ mini accounts.”
“That generation started using QQ much earlier. Back then, you could apply and get seven or eight-digit QQ numbers easily, and there were even some with six digits.”
Lin Xian had a deep impression of that cousin from his hometown.
Seemed like he was some sort of noble family head in the emo subculture, his QQ space was damn cool, full of emo special effects.
Although Lin Xian hadn’t caught the last bus of the emo trend,
back then, this 8-digit QQ number had indeed made him the talk of the town among his peers—an unmatched status symbol, truly—
Lin Xian slammed his glass onto the table, foam flying everywhere.
“Lin Xian, are you out of your mind?” Gao Yang teleported to the side, shaking the foam off his clothes, glaring at Lin Xian!
However, Lin Xian wasn’t paying him any attention.
As he watched the foam dissipating in his glass, a realization dawned on him.
Eight digits… number…
He thought of the eight number dials on the safe.
