“Who said it’s just the two of us?”
Lin Xian looked at CC with a smile and pointed to the motorcycle behind him:
“Where to?” CC was puzzled.
“Taking you to meet our boss.”
After mastering the throttle, Lin Xian started the motorcycle with one kick and turned his head to look at CC:
“Just follow my lead later, do whatever I tell you to do.”
“What exactly do I have to do?”
“Hmm… actually, you don’t really need to do anything.”
“Members of the Lian Gang are relatively naive, they believe whatever you say, without much cunning. Just follow me.”
The motorcycle, belching black smoke, carried the two of them over the bumpy dirt road.
CC told Lin Xian that the Waste Treatment Plant would dispatch two garbage trucks at 21:11 to collect trash along a preset route, passing by the defunct Tem Bank.
Lin Xian nodded, noting this departure time.
If the two of them snuck into the garbage truck before 21:11, they could enter New Donghai City with the trash collection route, hitching a direct ride to Tem Bank.
Of course, the premise was that CC had to be able to crack the code in time, bypass the biometric verification, and get through the security door smoothly.
For the two of them… this was likely a journey of no return.
Lin Xian didn’t care; his life was already worth nothing.
But the fact that CC dared to agree to this suicidal mission was quite a surprise to Lin Xian.

“No, I don’t want to talk about it.” CC was cold.
“Don’t be so distant, come on.”
“Actually, you’ve told me some things a few hours from now, just not in detail. VV might even be related to me.”
“Hehe! I advise you not to tell such lies.” CC chuckled lightly:
“I would never tell anyone else about VV, spouting such lies now will only lower my trust in you.”
“The only reason I believe what you’re saying now is because you mentioned the name VV… that’s already shocking enough for me, otherwise, I wouldn’t believe those stories you’re telling.”
“But I’m sure that even a few hours from now, at most I would only tell you the name VV, I definitely wouldn’t say anything else.”
Lin Xian concentrated on driving, not asking any more questions.
It seems that even with just a few hours difference between present and future, CC still knew herself well enough to easily see through her own lies.
Her past with VV, that was her most precious memory, seemingly the last thing she wished to unearth.

Three more bumps in a row had CC bouncing against Lin Xian, clinging together.
“Can’t you drive more steadily?” CC complained.
“Hey, don’t cling so tightly!” Lin Xian shook his head:
“Your hair… it’s making my neck itch.”
“You think I want to?” CC, indignant, propped herself up and shifted back.
The two were pressed together again.
“You’re doing this on purpose, aren’t you?” CC frowned.
“You really think too highly of yourself… Can’t you show a bit of self-awareness? What benefits are there for me?”
A punch landed on Lin Xian’s back.
“Why don’t you drive, and I’ll sit at the back?” Lin Xian was getting impatient and turned around:
“Can’t you show a bit of cooperation?”
CC snorted, without a word.
“I know someone who looks exactly like you.” Lin Xian turned back, speaking through the wind.
“That must be the most cliché pick-up line I’ve ever heard.”
“Look! That’s exactly what I wanted to talk about! Do you know the biggest difference between you and her?”
“I don’t want to hear it.” CC said flatly.
“The biggest difference between you and her is that you’re too narcissistic, too full of yourself!” Lin Xian yelled against the wind:
“She’s the darling princess, the whole city’s treasured lady, lovingly indulged by everyone. But even so, she’s not as haughty and self-centered as you! She’s super empathetic, never presumptuous, never thinking she’s all that popular—never assumes that every man wants to take advantage of her.”
“You don’t need to beat around the bush.” CC, supporting herself on Lin Xian’s shoulder, chuckled:
“So what? You like her? You think all girls should be like her?”
Lin Xian swerved to avoid a pothole:
“Don’t slander me; I just think it would be better to clear a lot of things up in advance, since we’re going to be working together for a while.”
“This bike’s so rickety, and the road’s so rough—if you can’t sit still at the back, then get off and run behind.”
Lin Xian was not about to indulge her.
Indeed, appearances can be deceiving… the same face, yet completely different people.
